Does anyone wanna see Kylo Ren in the pilot seat in Episode VIII?

I mean he is Han Solo's son and Anakin's grandson, it would be a shame if he doesn't have a chance to show us some 'Skywalker-Solo' gifted ability. No need for him to be as good as those two legendary pilots, but if he want to be as badass as Vader, he must live up to his grandfather's legacy including navigation force.

We've already seen lightsable duel between him and Rey (briefly with Finn). How about a space duel with Poe Dameron in Episode VIII?

I've heard that in the delete scene, Kylo actually did boarded on the Millennium Falcon when she landed on Starkiller base, it would be great if he captained the ship at some point in Episode IX (just in case that he was successfully pulled back to the light)

    What do you think?

That would definitely go towards character development, showing a side of Kylo we have not yet seen in The Force Awakens.

Few pilots likely could match the daring and ability of Poe.

One of the most interesting contrasts between Kylo and Darth Vader, so far, is that Kylo seems to need the First Order or The Knights of Ren (i.e. in that rain scene) for that extra added presence. Alone, especially unmasked, his gravitas is far lesser than Vader's.

When Vader enters a scene unaccompanied, such as in The Empire Strikes Back against Luke on Cloud City, it is a truly fearsome experience, and you have no doubt he wears the title of Dark Lord of the Sith appropriately.

And we know Vader/Anakin as a pilot in both the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy (including back to the pod racing).

One thing Kylo could be shown to do, that would be new, is to use the Force to affect another ship. Imagine him going aerial and one-on-one with Poe and doing a Force-freeze on Poe's X-Wing's engines.

So Kylo would not necessarily have to be a better pilot, or even a good one, but, in using the Force in such a way, it could be interesting.

Though it would def be cool to see something like that in the movie, it wouldn't be completely new in the officially official SW cannon. In 'Lords of the Sith' there are some amazing scenes where Vader does some amazingly badass stuff like crashes his ship into an ememy ship and uses the force to cross the vacuum of space to board the ship and kill everyone on it, and he also force choke pilots in other ships ect.

To come up with ways to bring Kylo out from under Vader's shadow, so to speak, would be an immense challenge. One I would like to watch.

    Yes, I agree!

And Anakin in Revenge of the Sith in particular, was shown to have some really creative piloting scenes.

Any opportunity for Kylo to further distinguish himself as a unique character would be welcome.

It would be awesome if they would really make him mirror Rey (conj. the other skywalker). So,yes I do want to see him pilot vehicles and fix stuff.

No to the X-wing freeze op because if he did that he could just crash the MF and kill Rey and Luke

i actually have a feeling Kylo Ren isn't so great as a pilot.
Leia can fly, but hardly does. he might be his mother's son in that regard ~
~ and that's one reason to feel like he falls short of his grandfather and disappoints his father.

but i still have a feeling we'll see him in the co-pilot seat of the Falcon before the end of ix.

    Me too!

Quick question - who is piloting Kylo Ren's command shuttle? I thought he is the pilot but then I googled and this is what I found :Lego Star Wars
    Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle™
    • Includes 6 minifigures with assorted weapons and accessories: a Kylo Ren, General Hux, First Order Officer, 2 First Order Crew and a First Order Stormtrooper Officer

So who is piloting that ship? And why is General Hux on Board?

Oh, there is a deleted scene (?) of Hux and troopers picking up Kylo Ren after he is defeated by Rey. The two crewmen fly the ship I think together with the officer. There must be something in the incredible cross sections about this.

Maybe we'll get to see how he made/fixed up his cranky ol' lightsaber in the next movie? Or maybe we'll get to see him fix the cantankerous thing up a bit better after Rey knackered it?

Well his father was a great pilot. His mother is a pilot (although she doesn't do it as much), his uncle is a great pilot. His grandfather was the "best star fighter pilot in the Galaxy," and even his grandmother was a pilot (although again she didn't do it that much in the films). And, if he and Rey do turn out to be related somehow, then his sister/cousin/whatever would also be a naturally gifted pilot.

So yeah, I could see this. IDK if they'll go there for sure, but it's certainly a possibility.

I've been curious about Kylo's piloting skills and I anticipate this must come up in the 2 films to come in one way or another and as I thought that these questions are possibly not very spoilery and there is a good chance they might be answered I asked Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter about Kylo's piloting skills. Here is what he said:

    1. 10:24 AM - 12 Mar 2016
2 non-spoilery Qs: 1) Is Kylo a good pilot? 2) Does he pilot his command shuttle himself? Thanks!

    2. @pablohidalgo
      10:26 AM - 12 Mar 2016
      1) He has skills 2) Presumably no. That vehicle's production nickname was "Limo". Kylo shouldn't drive his own limo. :)

    3. 10:39 AM - 12 Mar 2016
Thanks for the response! Appreciate it! Just to clarify: "He has skills" as in "he is a very good pilot"?

    4. @pablohidalgo
I'd say he's capable. As to how good he is, I'll leave that for a story to reveal and you can be the judge.

So, there you go - "he has skills" and "is capable".

Well, now we can look forward to the "story that will reveal how good he is"...:D

Considering Pablo Hidalgo tweeted at someone in a similar thread that Kylo's shuttle is pretty much his "limo" I wouldn't count on it though it's not out of the question...maybe he's even ABOVR piloting as it reminds him of his previous life and thinks he's too good for it .

Of course he has piloting skills. His father, uncle, and grandfather, are/were all brilliant pilots, and expanded stuff has established that his mother and grandmother both have at least some piloting skills as well. And his maybe/potentially cousin is also a naturally gifted pilot as well.

But no, he doesn't get to pilot the Falcon. Not after killing Han and making Chewie cry. Consider that, forfeiting your right to that particular ship. I'd actually like to see him have his own unique, not seen before personal ship.

Vader didn't pilot his own shuttle either, now that I think about it, despite being such a great pilot.

that picture is still so weird and...disturbing to me.

i have dark moments when i think: jeez, how do you fix this?
how can he ever pilot the Falcon after killing his father? how will he reconcile with Chewie?

i hate this movie ~ hahaha
