Just thought I'd point out that the picture with the x-wings looks to be separated from the moisture vaporator picture by Rey's skirt, and if they are meant to be two different pictures, there are clearly two suns in the top one and possibly two suns in the bottom one (not sure if there is a second sun behind the glare). Of course, the simple explanation for this is that Jakku has three or four suns, but I thought it was worth mentioning if no one else has brought it up yet (I'm not looking through every page to find out).

Of course, if the two pictures are not meant to be separated and are in fact the same picture, then it almost guarantees that planet is not Tatooine.

Yeah, people have brought it up. I've mentioned it before, but I think we're seeing three different scenes: the sun behind Rey and Finn, the sun behind a squadron of X-Wings and a sun behind a moisture vaporator on the surface. Three views of the same sun, and the effect here is that it's setting. (That fourth bright spot is glare. You can see it on the surface beside the poster, too). Because of that, I believe the story being told in this picture is quite different than some sort of clue that this is secretly Tatooine.

If that's the case, and it is three different pictures of the same sun in the process of setting, that presents an interesting metaphor.

It's a piece of art and it's all about interpretations. We could also say that the upper sun and the one down are one scene: both with clear sky, and both behind something that makes us think about Jakku (Finn, where he starts in the film, and a moisture vaporator). The X-Wings are leaving from the Resistance base in another planet, the scene has some clouds too.

You thinking it hints at the decline of the resistance, or Rey's approach to the darkside?

Damn, Drew Struzan was right, this is going to be the best Star Wars movie ever. Probably.

It is definitely probably going to somewhat blow with gusto the ever-loving socks off in a gentle way of darn near every one of the 60 percent of the entirety of the audience. (according to Struzan)

Of course. But, for me, attempts to group two of the suns together and still have the third one, somehow, feel forced and unnatural. It's not what it looks like to my eyes, and it's not an interpretation I agree with.

If it's Tatooine in the movie, I certainly won't be disappointed. And I'll be the first to come to this thread and say, "YOU GUYZZZ!"

    But it's not Tatooine. ;)

Tatooine is the name of the system. Jakku is the name of...wait, I forgot. What were we discussing?

Just to further disprove my theory of the two suns belonging to Tatooine, I googled a pic and the larger of the two suns set before the smaller one and is to the lower right in ANH, not the upper right. Myth busted.

Unless it is sun rise....And it is a binary system. The stars orbit a central point of their equalized gravity field. Their positions relative to the planets in the system would change constantly.

We're kind of operating under the assumption that the poster is trying to convey setting suns.

It's obviously a sunset on Han Solo there at the bottom, who (in ghostly fashion) is partially see-through. But maybe he will be found haunting Tatooine in a scene after the credits.

I'm personally operating under the assumtion that there are 3 scenes on the light side of the image (each with a sun to represent the light - duh), and 2 or 3 scenes on the dark side.

There were a lot of people that believed Jakku was a new planet when the first teaser came out - somehow they gathered that there was only one sun in the solar system from the single shot of the Falcon doing a loop. There werw a lot of posts from people saying how confident they were about there being just one sun.

    So we have believers of...
1.) "Jakku is a new planet with one sun" (some also believe the three suns on the poster are from individual scenes - so it's actually a single sun that is setting/rising illustrated in motion)

And we have firm believers that think...
2.) "Jakku is Tatooine - there are two suns"

now some are saying... (due to the new poster)
3.) "Jakku is a new planet with three suns"

So which is it... 1, 2, or 3 suns? Once we know this I believe we'll have our answer.

Well Empire magazine says this about Jakku:
    http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=45234

I don't believe that Empire really knows this...but it aint nothing. Not looking good for Jakkooine.
