So Chuck Wendig gave us the first lines of the next book Aftermath: Empire's End...

But before he did, he fumbled and messed around with what it was... he had these gems to share...

1.-"Luke Skywalker dies." Wait no, that can't be right. The signal must be scrambling, hold steady, stay on target...

2.-"Jyn Erso presses her blaster against the back of the Lepi's head. Jaxxon's ears tremble. 'I never said I REBEL,' Jyn snarls."

CRAP that's not it either. The Empire is interfering! STUPID Empire! Sad! HOLD ON, reuploading...

3-"Wicket runs herkily-jerkily across the wibbly-wobbly surface of Jakku." WAIT THAT IS FROM CHAPTER TWO sh** hang tight

4-"GRAND ADMIRAL RAX," Tarkin's Force Ghost hisses, "or should I say, GRAND SITHLORD FANCY PANTS SNOKE."
oh hell I wasn't supposed to say that pretend I said something else

5- "Meesa yousa Mom!" the old Gungan, Jar-Jar, tells Rey. WAIT NO! nope that's a leak from Episode VIII god @rianjohnson is gonna be pissed

    6-
FOUND IT HOLD STILL HERE COMES THE PLANS TO THE FIRST SENTENCE OF EMPIRE'S END..

"The architecture of the Death Star, even in its unfinished reconstruction, brings awe to Admiral Gallius Rax."

Well there you have it. :D

I think the fact they were seriously considering this artwork for Snoke's look really narrows his possible background down a lot imo. Its basically an undead version of a snake looking being. That look almost eliminates the possibility Snoke was hanging around Ben when he was a kid without Luke and Leia knowing he was some big baddy or that he was some former politician serving alongside Leia etc. That look just screams ancient baddie just like Snoke's current very decayed/broken down look does. That is a look that would be smart to stay hidden in the unknown regions until the time was right to strike.

I remember they wanted him as a reptilian, but you're right, with that backstory, they couldn't have him look this way and not expect suspicion. Instead they went with a humanoid, Gallius..euh..humanoid..and made him go through...

Well Andy Serkis said it best...

""Obviously he has a huge agenda. He has suffered a lot of damage. As I said, there is a strange vulnerability to him, which belies his true agenda, I suppose."

    Damage :)

Well the artbook with the picture of the busts made for Snoke makes me think he is probably very old also. The artist has one version where he shows Snoke with his whole left side eye socket area caving in but the injury on the top of Snoke's head is not nearly as prominent as it is in the final Snoke look but the massive left eye socket degeneration is mostly gone. The artist also talks about visualizing Snoke as being handsome in his youth but as his darkside power grew so did the toll on his body or words to that effect.

Looking at those things I don't think the damage on Snoke's forehead everyone thinks is from a massive wound is not from that at all but just what they decided to go with at the end instead of having his eye socket totally collapsing and it was caused by the darkside eating him up throughout his very long life.

The Ravager plummeting towards the surface during the Battle of Jakku in Star Wars Battlefront:

    SSD_Ravager_wreck_TFA.jpg
    The Ravager in TFA.

I think in the next and final book of the Aftermath trilogy, Empire's End (February 2017), Gallius Rax will be presumed dead in the Battle of Jakku in the crash of his Super Star Destroyer Ravager and in Episode 8 we will discover that the real name of Snoke is Gallius Rax and that he survived the crash of his Destroyer with the help of the dark side but was seriously injured and burned. If Snoke is Gallius Rax he's 70 years old in TFA.

OMG, @The Futurition ! After reading both books of Wendig's series, I was already inclined to think of a possibility of Gallius being Snoke. But after all the connections I've seen you make, what can I say.

Either it is the biggest red herring ever (and a missed opportunity), or Rax is INDEED the Supreme Leader.

    Cannot wait for Empire's End!

If he saw and knew all that transpired during the OT era, (and he does) it makes him about 70yrs old. His 70 years old, being humanoid but not human. The damage is considerable, and I really have to go with what some others think as well, his damage probably comes from the Battle of Jakku. That's my take, although in the side by side profile pictures you put up, one of them certainly looks like he might have been hit by force lightning (the forehead folds).

In the final product as we see in TFA, he definitely looks damaged but better..bacta tank anyone?

I have to agree with this assumption. It makes the most sense and for entertainment's sake, a spectacular turn around to come.

My interest now lies in how Gallius Rax becomes Snoke. That is the secret I believe they're trying to guard. Not so much, is Gallius Snoke.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 23, 2016 ---
Me neither! If it is a red herring, there will need to be another trilogy of books just to explain how Snoke seemingly out of nowhere becomes leader of the First Order usurping all power from individuals on his way there and how he got close to the Solo's in order to seduce Ben.

There is only 1 person in all of what's canon out there who is manipulating his way to get close enough to the resistance/rebellion and to Leia.

    The Operator.

    A.K.A officially, Gallius Rax.

Are you guys ignoring the supposed recent leak from MSW around Snoke? They claim that there will be a practical effects Snoke puppet that's 8 feet tall (2 and a half meters). If this is true, then Rax would have to go through some sort of physical transformation for him to become Snoke. Still possible through some Dark Side shenanigans, but it increases the theory's complexity (and thus reduces its plausibility).

Add that to Chuck Wendig's making fun of this theory and my bet would be on a red herring.

