9/10 for me, truly epic, I didn't see a lot of shockers coming but glad they did.

Those that have seen it...is it Best Picture at the Oscars worthy? I haven't seen yet just trying to gage my expectations for tomorrow.

I watched it yesterday at a premiere. I wouldn't say it's shocking, personally.

I saw almost everything coming, and it was very predictable, but NOT IN A BAD WAY. I enjoyed every turn even if I was seeing them all coming (the only unexpected thing I found was the cameo by a certain "cloaked" character).

The rest of the film, was pretty much what I expected and wanted it to be. It's not perfect, but this is an unique film and it never could have been perfect, because it's not meant to work as a stand-alone. but if you've followed and appreciated the building of the MCU, this is something very enjoyable.

Definitely not. It's not meant to.

But do you seriously base your expectations around if a film could be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars? If so, you'll miss a lot of different cinematic experiences.

Just saw Infinity War, loved it. It's a total payoff for those of us who have seen all the films since the first Iron Man. It's only flaw (perhaps) is that if you have NOT seen all 18 films then some of the payoff, emotion and connection to Infinity war won't payoff might not be as effective.

The interaction of most of the groups in the film is really, really well done and I really do feel the Marvel Universe is rich, well-managed and has a core strategic vision for fans and casuals alike. Well done.

Even though I know damn well Spider-Man 2 is in pre-production is death actually got to me a little. This bodes really well for a character that just a few years ago looked like it had shot itself in the foot too many times to ever come back effectively. Did Feige save Spider-Man from cinematic extinction?

Doctor Strange was a beloved character as a child and yes, Benedict Cumberbatch has him note-perfect. I wager he saw something and knew Tony had to live to see it through.

Captain Marvel is going to rock.

All the original Avengers survive (we don't know for sure about Hawkeye). Which makes me think somehow the next Avengers involves their sacrifice to save all the "new" characters who perish in Avengers 3. That said, I think Loki, Heimdall, Gamora and Vision stay dead for a long time. Gamora if only because she has a bunch of Avatar work ahead of her.

Interesting note, all rumors point to Adam Warlock NOT appearing in the next Guardians.

No of course not. As I said, it was just a gauge of what kind of expectations I should have for this movie. Cause I've heard of comments saying like it's as good as Empire Strikes Back.

I wouldn't compare it to TESB either. Two completely different films, in my opinion. Again, there's nothing else that can be compared to Infinity War right now. It's its own thing, with all the boons and downfalls that ensue from it.

It's best picture worthy like Return of the King was.
Is it likely the best singular film of 2018? No. But it is it one of the greatest feats in cinema history? Yes, yes it is.

For me, the new Marvel is not a perfect movie, but when there was any MCU-movie, that should earn the oscar as best movie, then it is this one? Not because of its deep story (because there is nothing like that) or because of its great action scenes (some of them were even a bit boring) and not because of the great charactization (because any characterization was outsourced to the other MCU-movies).

    No.

Just because there was no movie like this before. It just break any boundaries.

@Snazel I haven’t watch them all. Maybe half of them and most of the times I fell
asleep meanwhile. That to say, I’m sure I would have noticed many more details if my case
wasn’t that, but believe me, one may enjoy IW knowing little about the other 18 movies.
So much so, I was genualy curious to see that fandom reactions.
I was wondering if they - having expectations and knowing that universe and those
characters better than I do - would have had something to complain about.

I've never thought a Marvel movie would make me genuinely sad and look... Here comes Infinity War and it's not for the reasons you might expect. I don't really want to write anything more because I don't want to kill the mood for the people who liked it. Let's just say that in my opinion it undermined a lot of character work that was done for Thor, Starlord, Gamorra and even Scarlet Witch! I am not happy about it. Not happy at all.

I must say I liked the first Iron Man and the first Guardians of the Galaxy, I sort of liked Black Panther, but didn't really like any other Marvel movie to date. Perhaps it is my cultural background, but Avengers Infinity War...........what on earth did I just see. I thought it was really bad. But that's just me. I hope you guys enjoyed it!

I have no idea what you're answering. First of all, I can guarantee you I'm not a "Yank".

Secondly, I think you either under-read my post or confused it with someone else's. I never said it was like TESB. I said exactly the opposite, that they could never be compared, since they are completely different things that have nothing in common beyond being blockbuster films.

And no, even if I had to compromise a comparison, you would never caught me dead saying IW is as good as TESB.

Just got home from seeing it (a whole "day out" venture) and it definitely lives up to the hype for me. I think it's one of the best - if not the best - superhero movie I've ever seen. It truly makes fans who've seen all the movies or have been around for the past ten years feel something, and it's awesome. Was it perfect? No way. The CG was a little wonky at times for me, but that's it.

I didn't think the movie was too long either. It was just the right amount, despite me wanting so much more. The character interactions that made the first Avengers so entertaining were on full display here, and I could have watched them forever. Overall it was a shocking and entertaining good time.

Infinity War was amazing. Holy cow. I've never seen such a nonstop film. And it will never be a "best picture" movie but that's not really the point. It's a big event film. Nothing of this scale, with this much buildup, could ever have the stand-alone quality or the character depth that the Oscars look for. But there's a lot of depth there if you've been along for the journey.

    INFINITY WAR SPOILERS BELOW:

Were there some veiled, noncommittal Fantastic Four references throughout the movie? Tell me if I'm insane or if this is actually there. The song "Rubberband man." Drax trying to be invisible. Tony referring to Black Dwarf as a "thing." I can't remember any Human Torch hints after the first viewing, but I could be missing it. Am I just way overthinking this?

haha...........no. It is fun, but not particularly good or intelligent. I can understand why people love it. If you're invested in the franchise and have seen a whole range of these movies you probably love it. But just imagine if this is your first Marvel movie or if you've just seen one or two previously............you will find this movie to be very confusing.

That is not really a valid criticism in my mind. That is like complaining about not knowing what is going on in Game of Thrones when you just jumped in on the Red Wedding. This is the 19th movie of a franchise they don't have the time nor should they have to catch up someone who expects to jump right in. MCU requires commitment like any long running story.
