Odin married Frigga and had Thor after sealing away Hela; it seems like it was part of his quest to rewrite history. By having a new heir to the throne people would eventually forget about the previous one.

Will Disney acquire FOX? Will we have the X-Men and FF in the MCU?

That would be great, as Disney is probably the only one that can save the FF at this point. Besides I want Doctor Doom in the MCU!

It would be way to hard at this point to introduce the entire race of mutants, it just wouldn't make sense. If they did buy FOX i'd say reboot X-Men as its own separate universe. Fantastic Four though is prime MCU material.

Nothing creative storytelling couldn't resolve. SHIELD has its own watchlist of powered individuals and there were a number of superheroes before Iron Man. The term mutant never being devised, SHIELD keeping the population under wraps, mutants going underground all are simple resolutions. Hell, you could even set X-Men films in the far future. The point is nothing is impossible when it comes to comic universes.

After Infinity War, it's a blank slate.
You could make all the X-Men movies as a byproduct of the events and really tie them in from the get go.

I feel like any explanation will feel really convoluted, the whole "they have been here the whole time" shtick is lazy. The best case scenario would be using the Infinity Gauntlet to quasi-reset the MCU (also using it as an opportunity to recast any actors who wish to leave and that sort of thing) but even that I feel like will be hard to pull off. I stand by just having the X-Men exist alone in its own Cinematic Universe.

I still feel like a future setting could set. There's so many X-Men storylines with post-apocalyptic futures, you can easily introduce them with time travel.

Honestly though, I doubt a sale with Disney will go ahead, so who knows?

My problem with setting X-Men entirely in a MCU future is that there are many characters in the X-Men world that are tied to the 20th Century. Magento is a Nazi Germany survivor, Xavier was a WW2 Veteran, Colossus lived under Communist Soviet Union, Logan lived through it all. So I feel like you do these characters a disservice by taking them away from that. In fact I think if anything the X-Men should always be set in the 60's at the start (like First Class did). I think it works best as a period piece and thus would fit better as its own universe. But I agree I think out is unlikely the sale will go through.

Technically speaking, Mutants existed for years in the Marvel Comics Universe and they weren't really important until the (comic book time) 1960s. They can find a plausible excuse to make one up and if there isn't one, throw in a retcon that fundamentally changes the nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the result of some cosmic event.

The talks ended up being dumped before it was even reported. People are just hyping it up now.

    Unfortunately, yes.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think the Signerverse has run its course.

I liked his first two X-Men movies, but I want to see something besides the same stuff we've seen before for the last several years.

Give the X-Men some personalty! Colorful costumes! Something besides the leather outfits and characters with no development.

And the FF has been pretty much ruined by Fox.

Talks can resume after being disbanded - that's exactly what happened with Spider-Man. What's more important, IMO, is that a major studio has suddenly decided that they want to cash out.
Given that Singer apparently just shut his Twitter account down and there's the whole Hollywood investigation into sexual harassment going on right now, I'd say that it's more than his role in the setting that's finished...

Really? Interesting. I remember hearing something similar about Signer when Days of Future Past came out.

I finally got to see it and enjoyed every second of it. I dig Thor and Loki together (Hiddleston and Hemsworth have good chemistry) as much as I do Thor and Hulk. I love that we finally get to see more humanness out of the Hulk. Now I await for the inevitable betrayal and for Loki to let me down.

LOL, that is hard to believe coming from the guy who gave me a negative post rating for sharing a meme that expressed how I feel that Suicide Squad was garbage.

I personally thought Ragnarok was the worst MCU movie to date. The one Thor storyline that shouldn't be a comedy they made into a comedy. And everybody praises it because its "fun" even though the "fun" does a disservice to all the returning characters and makes jokes out of the important new ones. There was so much I disliked about Ragnarok from dialogue to plot choices to the characters themselves but the best way to describe my feelings is this: When it should have been Logan it tried to be Deadpool.
