Hi All! So I started this thread so that we don't have to be limited to the prompt of @odmichael's amazing thread of Luke's wife being a villain (specifically one for Eps VIII and IX). Anyways, like it, hate it; it's all up to you. Enjoy!

(As an added note, who wants Felicity Jones to be Rey's mom and/or Lukes wife?!? It's been posted on TV tropes as well under WMG and YMMV (Epileptic Trees) for Rogue One as well!)

Agreed. Though disappointed JJ, LK and KK didn't have the foresight to include her at some point..... or have they?

I know I'm glad they played it safe not revealing much in that glorious trailer.

Perhaps we'll begin to see the first bits of what "Legends" truly means in-canon? Perhaps something similar to the Thrawn Trilogy did happen, and Luke did have a wife named Mara Jade, who was then killed by a former pupil turned Dark-Sider. It didn't happen the exact way it happened in the EU, but just enough that in a far off time, somebody may have twisted the story just enough for it to be seen that way.

*my nerdgasm would be complete if this were true*

I'm unconvinced that Luke will have any wife or child in the new canon (just due to the PT being all about celibate Jedi) but if he does, I would love it to be Mara. Methinks that one day soon,we'll get an animated series about the "missing years" and I'm sure they'll mine the old EU for good stories. Heck, I really think Kylo & Rey are big screen takes on Jacen & Jaina (though I seriously doubt those will be their names).

My only issue with Luke as a celibate Jedi is that those rules were part of what destroyed the Jedi before. Also, I wonder how much Luke was taught of those days. It will truly be interesting going forward, either way.

I'm not sure who his wife is but in regards to Kylo and Rey, what if they are brother and sister (so you have a twin sister) that would be so cool!

Welcome to the Cantina! Yup, that's a popular theory. It faded for a bit, but I think due to the poster it's picked up a little more steam. Personally, I'm not a fan of the theory and prefer to think that if they're related, it'll be a cousins; that being said, you could be right on point and they're twins!

I don't think that they'd look enough alike to be identical, but I could see feat real.

That sounds really cool. I can see them doing a lot of Rey-conning for The ST, but they wouldn't make it that obvious...remember: MYSTERY BOX!!!

I know many like myself are disappointed by the throwing out of EU, but i loved this about EU and Mara Jade, it was very interesting and i enjoyed it and it is sad that it has been thrown out. Perhaps they will make a twist of it in another way. They have to, if in fact one of these kids are Lukes kid.

If one of the new characters turns out to be a child of Luke they have to explain the mother. That wold be a huge question that they couldn't just completely ignore. I just hope if Rey or Kylo or maybe Finn is a child of Luke they don't give us some throw away line about his or her mother having died years ago and offer no explanation.

I mean if you really want to rip off the Jacen/Jaina storyline, have Kylo Ren have already killed the mother.

You know, I have never personally ever been a fan of the names Jacen and Jaina...although, I believe that a lot of our speculation on who is related to who is based on our influences from The EU.

There is possibility that, if Luke has any offsprings, this will be only revealed in Ep VIII, and not in VII. They pave the way for whole Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker revelation so that it was acceptable in ESB. In any case, the most likely case is that Luke will have only handful of minutes towards end of the TFA, and having as his last line something "My baby girl" would be incredibly bad script writing, even for a SW (c'mon, I have to admit that the dialogue really is not the strong suit of SW however I otherwise love the movies).

Who says Luke has to reveal he is Rey's father? It would make more sense if Maz or Han were to tell Rey. "I know those eyes" Maz says. I think this movie will answer the parentage question in some way.

Because we all want Luke to dramatically tell some one "No, I am your father!" But in all seriousness I agree.

How one feels about the dialogue in the films is a matter of personal opinion of course, but you have to admit that the films are incredibly quotable, even the obviously bad dialogue like Anakin's attempts to flirt with Padme, I think most fans have probably quoted that sand line more than once. Although I would hope it would be done for humor and not as part of an actual attempt to hit on a woman ;).

If we do find out that Luke is Rey's Father though, I doubt that his last line would be "My baby girl". I cringe just thinking about that.

To be honest, I'm unsure if Rey is related to any of the big three. She could be (and given the marketing, we are clearly led to believe this), yet at the same time she could not be. Regardless, what I was trying to say is that (in a hypothetical world, if she would, let us say, be related to Luke) in theatrical form, revealing that Luke was Rey's father in the 1st movie (of the three) could leave the audience wondering about the solution. About the questions, why was she abandoned? What happened to her mother? Etc... My guess is that something this big (if this was Lucasgroups's intention) would be dealt in more details in the second movie. I just read this interesting article in Wired where they dissect the shared universe concept. Kasdan speaks in it about the OT and how he realised how three movies could work as a three act concept. My guess is that this strategy will be employed also in the current trilogy.

Oh. I dearly hope so too!!

Edit. Having said this and to be back on-topic... So if Luke was married and Rey/Kylo/Finn/Hux was his child (or even better, all of them! ;)), I think this kind of revelation; that one of the new characters was his offspring, I think it would be dealt in 2nd movie, together with the history of his wife.
