I love TLJ, why should I move to the IX thread

 

I proved group think is a good thing when you label a group of people something nasty for some strange obsessive desire? Glad I could help.

 

I sincerely hope that you don't mean to come off as pretentious and arrogant as this post suggests. When someone goes into the hate thread and expresses disappointment in the way Luke was presented or feels Rey's power hasn't been well explained or disliked the overall story in TLJ, those are their genuine feelings and opinions. It doesn't mean that they are lying or ignorant and spreading misinformation. Putting someone down for their opinion and/or telling them that they just don't understand is pointless. Don't act like your doing some great service by "calling out the haters" in the thread for people who hated the movie.

 

....you have repeatedly mentioned and targeted those that defend the movie as I have been through all 47 of your posts since day one. How are you different? That's a serious question, BTW.

Personally, I think any thread labeled as "HATE or HATERS" should be renamed. Thread names like that promote that emotion. While there are probably some that legit hate the movie, most folks in those threads are simply disappointed for one reason or another.

 

Ah, okay, got it. Nothing wrong with presenting a differing opinion, just don't get mad when you don't convert people. Even though I really love your 4 paragraph posts trying to convince others of your view.

 

Ignore is the best thing to do. TLJ has proven to have longer legs than initially expected following the opening weekend. And in 10 years, its going to be widely regarded as one of the best. Anyone who lived through the ESB backlash would see the evidence.

ESB was stylistically very different, weird, and made some very bold and risky choices. Then Lucas - who never truly liked the look of ESB -- came back and reverted back to the feeling of ANH with ROTJ. He overruled Marquand often and the movie was really his in the end after all the editing done.

I was guilty of being pissed off at many of fandom's worst, but, I could care less what they think anymore. Disney doesn't have a problem. Disney has a gold mine and they are protecting the investment well.

 

There was one that was created like a month ago. The creator of it was trying to find a numbers to support his hatred of the film. He flat out said that the discussions doesn't matter, only the poll. Well the last time I saw it a month it was like 80% (like)/20% (dislike) for people who liked the film. The majority of the members in this form based on that poll liked TLJ. Creating another poll I think would be pointless.

 

And remember, people were hating ESB they claimed it was just like the previous one, weird and destroyed the 'fundamental innocense of Luke's character'. E

There was also a twitter poll by starwarsnewsnet, and allegedly, there was a Spanish guy trying to give TLJ a 1/10 200 times.

There is enough diversive and different SW material for everyone to enjoy nowadays (thanks LF). R1 for you, TFA & TLJ for me (thanks LF).
Think of how overcrowded the theatres would have been if we would all like the same things. Boring.

Btw. No joke. I was literally sitting ALONE in a little indepentend arthouse cinema in a nice tiny town called Kirchdorf in the premiere night on 13th decembre, 23:58.

Agreed, no need for a duplicate poll, therefore why I asked if there was one. If you find the link let me know as I was curious to look at the numbers.

Since so many people are interested in knowing what other people think about TLJ, perhaps that poll could be made stickied? At least people would have numbers to discuss. There is the IMDB poll and others, but I feel having a poll open and always accessible in this forum would be more representative of what SW fans really think about the movie. People could change their minds and change the poll vote at any point in time, of course. Just an idea.

Exactly.. these are also my thoughts on the prequels.

The plot is plausible, but it was poorly executed and had a lot of cheesy filler stuff (the droid factory, space horses, yippee)

Moments like this make me cringe so much.. and The Last Jedi had a few of them. Therefore i'm happier just to pretend I didn't see it, and imagine that i'd just read the meaningful parts of the story in book form
