Collider crew just gave Civil War serious praise. Glad the reviews so far have been universally positive. I never believed the damage bad reviews could do to a film until Dawn of justice.

 

I'm happy to see the good reviews as well, I don't base my opinion on that of critics, but if a movie is getting either overwhelming praise or derision, there's usually a good reason. I would say that what films really live and die on though is word of mouth, critics may influence a small number of people who are on the fence, but most people are more affected by what they hear from friends and family. Hence the reason that BvS had such a huge opening weekend despite all the bad reviews, but then has had such a dropoff since. People are telling their friends and family that it is bad.

I am glad to see the Collider guys giving it great marks though, I mostly agree with their opinions on films like Civil War. The one who I don't really trust on that kind of stuff though is John Campea, I agree with his reviews sometimes, but I can't take anyone seriously who calls Man of Steel a masterpiece. I understand liking the film, but masterpiece? Really?

This is gonna be interesting .

 

Conservative predictions are putting Civil War with a 175 million debut. However it has a great chance of reaching 200 million +.

 

I am interested to see how they will be able to pull off Infinity War. I am really looking forward to seeing it (even more than CW), but at the same time I'm a bit apprehensive how they will be able to juggle all the characters that are bound to appear in the movie: Avengers + GotG + Captain Marvel + Black Panther + Doctor Strange + Spider Man (perhaps?) + and maybe some more. What I gather, CW has been very good at balancing each character in the movie, but add all those extras... It sounds almost like a director's nightmare to me, to be honest

 

As long as they have a solid story and a set group of main characters to follow I think they can do an alright job with it. You can throw as many characters as you want into something, as long as the audience has a set protagonist or small group of protagonists to focus on. If they try and give EVERY single character equal billing, that's when you start to run into problems. We don't need to know every characters perspective, just use them in cool ways that show off their powers. Granted, there are people who are going to be disappointed no matter what. If someone's favorite character isn't given much spotlight, it stands to reason that they will be a little irked.