Also, Empire's End will come in February right? No way that a major reveal around Snoke will happen outside of the movies, and before EP8 comes out.
So, Empire's End will either rule this theory out or ... not confirm anything :)

Neal Scanlan, chief of creature and droid effects "This character is much better executed as a CGI character. That’s just a practical reality when he’s 7-foot-something tall; he’s very, very thin."

    http://people.com/movies/star-wars-the-force-awakens-adam-driver-gwendoline-christie-star/

Snoke is around 7 feet, he could be a tall human.

Andy Serkis "He is severely damaged. Although he's a powerful leader, he comes across as vulnerable. Very scarred and disfigured"

    http://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/star-wars-exclusive-andy-serkis-talks-supreme-leader-snoke/

In the crash of the Ravager during the battle of Jakku? :)

And there will be no major revelation in Empire's End, Gallius Rax will be "dead" in the book, the major revelation will come with Episode 8: the real name of Snoke is Gallius Rax and he survived the crash of the Ravager.

I see your points but there is a bunch of stuff going against him being Rax.

Rax certainly hasn't been described as being between 7 foot to 8 foot tall which is where the descriptions of Snoke's height in articles put him so far. They havent described his height but that is something that you would think would be mentioned by now since it is so much taller than the normal range.

Snoke is not human and the author said all those officers are humans. The book said he is humanoid and when it showed his backside of his neck etc. it resembled something alien big time.

The artbook is giving us a likely clue why Snoke is so damaged and disfigured and its because he is very very old and the darkside has literally destroyed his body. Look how twisted his body is in addition to his face suggesting it might not be from any outside cause at all.

I think Pablo's tweet was suggesting more along the lines that whatever happens to Rax will clear it up he isn't Snoke.

I thought at one time there was a slim chance Rax might find some Sith artifact or something similar that gives him that power and eats his body up like that but with Snoke not being human and being that tall etc. I think that is pretty much out the door. My guess would be Rax just helps lead them to the unknown regions with something from Jakku that leads them to Snoke who is there. Due to Pablo's tweet I think its better then 50/50 Rax dies at the end of Empire's End and is 100% dead.

The Empire had a huge research base on Jakku but didn't realize that a jedi was living in an ATAT.

It would be too obvious if Gallius Rax is around 7 feet in the books. All we know of Gallius Rax: he has pale skin, juste like Snoke, he looks like a "hologram", well just like Snoke in TFA who is only seen as a hologram.

Pablo Hidalgo doesn't want to confirm that Gallius Rax is not Snoke:

he has confirmed multiple times that Plagueis is not Snoke for example:

    Sans titre789.png

Snoke could a human damaged by an accident and the dark side, Palpatine doesn't look really human in Episode 6 but he is human.

Oh and a strange thing: Rax is an orphan from Jakku, Rey is also an orphan of Jakku in TFA, a link between Rey and Gallius Rax in Episodes 7,8,9?

Rey had been born around ten years after the battle of Jakku, so when she was brought there five years later, there was no Imperial jurisdiction on Jakku.

All taken into account. MSW claims 8ft although I believe it's closer to 7ft, and I would have to look at where that info came from about the height, but I can't be arsed to find it right now. Another thing is, Galiius Rax's description has been deliberately kept out of the books, and there is a definitive reason for that.

I also don't believe we will get all of the Gally to Snoke explanation in the next book, they will keep a definitive reveal for VIII.

I believe they will heavily hint and give us 50% of the story, but a surprise will be kept for December 2017.

The way that plays out and you know once info comes out in Empire's End, everyone from Variety to SlashFilm to EW will discuss the reveal. They will fiil in the blanks for the average moviegoer. Any major SW reveal goes viral anyways...

It will sell plenty of more books, and the cliffhanger will be revealed in EP VIII.

    In passing,

our thoughts and prayers are with everyone's favorite princess, Carrie Fisher. Hope she finds the force to make it through. (leia)

    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 23, 2016 ---
Maybe that facility was destroyed, abandoned, or given to a special group for safe keeping as Rey mentions...and Rey wasn't even aware of the her force sensitivity, so I imagine no one else could know either.
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 23, 2016 ---
That is an interesting angle for sure....

The one thing that strikes me as odd in TFA is how many times the words.. ''Why does everyone want to go back to Jakku'' are mentioned... :)
    --- Double Post Merged, Dec 23, 2016 ---
And again Hold on Princess, Hold on.....may the force be with you.

This is supposed to be Rax during the Aftermath books but not sure what is the original source of the picture. I think that pretty much rules him out as being Snoke since he is clearly human.

So Rax's ship crashes on Jakku. He barely survives and wanders into a temple. Barely holding his last breath, Rax makes a pact to live and inadvertently releases an evil dark side spirit. His soul is devoured and his body possessed by none other than Darth Plagueis who has been waiting for a corporeal body to inhabit ever since he was bested by his apprentice, Darth Sidious.

    Rax as Snoke confirmed!!!

    Plagueis as Snoke confirmed!!!!!!

Unfortunately, there is no official picture of Gallius Rax. I had fallen on this picture while looking up info after reading Life Debt. I remember it being fan art on Deviant or Imgur or something. It then made it's way to a wookiepedia(?) page or another one of those sites.

So no official picture of Rax. He's never been described.

Lol...You guys have to get over it. Plagueis is dead as per Lucasfilm story group and not part of the new canon. ;)
