Han Solo played by Jai Courtney? No thanks. Either make it a CG movie with Harrison Ford's likeness or kick this idea into the Sarlacc pit.

“He’ll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s,” Kennedy says.

I have a very bad feeling about this. Can't they just do a video game instead?

Well, I'm certainly hoping they go more towards the 20s. Non-canon EU-wise, that'd put us about the time he was getting involved with the Empire and eventually saved Chewie, though of course who knows now if that's what happened.

Cautiously optimistic, but I can understand the apprehension. Rogue One looks the safer bet as it's essentially and operations thriller supposedly featuring new people, whereas this is presumably a focus on a loved character.

    Just gotta have faith.

There is absolutely no reason to revisit this character, fans already love him more than any other.. so what is the point on expanding on him aside from money? Kathleen Kennedy really came across as a hypocrite in that interview yesterday, as much as I think she has been doing a good job.. I think the whole notion of a Han Solo spinoff with ANY other actor aside from Harrison Ford is ridiculous.. and I am stunned that so many Star Wars fans have got behind this.

They will not find another actor in their late teens or early twenties with the gravitas of Harrison Ford, he is a one off. He is irreplaceable. This will be the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles of the Star Wars universe and it will suck, hard.

The guys who made THE LEGO MOVIE are making this? I absolutely despised that movie, and NONE of the movies these guys have made have any sort of grit to them:

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
    Clone High
    22 Jump Street

It'll just be more Rebels nonsense for 8 year olds.

I do not support this film, I hope it falls apart and is cancelled. They can make the Boba Fett movie though, I don't give a damn about that character anyway.

Han Solo is one of the best characters of all time, along with characters such as Tyler Durden, James Bond, Forrest Gump, The Joker etc etc etc..

Do you want to see any of those characters when they're in their late teens?

    NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THAT!

Yet people are just fine with the guys who made THE LEGO MOVIE being in charge of teenage Han Solo spinoff. I am absolutely outraged, screw this movie.

How dare they recast a young Obi-Wan for the PT, they should've just used CGI Alec Guiness

This is a terrible example. Not to put down Sir Alec Guinness but any generic old man could have played Obi Wan in A New Hope. Harrison Ford's unique persona was vital to Han Solo however.. and they will not find an actor in their late teens with the same charisma of Harrison Ford.

    Its gonna stink.

While I'm inclined to agree that this is an ill-advised movie, what gives me hope is the fact that Kasdan was actually working on this before even being approached to co-write TFA. He wanted nothing to do with the prequels, but actually chose this movie when they asked him what he'd like to work on after the Disney deal. I trust Kasdan, and I'm not quite ready to dismiss this movie yet. The crucial bit will be the casting of Han; if that sucks, the movie will tank (or will it Trank?).

The nepotism worries me a little -- Kasdan working with his son.

That actually doesn't bother me too much, because his son is already a writer. If he wasn't an Kasdan said "oh, my son wants to be a writer and this is his big chance!", then I'd be worried. Plus, the only reason his son is working on it is because Larry got side-tracked into co-writing TFA with JJ. They emphasized that this would be an action-comedy, and Kasdan Jr is a comedy writer; I feel like he's polishing lines whereas Kasdan Sr is writing the main treatment.

Again, I could be wrong and it could indeed be a flop. But this isn't one of the aspects I'm worried about.

Have you looked at Jon Kasdan's writing credits? That might be a good idea, if you haven't.

I have, and I know they're not extensive. But it's not like he's the only one writing the script, he's still got Papa Kasdan there to write with, and I trust in him. (Side note, that's now 4 different ways I've referred to Larry Kasdan within two posts, lol.)

Now, if TFA ends up being a stinker, then we have something to worry about....

After reviewing his credits, I was reminded that he wrote for Freaks and Geeks, one of the better comedy shows in recent history. I still think he'll be the one writing the comedy, with Dad Kasdan handling the story. (5 ways now :p)

Kasdan knows the Solo character. He could probably make a terd of an actor seem ok with the way he will write Han Solo.....

I am not worried one bit....
