I'm really honestly quite sure that I am reasonably certain that there might not be sound in space.

I would have loved to see Leia use the force in an appropriate way, like seeing the future that would help plan her next move, or force closing a door as enemies are approaching, or force throwing a lightsaber to a character in a battle... but instead we got this?

At first I liked it, cuz I thought it was going to be a beautiful send off to Carrie. The music stopped and there were cool shots of her face and the ice and it looked really peaceful but then... ya, it got so cringe-worthy that I could barely watch. Out of nowhere she turns into a mannequin mary poppins and floats herself to a ship WHILE unconscious.

I also didn't like how they tricked the audience. She's dead..... not!

WHAT IF Ben force-pushed her towards the ship? Boom...cringe moment saved.

Terrible. If they wanted to show Leia use the force, then fine, but this was absurd. Maybe if they'd filmed it another way. Like just show her face and her hand reaching out instead of that stupid full body shot which looked like a Superman/Mary Poppins/Sanderson sister hybrid.

If Leia can use the Force, why the hell Luke did not train her ?

Regarding the scene itslf, it's a sequence made to dream, in a movie that is clearly NOT a scientific documentary nor a comologic digest. Well in fact it's just a movie.
I liked the sequence, apart for the Superman-look, they could have chosen another posture.

In legends he did, Leia was a jedi knight. Now In the new canon he didn't train her because of JJ who decided Leia for some stupid reason didn't have time to train.
By the way jedi's don't need training anymore so who cares.

it is true Rey required less training than Luke, Luke trained less than Anakain, Anakin trained less than ObiWan.... Darwin would be proud.

    Yep, this.

None of this is real. Laser swords and hyper space are just as implausible. Using the force at all is implausible. I just don’t see why people have a problem with it.

It’s like when people complained about the physics of using the twirling lightsabers as helicopters. The physics on plain old lightsabers is ridiculous.

God, that was such a stupid moment in the film.

Luke’s Jedi training between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” was bad enough. But now, I’m supposed to swallow that the less Jedi training these characters receive, the more powerful or skilled they are? I hope this is a joke.

I agree it was overdone! I like the scene in theory, but the camera angles and pacing just made me raise an eyebrow. Like...maybe if she did something immediately after the blast, and it was a subtle force pull back towards the ship, and the camera shot was done from an overhead angle instead of a “look, she’s flying!” angle, then I think it could have really worked and been fairly mind blowing. It was an execution issue more than a plausibility issue for me.

I got the impression that the Force reaches out to Leia and allows her to regain consciousness, and in that moment , Leia realises (perhaps subconsciously at the very least) her true potential in regards to the Force. The will to live is a powerful motivator as well.

I loved the sequence. My only concern on first viewing was "can someone actually survive in space??" Turns out they can, for a minute or two according to google. :D

Everyone assumes Leia acted on her own. You could be correct. Ben may have helped save her. Maybe Luke saved her, or Leia had a magic ring as @McDiarmid suggested in another thread. I still think she may have died and was resurrected.

RJ's storytelling is "ambiguous" throughout TLJ. Many people watch the same scene and walk away with different theories.

I never wanted to go so far as to say she was “resurrected,” but I do agree. Luke did something in that scene that brought her back. It was our first encounter with him using the Force, and our first hint at him being insanely in tune with the Force.

Okay, so the scene was completely over the top in my opinion.
The only way I could see them making this scene work was when the missiles where about to impact she started using the force, hands up to the door yelling. As the room exploded, she was fighting with the vacuum to stay alive and close to the ship!

The reason I say this is, because lets say that massive explosion did no physical damage, the vacuum of space would have torn the air from her lungs and supply to the brain. Now I am not hung up on logic, but I struggle to see even the strongest of Jedi being so strong they can overwrite their own dead brain, and then drag themselves down to a ship, while not breathing......

Lastly, how did they get her? She comes up to the window over the door and then she's inside on the ground? Wouldn't they have been sucked through the vacuum, cause there was no air lock?

The John Williams music helped a ton. Otherwise more people may have been laughing.
(I even laughed the 2nd time I saw it & I knew it was coming. The 3rd time I was able to control myself.)

I thought it was awesome. Realistic that she still needed medical help, but it's a fantasy and she's strong in the Force.

He doesn't use the force anymore at this point.

But I guess anything is possible when you're are on first Jedi island resort, drinking space cow milk. Being nearby the books he never read makes up for that
