Absolutely agree with this. Something must be missing--either Luke shows up and saves Finn's and Rey's asses, or else Rey's "awakening" is a truly epic moment worthy of the climaxes of the other films.

But I'm wondering about this--Kylo is clearly stalking Finn and Rey in the forest at night. Poe is leading the X-Wing charge in the morning. So what do you guys make of that chronological discrepancy?

I think they could have been filming the forest fight at Pinewood Studios in early September. Boyega's stunt double praised Ridley's stunt double for the work she was doing on September 3: "Hat off, round of applause and big shout out to Chloé D Bruce for the last 2 weeks with still a few days to come!! You 2 were machines today!!" Assistant Director Clare Glass tweeted that she was "Still managing to leave snow wherever I go" outside the studios on September 6.

Yes, but what I mean is that Kylo has his duel with Finn and Rey at night, then the sun rises, and then Poe shows up to destroy the Superweapon. It just seems like that duel lasts a good while in the night. Han Solo probably dies at night, then, too, just before this.

The sun rising will parallel Rey using the Light Side of the Force to beat Kylo, obviously. Could be quite stirring with John Williams's soundtrack.

It could be that for some reasons Poe and his squadron had to enter the atmosphere on the daylight side of the planet, then fly across the planet to the night side in order to get to where Han Solo and company were.

That's possible, too. But notice that the concept art of Rey taking the saber is during the day. I really do think the sunrise will be timed in the movie to match Rey's awakening. Star Wars always uses those sun shots thematically! ;-)

I only know about four of the stunt doubles being there, and Adam Driver's double wasn't mentioned as one of them. The four doubles were for Mayhew, Ford, Ridley, and Boyega. I mean there could be other people there but the person that mentioned those didn't elaborate any further that I've found.

If we are going by the MSW summary the scene from the first teaser with Kylo in the snowy forest is likely right after he kills Han and flees. He likely senses Finn and Rey chasing after him and ignites his blade. I don't think it is him stalking Rey and Finn.

The other option is that it is the scene right before Han confronts him but I think it fits better if it is after his encounter with Han

The final option is if you completely discount the MSW info is that this is after a confrontation with Rey and Finn and he just defeated them and while backtracking in the woods feels a disturbance in the force. He ignites his blade and out steps Luke to confront him

I would be happy with either a Luke-Kylo duel, or a Finn-Rey-Kylo duel. Also in regards to the duel being anticlimactic, if they continue to develop the characters in the future ST films then it could fit perfectly to have the first duel be "unfinished business" between the three main leads.

I guess we are going to see that double lightsaber duel scene just like Yoda/Sidious & Anakin/Obi Wan.

It's interesting that, according to the Slashfilm article, one of the big rumor details is wrong. The article didn't say which one, but my guess is that it's one of the following:
    1. Luke's screen time
    2. The identity of Rey's parents
    3. The relationship between Kylo Ren and Han Solo
    4. The fate of Han Solo

jj abrams is a terrific writer and this synopsis would be a downright stupid film star wars isn't about chasing mysterious artifacts

They were as happy as Hitler and Stalin when they made the Molotov Ribentropp pact. We are big friends, yeah.......secretly prepare to attack to the other. And Sidious did this several times before. Now he found a younger and potentially stronger apprentice, time for Vader to die. It´s all in the movie. They are Sith. They are not to be trusted, not even to each other.

Why are you showing me this clip? Should I repeat my questions??
Vader is TRAINING Inquisitors???? Where???? When??? Are they Sith????

I hate to beat a dead Bantha, but remember when Jeremy Conrad and Jason Ward went on about how much they hated Star Wars fans and were congratulating each other for making people believe fake spoilers? I know they didn't write this synopsis, but it is largely based on their information; I would not put it past them to push it as "100% legitimate" knowing that it is not, simply for the laughs. Remember, MSW is not a journalism site, it is a fan site that is not beholden to the truisms we seem to be projecting onto them.

All that being said, I agree that the story presented here is terribly anti-climactic. I'm still pulling for a Luke/Kylo duel while the rest escape, which would explain while Kylo "runs away": he senses his prey is nearby and pursues him instead of the ones who were only supposed to lead him to Luke.

Luke showing up out of nowhere would be some WWE level of nonsense.

    LUKE'S ENTRANCE MUSIC STARTS
Luke runs down to the ring
Commentator: Oh my gawd! Oh my gawd! Look who it is! He's back! Luke!...and he has a steel chair and a sword! We haven't seen him in ages! The Walker of the Skies!
Commentator 2: Where's he been?! Was he sitting around with a thumb up his ass backstage while the First Order and Kylo Ren was making its moves! His old compatriot is DEAD! DEAD! He's as useless as Yoda!
