I'll copy and paste my comment from the article because, it goes with the discussion.

Very interesting, man. This makes me think that the “Ancient Fear” could be every Sith master coming back to seek revenge as part of a Sith order. Like the Jedi council but, it’s a master of Sith.

“To cheat death is the power only one has achieved, if we work together I know we can discover the secret.” The thing one thing we do know is this quote from Sidious looks to involve somebody who could be in the Sequels. Maybe that someone taught others how to cheat death as a master plan to destroy the New Republic and Jedi order but, in a way where the Sith control things but, not as an Empire but, instead with legions of Sith.

These Sith masters were disappointed in Sidious for breaking the rules of exactly how they wanted to do it. Maybe their plan was have an army but, all of them would control things. Not just Sidious but, he broke their trust somehow.

Say Driver's character, in search of Sith artifacts comes across one with Bane's Spirit and is then possessed, we don't actually need to know Bane's name, since Driver would be the Villian.

It would be really interesting to know what Palpatine was up to between III and IV. I cannot believe he was resting on his laurels. He would be pushing the limits on the Dark Side. Experimenting. Trying to recreate Darth Palageuis' work for immortality. He'd be constantly keeping his eyes on Vader to watch for the lightsaber in the back that would eventually be coming his way.

Knowing more about what he was up to during this time might shed a lot of light on where E7 goes.

Also - the comment on the last page about many Sith having been Jedi prior to their fall to the Dark Side is a poignant one.

that's exactly what i was thinking. it would eliminate the need to excuse whatever-ancient-Sith's seeming inaction as he would have been entombed somewhere and unable to reach his power out until found by, maybe, Driver. maybe Driver is Solo's son, then gets possessed, Luke realizes, et voila! concept art leak explained! (the one with Luke and Solo facing off as Solo shields someone)

and yeah, Plagueis would make a bit more sense than Bane, both name-wise and the fact that Plagueis was mentioned to have powers like these in RotS.

Well one of the rumors I favor has the whole mysterious dark side influence behind Driver. That could very easily be Darth Bane or Darth Plagueis and their desire to take over the body of Ridley.

Also wasn't the rumored standoff between Luke, Han, and Driver supposed to come from a leaked production still and not concept art? There is a HUGE difference between the two things.

I'd hate to see any form of bodily possession. I bet, if bane is in the film, it will just be his spirit teaching a new sith lord.

Pretty sure they said it was concept art with the actors in their roles as characters.

to be honest, i'm also not into the idea of possession or body transfers or what have you. i know it used to be canon, but even then i thought it was kind of lame. why keep the same bad guy around? personally, i think a breath of fresh air would be nice!

I like this theory but as I said to Tom, there's too much backstory for this character to be the setting point of a new trilogy for a whole new generation.
As I said before, I'm sure that Disney will keep the story really simple. It's a new beginning after all.

Palpatine in ROTS never said Plagueis knew how to cheat death, he actually said the opposite, that he could not keep himself from dying but keep others from dying, I think Palpatine was referring to Bane.

Luke, who is in a tattered Jedi robe, face covered in dirt and appears to have some fresh cuts. His light saber is drawn, but it is only the prop and the FX had not been added so my source did not know what color it was. Luke looks frantic and appears to be mid-shouting something at Han. Here's the shocker, Han has his blaster pointed at Luke AND Driver is standing right next to Han as if they are on the same side. Han is dressed in his classic garb, while Driver is dressed in a grey suit with red trim, not very Sith like but certainly more done up than an Xwing pilot. The outfit, as described, sounds similar to Senator Organa of PT/CW(not implying any connection). Driver appears to look on guard but calm

    Yes it was a picture

Doesn't 4chan have anonymous posting? If people can leak nudes and not be caught, I bet concept art could work too.

What I don't particularly like about the idea of the ST villain simply being possessed by the spirit of a long-dead Sith lord is that it removes a key element of the entire SW saga: that the difference between the light and dark paths hinges upon one's personal choices.

Possession is involuntary, and IMHO not nearly as interesting from a character standpoint.

That's a very valid argument, maybe one has to be dark side to be possessed by a dark entity at all?

Possibly. It could require some prior affinity for the dark side for the possession to work. But even in that case it's still basically somebody else doing it to them, rather than them simply falling to the dark side through their own series of bad choices, as we saw with Anakin.
