The Day is here. Civil War is out. What are everyone's thoughts.

I saw it last night. I thought it was very good. The airport battle truly is the bast comic book action scene yet set to film. Spider-man is note perfect but its
Giant Man that steals the show

The movie also got me really excited for Black Panther and Homecoming without feeling like I was watching an ad for those films. Seems like Marvel is starting to get their in film marketing more refined so that it doesn't beat you over the head so much.

I'm not sure where I'll rank this movie when all is said and done, but its definitely in my top tier for now. Without multiple viewings I'd tentatively rank it third in the MCU behind GotG and Avengers, and slightly ahead of TWS for being of about the same quality, but with the impressive Airport battle pushing it over the 2nd film. But with subsequent viewings that could move up or down?

    So, who else saw it?

I saw it five times already, I'm going on my sixth viewing in 10 minutes, absolutely awesome from start to finish, agreed the airport scene was the best of the fight scenes, Tom was a good choice for spidey.

I agree with everything you said ! It is hard to rank this one because, like you said the airport scene is without a doubt one of the greatest set pieces in movie history... really... ha ha. It is funny... when I discussed the Marvel movies with my friend afterwards I didn't even think of GotG... though that is toward the top. My 3 favorite are Iron Man 1, The Avengers, and CA-TWS. I can't place a certain order on them though, just that they are the 3 best. Captain America Civil War goes straight into the top favorites with those 3.

It wasn't what I was expecting but it was probably around a 7 out of a 11.

I knew that this movie was getting good reviews. I liked The Avengers AOU , but it wasn't the greatest thing ever. It is in the middle of my ranking of the MCU. I think my least favorite is Iron Man 3, which is ok... I have it on FX in the background right now. Ant-Man was fun... and the The Cure music moment was a personal delight. So the MCU was revving up for me after after a moment where they were firing on all cylinders - The Avengers, Captain America - TWS, and GotG. Captain America Civil War gets me right back to that sweet spot. RDJ said he might be up for another Iron Man, I hope he does it, I have the enthusiasm now for it after seeing this. Again, that airport set piece was great... pure film magic.

The movie was pure cinematic joy. I have to see it again for sure.

I loved character interactions, action, humor, emotional parts. And we got a villain not out to destroy the world with gazillion minions, but smart and focused. And he actually won against the Avengers.

I didn't think I would be excited for Spiderman ever again, now I actually am. The super powered kid with motormouth - that's Spiderman. Plus, Black Panther could be my most anticipated Marvel movie now.
Ant/Giant Man was great, from destroying Tony's suit from the inside to stomping everyone. Paul Rudd is a treasure. The humorous exchanges between T'Challa/Clint, Sam/Bucky, Tony/Spiderman, Cap/Spiderman, and many others were fantastic. This could easily become the most quotable MCU film. I'm really liking what Russos are doing and now I have high hopes for Infinity War or whatever they eventually name the movies. Add to this cast Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Wasp and Guardians... it has the potential to explode our minds.

Saw it last night. It was awesome. I enjoyed it. Scarlet Johannson was the highlight for me but as always Chris Evans was great too. Love their scenes together. Love the whole movie!!!

Loved the film, saw the premiere on Thursday. Definitely in my top 5 MCU films of all time, but on the verge of being in my top 10 Marvel films of all time ( it may be in there, it's close). Chadwick Boseman knocked it out of the park as the Black Panther.

Him and Tom Hollands introductions were so natural and fitting it blew me away, what a difficult combination to pull off in one movie. I could go into every actor and characters performance, but I don't even think it's necessary. Want to know why? Not one fell short, except for my good friend Baron Zemo. I love Daniel Bruhl too, just felt like he was a bit of an extra piece in this one. He only enhanced what Cap, Bucky, and Tony would have already had conflict about. Only other thing that was a bit off for me was the CG, I felt like it could have been better, but nothing enough to bother me. Don't want to say any more or I'll be giving away some spoilers.

I credit Kevin Feige, this guy is amazing and knows the Marvel universe just about as well as anybody. Feige truly grasps who these characters are and what defines them. Casting is jaw dropping as always ( I WANT X-MEN). The Russo brothers are the blast. They do such an exceptional job with buildup, climax, and a they always carry a super aggressive attitude towards these movies (which I love, The First Avenger could have used more of that). I hope they make as many of these movies as Marvel will allow them. However, I probably had one too many brews during my first viewing. Too much anticipation getting there an hour beforehand, all credit to my favorite theatre Movie Tavern. I'll be seeing it again tomorrow sometime in the afternoon and I can truly take it in.

Off course in October 2017, the first two were impressive, it's a shame Natalie Portman aka Jane Foster won't be returning.

I also wasn't a big fan of Baron Zemo and his entire reason for existing in THIS universe wasn't the best reason to try to turn everyone against each other and then what he tries to do after he fails was also stupid to me.

What? Baron Zemo didn't fail, he is the only MCU villain to accomplish their goal. He wants the Avengers to to be torn apart, and he totally succeeds. Not only are Black Panther, and Cap & his people fugitives by the end of the film, but Stark and his people are public figureheads with no real power anymore.

The Russos and Daniel Bruhl teased that Zemo was being set up for future installments. I can't wait to see a Masters of Evil film!

I'd say Loki accomplished his goal in Tor 2, but I agree with the sentiment. Zemo was a refreshing villain. Different than what we've seen before. Far more nuanced. I thought his motivation was note perfect. A broken man who lost everything in his world as collateral damage in a battle he had no stake in, desperately seeking revenge against people oblivious to the damage the caused. He was a great counterpoint to Afre Woodard's character as different ways of coping with the same grief. Creative takes on villains like they did with Zemo are what will keep the MCU fresh and vital instead of becoming stale and cliched.
