If you could ask JJ one question and he had to answer, what would it be?

J.J. was this the original Lucasfilm plan for the saga from the beginning and when you got involved did you say :

 

For me Finn in TLJ awakens to the idea of belonging to a group, the resistance, which fights for the right cause. In TFA he has no alliances. He just knew the FO were the bad guys but he wasn’t really aware to what extent. For such a transformation to take place in TLJ Finn needed to realise how complacency and indifference is making the FO win, something that he didn’t know before and Rose helps him to see. RJ did this in a very rushed way turning Rose into a mere mouthpiece, which was unfortunate. But I don’t think that Finn learning this lesson was unnecessary. RJ decided to give the galaxy a socio-political texture to expand Finn’s arc and I applaud that choice. Rey being force sensitive became a hero almost by default, Poe is a hero because, as a pilot, he has been trained to be one. Finn however needed to earn his conviction from somewhere, and it is fitting that he finds it observing the oppressed. Thus you have three very different types of heroes: a spiritual one, a military one and a political one.

Also remember the SW saga is at its core a coming of age story. It is geared at teenagers who are starting to understand the world. SW has almost a duty to educate and explain the young why and how people are compelled to fight against oppression, and the different faces oppression might have.

 

Will you make a cameo appearance in TROS?

 

I’m excited yet very nervous about the return of The Emperor. My question is simple to JJ, “How are you going to execute the return of Palpatine while still preserving and not diminishing the ending of ROTJ?”

 

This is a good question and I JJ probably believes that what he has done with Palpatine does that. However, will the fans think that once they see it

 

Why are you remaking the OT?

 

The ending of the ROTJ is not diminished by bringing back Palpatine. Vader saved Luke, who cares if he didn't completely eradicate Palpatine?. Remember: "it's not destroying what we hate, but saving what we love."

JJ, is Rey Poe's daughter?

 

You could be right and I hope you’re right, but we don’t know until we see how it plays out in the movie. My point is TROS could be a great movie, but it will take multiple viewings (and marathons with the OT) to see how these movies come together in a big picture way.

My Saga is 4,5,6,7,8.9 so I’m not concerned if it jives with the PT. I kind of look at the OT/ST as one big arc of Luke. Farmboy to Jedi Hero to Disillusioned Jedi to Hero again.

 

For me the most important thing is TROS working as a good movie on its own and preferably within its own trilogy. The nods to past films will be interesting to see but not instrumental for me. If I’m honest, I just want a good time, and who am I to doubt the talent of JJ Abrams to pull this off? He did it with TFA. He will do it again, I have no doubt about it

Incidentally, didn’t JJ look kinda serious in D23? I don’t know, like less jokey than usual... I feel the editing process gets to him quite a bit. I’d say he finds it hard to let go of things...

 

This is exactly how I see the saga. The jorney of Luke and the passing on the knowledge he gained during his life.

 

Id ask JJ if Lucas retained some OT character rights or royality $$$ agreements with Disney, that's why OT characters/ships/planets were used so sparingly, .
Is this why R2/C3PO had such limited use. . Also the convoluted 3rd act with Luke in The Force Awakens(2015).

 

I have 3 questions that only a Dark Lord of the Sith can ask:


"FIRST: how did you REALLY FEEL when Mark Hamill called you to FREAK out about the TREMENDOUS difference between YOUR 'Master of the Jedi Arts' version of the character and RJ's 'Meh, I cut myself off from the force, the galaxy, my family & my friends' saber tossing exile? SECOND and maybe MORE importantly: how did you feel about being forced(heh) to edit your completed film by another director? LASTLY: why u hate my dad, Darth Plagueis so bad?"

 

I would like to ask JJ , why Luke, Leia and Han din't have a moment in TFA.

I would also like to know why there are no PT and OT planets in ST.

And finally how much of GL's story line are there in ST.
