MVS theory on him being Kanan might be true then = Old Rebel = tv series Rebels! This could tie both trilogies together.

Is the lightsaber hers? (Yes why she keeps it in BB-8) Why do they give it to Leia? (So they can confirm it's Luke's?) Why does Rose have it? (Flashback scene to locate Luke) Why does Finn deflect laser blasts with no training? (Like Luke from ANH with only training of deflecting a blaster)

Gleeson is the son of a huge character? (Major classic characters Han, Luke, ??)

Not sure if she qualifies as "huge" but maybe Mon Mothma?

What we have here is failure to articulate. I do agree that both the second teaser and the VF piece have proven some rumors to be likely now but still, not proven. Hell, JJ said Jakku was Jakku and there is still some debate if it is or was Tatooine. So, will we ever really have true confirmation before the movie comes out? :)

    I
So does the fact that it's Star Wars and has familiar locations, vehicles and characters in it.

This argument keeps coming up, as if The Force Awakens somehow needs something more we don't already know about to "connect all the dots together" in the most notable cases dots that aren't even there.

I mean, Luke Skywalker is in this movie. Han Solo is in this movie. Princess Leia is in this movie. Chewbacca is in this movie. C-3PO and R2-D2 are in this movie, X-wings, Tie Fighters, Star Destroyers, stormtroopers, lightsabers, blasters and the Millennium Falcon are in this movie.

What more connective tissue do you need?

Gwendolyn Christie was confirmed to be Captain Phasma by Vanity Fair. Adam Driver was also confirmed to be Kylo Ren by VF pictures with his mask off. The Tie fighter theft is more than likely what we are seeing in the trailer. Some common sense needs to be used here people. As for the Luke rumors, we have yet to hear anyone else explain what Luke is doing during this movie other than waiting at his doorstep for Rey to bring him his old light saber. The guarding a tomb idea has yet to be debunked by anything confirmed, so it's still in play.

The person that submitted this info was anonymous to Making Star Wars. This wasn't their normal source. This person even has Jason Ward believing they might know something and he posted it. Now, 3 months later we are getting confirmation that SOME of this posters rumors are accurate. The others are simply rumors. I think it's foolish to ignore when a poster has some details correct, and other details that HAVE NOT yet been debunked. Sure, we may have other rumors not confirming these rumors. But rumors don't debunk other rumors.

Im really not sure I understand why people are so sensitive when it comes to speculation and sorting through the rumors.

I remember this article. The majority of this stuff that MSW wrote were from rumors that popped up here in the cantina weeks before he wrote that article

i'm starting to think some people on this board work for JJ/Lucasfilm and want us to go down rabbit holes. I think some of us are not on the side of getting legit info out. I know fake info has been leaked to fan sites but I think fake people are trying to draw us away from the truth. To say anything in the article is confirmed is a stretch and makes me think you want us looking at false rumors and believe they are true. How much talk have we had about the force "waking up" since the first teaser. It seems like the force being "asleep" is a pretty big deal but we don't talk about it or how it fits into the plot or rumors at all. I think JJ is doing a damn good job of not letting us know to much.

I am not so quick to dismiss this, and here is why:

"Finn and company steal an advanced TIE and unfortunately it crashes, injuring Finn.

This bit is confusing to me and doesn’t necessarily line up with how I thought things unfolded. None the less, Finn being injured in a TIE crash does line up with how he ends up in the Wagon Speeder, and the source does mention that stuff too."

( FYI: I was irritated how he spelled nonetheless. I have a feeling I am not alone on that one. Anyway...)

I find this part VERY interesting, and apparently Jason Ward did as well. I don't recall any speculation about him being injured after the wreck - probably because it is a fairly boring and insignificant detail to ponder over by fans. Sure, he or she still could have made it up to give the lie more subtlety. However, I would argue that this injury does not seem like the kind of detail that a hoaxer would concoct, because it could give away the lie. Hoaxers usually stay safely within the bounds of the more well known scenes. I believe a fake leaker would portray that scene nearly word for word as MSW reported, thus avoiding any inconsistencies that could reveal inauthenticity.

Furthermore, no where is this scene discussed by MSW:

"The old guy reveals to Rey that the crystal in the lightsaber they are holding has the ability to open the tomb Luke is guarding. If accurate, this could explain why the lightsaber is so important and why our heroes only have one while on the sand planet in the depictions I’ve seen."

Even though this scene was not disclosed by MSW, it does seem to appear in the second teaser:

    Teaser2012.jpg

I think this leaker does have at least some authentic information. However, things get really tricky here. This leaker still could have revealed legitimate information on some topics that he or she had access to, but made up the rest (as I believe Spoilerman did). As previously stated, it is extremely unusual for someone to have this much information, but it is not unprecedented.

Edit: I just realized MSW may not have been describing Finn being injured as being an inconsistency, but instead was probably referring to Rey being with Finn and Poe during their escape. I am not sure what Ward means by "this bit" - it is somewhat confusing. Nonetheless, my second point about the scene in the teaser stands.

This is something I have considered for a while but I find it more likely that what Rey is guarding is the staff she carries which as many have said could be related to Plagueis. Also the way she is carrying it in the running scene on teaser 2 makes me feel it's more important than a simple fighting stick.
I also like the part about Luke being tormented by spirits, perhaps he talks with the disembodied spirit of Plagueis? Perhaps he is talking to Luke in the first teaser?
I have the idea that Luke never started an academy, I think that because of what happened to his father and his own close encounter with the dark side he decided not to train many people for fear that they could turn, perhaps he trained her sister and niece only. They could have been the only force users for many years until recently when new ones are awakening like Kylo and Finn.
Anyway if there is any tomb at all and either lightsaber, crystal or whatever artifact can open it, why can't they simply destroy it? Does it need to be destroyed in the fires where it was forged too? Whas it forged in Alderaan?..

I too think Serkis's lines in the trailer could be directed at Luke. In fact I wrote up a post about it here

I've always liked the idea of Luke being tormented by his visions of a greater evil returning.

Actually I think it is probably the other way around. But yeah, they seem to be rehashing and retelling old ideas in both Rebels and in Episode VII. The Clone Wars cartoon was guilty of this many times as well. Many people have noticed this for years, and have talked about how they seem to be running out of original story ideas, and I agree. That is one of the many reasons Star Wars could be in trouble for its long term future. People could leave in droves if Episode VII sucks, and become sick and bored with anything Star Wars. The die hard fans would remain, but they could lose a lot of potential money in merchandising. This could be a new topic for another thread though.

But MSW probably got some, if not all, of that scene right. You can see a part of the TIE fight/theft scene in the teaser.
