Really wondering people's opinions of this scene.

Luke milking the blue milk from the 4 teats of that obviously CGi creature.

Seriously, this is like one of only 3 "training scenes" that Luke and Rey have together.

I mean, seriously, why? Just why?

Lol, everybody hoping for some serious Star Wars "feels" like when Yoda trained Luke.

    Hoping!

That the new movie would show Luke training Rey, wondering what HAPPENED to the great Luke Skywalker in all those years?

Whats he like now? What will he tell Rey? How would an old Luke "train" a new young Jedi? When we last remember Luke himself being a young rebel.

Well FORGET ALL THAT, literally one of only 3 pretty short and meaningless Luke training Rey scenes is Luke Skywalker milking that CGi creature.

Lol, forget the Star Wars "feels" you came here looking for. That scene is what you get.

He was milking a literal sea cow.

if you went to a farm with pre-industrial resources, you'd see the same thing.

If I wanted to watch a cow being milked I would have.

Ask yourself from a storytelling perspective why that scene was in the movie? What was it's purpose from a narrative standpoint? And why there were sexual overtones to the scene from the sounds the creature made to the look it gave?

I think it was simply Rian Johnson succumbing under the weight of the gravitas of the ending scene of TFA and resorting to crass humor as an easy ticket out.

Still don't know what to think about that scene to be honest. Bizarre is the word that comes to mind.

It was presenting the eccentric element to Luke’s character in an entertaining way.

    And definitely not sexual.

Seriously. After all the hype at the ending of TFA....

and in TLJ he tugs on the teats of a cow, squirts out a nasty looking blue milk and drinks it looking at Reys face, and the cow looks at Rey too, smiling.

What on Earth is the point? Someone tell us because it sure wasn't funny to me.

I know. And I’ve only been here for 6 days!

Op, having actually been to a farm and seen cows being milked, it’s not humorous. It’s showing how Luke gets his food on the island, and how resourceful he is. Its a classical SW scene, considering scenes in OT and PT.

People, it wasn't that weird. He needed sustenance. It was an interesting little insight into his life on the island and how he existed there.

In the immortal words of Charlie Brown: good grief.

Now you're just making stuff up. It was green, not blue, and the creature didn't smile. Come on, now.

yep, this scene was indeed terrible, but fits to Rian's humor shown in a lot of other scenes, especially with Hux and Finn. Only Poe as a male character came away without being shown in ridiculous scenes.

This is getting ridiculous. Y'all need to just calm down a bit and think before you post.

As another poster mentioned - "bizarre" is the perfect way to describe that scene. And honestly, that's why I liked it. My brother, cousin, and I were talking, it was so bizarre, uncomfortable, and out there, it felt like classic Star Wars to us, as strange as that may sound. We compared it to seeing Mos Eisley or Jabba's Palace and their inhabitants for the first time. It was so "otherworldly" and that element was missing from TFA. There are multiple ways to describe it - strange, weird, hilarious, awkward, etc. - but in a universe with 8 foot tall walking dogs, laser swords, and a giant slug who owns sex slaves, nothing can seem that out of place.

And the cantina scene in ANH! Which is what this forum is named after!

This thread is a waste of space otherwise.

Thank goodness early Europeans didn't think it sexual or weird or funny to milk cows. Who knows where we'd be without that advancement.

Remember how when Luke first went to Dagobah and thought Yoda was crazy.

This is that moment for Rey.

    Quit over thinking things

The ironic thing is...........Luke as a former farm boy, probably did something similar on Tatooine.

This scene didn't bother me at all. It was nice idea to show the audience what Luke was doing to stay alive. And yes, you have to drink something to say alive.

Are you 10 years old? That isn't what happened in the scene and you know it. Get real and grow up.
