Hi,

So first post, Lurked for a while, loved all the ideas and theories..

Please bear with me for insane or non-sensical ramblings..

Saw Force awakes twice today – midnight screening then again at 9am.. Was good – sets up the next few much like a new hope did, mixed the first two movies together, I still think the final scene should and will be spliced together with that damn reaction squirrel… imagine it… never going to forget now..


So.

Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) legit bad guy. Ohhh wow.. you kind of got the idea he was all a bit cartoony at the start – Darth Vader intro in ANH is much more brutal (And ill use that word again).. but Kylo comes across ‘typical random bad guy out for mayhem with no means or ideas of consequence’

Fast forward to when he is hitting himself in his wound from when his dad’s best friend just shot him after he killed said friend/dad in cold blod after saying how 'torn up about it' he was...

Brutal.

That scene of Han approaching Kylo was great.. in fact it was the best mix .. fans always go on and on about poetry and whatnot in the saga –

- A new hope – Ben Approaches Vader (Han yells ‘Ben’ in force awakens’)

- Empire strikes back – Vader approaches Luke – father approaching son. (Han approaches Ben)

- The whole scene was chilling – open air, no score, single platform, only one will leave (Same as Empire)

- Son kills Father – reverse of Empire but pushes further with the dialogue –
Empire was ‘join me’
Force awakens – ‘I don’t need you’

It just leaves us with questions..

And that’s a damn damn damn good thing!


The final battle in Force awakens – Rey hits and injures Kylo on the right shoulder – same as Luke hits Vader in their fight when descending the stairs in Empire before Luke’s hand goes bye bye.

Its going to be Solo vs Skywalker.

Actually.

It’ll just be Skywalker vs Skywalker.

Kylo has renounced his Solo – idealises all the bad of the Skywalker name (Anikan)

Rey will see the whole of the good in the Skywalker name (Luke)

Luke is the middle point of the whole thing – and will train Rey to fight Kylo but its going to get so messy as all Space Operas should when we’ve got family vs family and light vs dark.


Few things to ponder

- So Finn is setting up as the new Han – shot in the doorway of the two of them with leather jackets? Coincidences are a dime a dozen in Star Wars but we’ve now seen Han’s journey from ‘scoundrel’ to ‘carer’ maybe Finn will just get there that little bit faster than Han.

- Rey/Finn/Kylo love triangle… I am very scared of fan fiction – but this would give the ‘poetry’ to Rey’s journey mimicking Luke’s journey from good to bad to good…

- I wont go into the questions left purposely for people – what happened with knights of Ren, what’s going on with the ‘trained Jedi’s’, whys old Luke chilling on an island…

- But… Snoke to Hux – “Bring Kylo Ren to me to complete his training” we notice the big scar on Kylo’s face from being cut down by Rey and at near death – same as… Darth Plag… (“My master is ‘wise’… please, its him..) I mean supreme leader Snoke big scar on his holographic face…
Hey how’d Anakins journey to the dark side/Vader transform go? – killing a bunch of people and embracing his pain.. (has a scar on face – is that still canon or not?) and then training became complete when… oh right.. near death at the hands of a jedi with a sith lord intervening in his ‘death’


Bring on episode 8..

Lets bang out the details of dissension though

 

You think Ben/Ren will go after Finn in the next episode. I mean it a good way to get under Rey's skin as pay back. I mean while she's gone training. Target her friends or maybe the person she might love.

Im not really sure what you were going on about in that post.. but id really like to hear more of your ideas.. i mean descending into hell that never existed is some sort of antiquated absolution of the balance between what we choose to believe and not believe giving some convergence to life and whatever it is we see between and not in between... well life..

But really, he survives but barely, he's still conflicted but is a psychopath...btw, when he hands Solo the saver, he activates it with the side and it goes far through Solo...wtf?

 

that scene is one of my favourites of the movie.. kylo ren is SUCH an amazing character.. and han's death was very sad. he genuinely nearly came back to the light.. but then changed his mind... it was brutal.

 

"Ben?" His name isn't gonna be that unless we see VIII AND Kylo just baited him because he was forced to, didn't want to, but was made to...he just felt the force calling to do it, and he will be made a more tragic character than Anakin Skywaler...just didn't like his accent .

 

astro - the choice maybe was made.. the conflict in his eyes was real, heck it was awful .. maybe he needed to make the choice be placed on another to make it ok with him.. 'stupid psycho 101' i really liked kylo's character cos we saw his utter meltdown.. smashing control desks with his 'lightsaber' and just throwing utter tantrums.. its of a child who cant relate to any other - whats someone who hasnt had a guiding presence in their life except old snokey gonna do.. he will lash out.. he wont have the coping mecahnisms..
damnit.. am i playing way too much into a real life version of people!!!
as if we havent learned such life lessons from previous trilogies

I loved it.. brought the power of empire.. kept the heart of new hope.

 

It reminded me a tad of citizen Kane when his wife left him...as much as I want to agree with you, he really was psychopathic since he says, "I thank you," as in to his father to help him know his true potential to freaking kill his own DAD.

 

astro - maybe we get the true un-savable villian and his death later on in the saga will be true..

harvy - i like it, he pulls it to him and its known he wasnt the character gone - 4th wall broken.. it was a send of that does befit a hero - not the cliched long years, old age with leia, growing crops with chewie and c3p0 managing the revenue..
star wars is of its own universe.. they deserve their own ending.

 

He'd most likely redeem himself and go into seclusion at the end of the saga, but notice how Han is killed with the side bald of the saber, very interesting .

 

he's (Harrison) wanted solo dead since end of empire.. doing new blade runner.... right.... now.... and in talks for iny 5 or 6 or whatever we are upto..
we got to see a send off of a beloved character in a storyline that will hopefully continue the series...
yeah its crap he died.. and at this point in the series - end of VIII maybe.. but it was alright ending for the character..

makes way for new characters.. i hope they end up even half as good

astro - there are so many allusions in this movie i found it hard to keep up.. you paint a good picture - bald side - where we going with this?


My honest want and hope for the series
1. the series doesnt rehash the same characters (yes we did it in this movie, but ep 8 and 9 has to go to new and better places)
2. the true fans are loved by screenwriters.
3. the non fans are loved by screenwriters.

massive ask..
but we got a hugggggeeeeee pull from screenwriters for force awakes - pulls old fans in with new fans - old lines, old effects vs new effects / exceptional cast and RANGED cast..
continue it on.. please

 

Remember, Kylo hates hux, he has his own agenda but looks to Snoke as his father instead of Han. He kills Han because his "father" demands it and "son" is "dead," so it's all
