As a matter of fact I really prefer a toilet cleaning stormtrooper over a toilet cleaning princess (i.e. Mila Kunis in Jupiter Ascending).

Like I said, TFA was vastly superior to Jupiter Ascending, IMHO.

Not meh. If it had been meh, you would have seen riots on tv and Disneyland in flames. ;)

i think "meh" is pretty subjective. was it a perfect 10/10? no. was it a shitty 3/10? no. it was probably a 7/10, so, fairly good and enjoyable but nothing out of this world fantastic. so yeah, i suppose "meh" could be used to describe it.

what i liked: Rey's character; Poe's character (in particular his being a smart ass to Kylo Ren); old Han (in general); the Maz's Castle scene where Finn is running around on the ground and you can see Poe kicking ass in the air (that was excellently done); Han and Ben's scene on the bridge was good, if only because you can really see Ben struggling with what he feels he must do; the scene with Rey getting the saber despite Ben, with the music soaring (best scene in the movie; it really recaptured that feeling that anything can happen)

what i didn't like: the opening sequence was a little lame (MVS delivers some lines, shows he's an importantish character, then dies; also, stormtroopers attacking a village = action, not interesting); Maz felt kind of shoehorned into the story, although i didn't dislike her (she was a touch too cgi for me, but ho hum); Snoke wasn't nearly as impressive as i had hoped, but i'm still optimistic; Phasma could have had more screen time; Maclunkey Greg Grunberg had SO MUCH SCREEN TIME (this wouldn't ordinarily bother me, but seeing as to how Luke had NO screen time, it's irksome); Luke's no screen time.

overall, i liked the movie and i thought Rey really brought the whole thing together. i'm looking forward to the sequels and have hopes that the stand alone films won't be terrible. what i was really afraid of was a bunch of corny winks and nods at the OT, and i was pleasantly surprised that they were all pulled off in a way that didn't make me cringe.

on a side note, my gf thought Kylo Ren was a terrible bad guy. she didn't like his hair (to which i said, who gives a rat's ass), thought him to be petulant and childish (beating up stuff with his lightsaber, for example {which i thought was a rather endearing quality that showcased exactly his childish petulance}), and not really scary. she also said that Kylo Ren shouldn't have taken his mask off (another friend echoed this sentiment). personally, i liked him and look forward to his progression; hopefully they flesh him out better in the following films.

Ren was on his way to being a decent bad guy, but then he lost to a girl with no training.

I mean, imagine if Vader had lost to Rey? Would we even be here?

I seriously doubt it. Nobody likes a weak villain.

I thought it was awesome. It was rushed, would have been better as 3 hour movie to give more background on characters and last 30 years. Cannot wait for 8.

Bought shot my pants when Rey ignited that light saber for the first time. Was huge emotional moment.

what i like about Kylo Ren vs Vader is that when something goes wrong with Kylo Ren, it's his fault. he's a screw up and he gets down on himself about it; he gets mad and shows that he is definitely weak.

Vader, on the other hand, gets screwed over mostly because of the obnoxiously poor Imperial Fleet and forces, to which he doesn't get mad: he just kills them. never does Vader lose his cool; he's in control, he's strong, and he knows it. he uses that confidence in his fights against Luke, and in generally every other scene that he's in.

Kylo Ren lost to an untrained Rey because he doubted himself, as he did repeatedly throughout the movie. he's not supposed to be as strong or as threatening as Vader; he's just a confused young man.

Finn was disturbed about the killing the Storm troopers were doing, not that his buddy died. Yes he wasn't happy his friend died, but he saw what the FO was doing and that was what caused him to leave!

Luke was hiding because Kylo took out his academy with the Knights of Ren and he felt partly responsible for that.

Leia was WORSE part of movie. Carrie's acting was flat and you can notice obvious cuts from her scenes! I think we could/would have gotten more background from her and Han, but unfortunately I think they were cut due to her less than stellar acting.

So, tell me again, what part of the following word did you not understand:
    "TRAAITOOR!!!"

Oh, and if you want to know how Rey kicked Kylo Ren's ass.. start here:

    Then go here:

And finally, but most importantly, here:

Because that's how we get to here:

It's called THE FORCE AWAKENS for a reason.
