While I generaly agree that TLJ haters should not be taken serriously I am for we to embrace a larger view.

I think Star Wars community should evolve just as Star Wars evolved. There is no firm difference between the Dark and Light.

I also, personally think this is just a phase, since episode IX will, against expectations of many make even episode VIII to be seen in different light and make it great even for those who in this moment can't see trough the myst.

I do not believe episode VIII is a solo work of mr Rian Johnson but a part of a well designed grand scenario which will culminate in ep IX.

We shouldn't control the Tide, but ride it. Trust the Tide, it will take us there.

    So true.

    I absolutely agree.

Although be sure to remember, it takes self control to ride the tide.. just like with surfing.

    Same goes for the Trials.

    This ↑↑↑, this is the problem;

This thread is about ignoring those that hated the movie, but the sad fact of the matter is that I have watched those that hated the movie gravitate towards those that enjoyed it with the sole purpose of telling them that they're "wrong for liking the movie"....which leaves me in stunned silence.

It seems to me that it's some type of "I must spread my misery to you, so i'm not alone in my self loathing" and it initially leaves me feeling sorry for those up until they start to argue solely against the happiness that others are left with after seeing TJL, and then I get irritated.

What do those that hated it hope to gain by telling those how wrong they are for at least liking it...please tell me...I DO NOT understand the mentality...

Do they hope to change MY mind?? There were things that I "didn't like" about the movie...that could've been different, but nobody's going to change my mind about the fact that I borderline loved the movie, so don't waste your energy...because that's what you're doing.

Feel free to hate it, but short of try to have you fruitlessly explain what you hope to gain, i'll step around you and be happy with my life.

A fan that works in my building that hated the movie said this to me: "I hated it...so much wrong with it, but if you let this movie ruin your fandom, you're not a real fan.", and she smiled and walked away without trying to tell me how wrong I was.

Don't know about anyone else here, but on the first occasion that I saw TLJ in 2D, there were plenty of empty seats in the cinema when I saw it in the opening week in the UK. And that's very unusual. Normally with all other Star Wars films, they've sold out in the first week. I did wonder why I even bothered preordering my tickets! No people in costumes, no lightsabres, no obvious stereotypical fans were visible.

In the second viewing, the IMAX I saw it in was barely half full on the Friday (15th December) and the school holidays had already begun.

Barely any laughs, except for the roast porg scene, and nobody clapped at the end when end credits started.

Good points here, but when it comes to the "haters" telling those that liked it why they are wrong, that goes both ways. The lovers of this movie are constantly screeching at those who dislike it, telling them why they are wrong, that they just don't get it or (the worst) that they are not smart enough to comprehend it. It's a problem on both sides of the debate. I also don't understand the mentality of telling another that they are wrong for having a different opinion. There's been multiple debates on here, but in the end, nobody changes their minds. The lovers still love it, the haters still hate it. I'm glad some people loved it, good for them. I wish I felt the same way.

You defenders of this bad movie wasting your energy....
You don't understand. People who don't like the movie just accept it. That's it. They move on. But the defenders have a really hard time..
It's like the people who desperately trying to tell me Ghostbusters is a good movie or that Wonder woman should win Oscars.

BTW I don't care about your opinion, because I accepted that RJ couldn't deliver...

Please explain how TLJ bombed in China, the world's second biggest economy which has over a billion people living in it, which prominantly featured a well-marketed Asian cast member, which never achieving #1 ticket sales position, which was beaten by a locally made comedy film, and then was dumped from 92% of all Chinese cinemas in the second week and merchandise sits gathering dust on shop shelves unsold?

Either the Chinese don't love or care about Star Wars, or the leftist-leaning western media is telling porkie pies (lies) about how well TLJ is performing around the world outside of the US?!

They clearly don't accept it else they wouldn't be on a TLJ designated forum. They'd just walk away. Heck, most are saying they won't watch it again and some even that they won't give Disney anymore money. So why are they here? There is only one conclusion:

    To spread the hate*.

    * Though I don't think they hate it, they just want to because they were wrong about a load of stuff and taken out of their comfort zone. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that most have lied and have secretly watched it a dozen times or something.

They eat bugs and dogs in China, have baby turtles on key rings and have the highest execution rate in the world. Also, the highest grossing film is Wolf Warrior 2.

    That's how.

I think not...it is you that waste your energy coming to this thread about "Ignoring the haters" doing what you've been doing...gravitating to the "Lovers" to tell them how wrong they are. That is your subjective opinion, and not a fact.

This is untrue. If (as you said) that the haters just accepted it and moved on...we wouldn't be having this conversation...because you can't just move on with your life.
    Which is it???

They don't...they loved the movie...case closed.

Apparently you do...you took the time to respond.

RJ directed a movie that has grossed over $1.2B from a $200M budget. In any accountants eyes, that's a massive success...whether you liked it or not, and Disney thanks you for your money from this movie, and in advance for the next movie....because you're going to come back.

From a fans perspective, I'm genuinely sorry you hated it, but unfortunately, I don't care to care why because it's inconsequential to my life.

Wow dude.. you just crossed the line! You dislike The Last Jedi? You must be a Star Wars hater.

Seriously though.. this article is trying to lump the "I disliked the film because I didn't like it" crowd in with a very small number the Mens Rights activists who are criticizing the film for what they believe are extreme feminist undertones. I see both sides, but I do not think this film is "feminazi propaganda"

As usual, everything is black or white for people. Criticize the film and you're seen as an evil right wing sexist by some. Love the film and you're seen as weak left wing cu*k.

It would be nice if we could get back to discussing Star Wars, without everyone getting labeled as this or that. I'm getting sick and tired of this political crap.

I love it how these two still don't understand the purpose of this thread. The first thing they're trying to do is try to convince us why it's bad.

NEWSFLASH! NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE TICKET SALES - UNLESS YOU ARE AN ACCOUNTANT, SHAREHOLDER OR SPREADSHEETS FANBOY!!!

LOLOL!!! THAT'S why the franchise was purchased and the movies made...for the $$$$ to be received...that YOU'VE also paid...and will again.

People don't just make movies because they're bored...It's a business, and they do not care about the jilted fan that didn't get to see the movie they made up in their head...the majority liked it.

Critic reviews? That's good, roll on RJ's new trilogy!

I didn't go to see TLJ with the intentions to fund Disney shareholders and improve their business and bring joy to the spreadsheet fans! No, I went to watch the film for the very selfish reason to be entertained for 135 minutes with a story that was respectful to the original films and carried on story arcs and maintained character behaviours set up in all the previous films.

And guess what? They didn't! They made TLJ into a spoof of Star Wars which could have been easily mistaken for a 135 minute satirical comedy sketch on SNL!
And I hated it! Every single minute of it! Well, except for the R2 and Luke reunion scene.

I don't disagree with your sentiment here. However, I will point out, that it goes both ways. I'd be willing to bet that @master_shaitan & @techsteveo have the most posts in the "hate" thread, and all of those posts are trying to convince people who don't like the movie that they are wrong, or mocking them for not liking it.

We should all be able to agree that it's ok to either like or dislike TLJ
