Well Luke's old lightsaber was his dad's and what if Anakin had come across something a crystal that is a key to a tomb etc that his old saber has. Kylo Ren who has been going through everything about Vader came across this maybe in a holocron.

I hope this is proven true. It would weaken palpatine as a character for the new villain to be "the guy behind palpy". Would the 4th trilogy just be about a new super secret guy pulling plagious's strings?

Nothing in the clone wars or any movie to suggest it's anything other than a lightsaber. I think this is a red herring.

I see your point but I don't think it necessarily diminishes Palpatine's accomplishments. Plagueis seemed to be concerned with other interests, mainly the search for immortality and mastery of the force. While he was certainly the guy behind palpy in some way, as he was his master and helped design the grand plan, he was not around since his presumed death, so Palpatine accomplished much of what he did on his own.
In my opinion the only thing we should assume Plagueis was better at is cheating death and avoiding the prophecy.

Although I think good writers can get almost anything to work, I do not particuarly like the lightsaber rumor. That said, and pardon my ignorance, but do we know where Anakin got that lightsaber from? Is the construction covered anywhere in canon? (I have a crap memory, and I haven't watched much of Clone Wars yet).

I think it was in AOTC during the rescue at the Battle of Geonosis (and Padme and him we captured) that he was given this one by a fellow Jedi. The Separatists probably took his original one away in the capture.

That said, I could be wrong about it (I also haven't seen the Clone Wars cartoon so something could've happened there regarding this matter).

He was given a new one during the battle on Geonosis yes, but he probably built himself a new one some time afterwards. It would be nice to see some screens on that lightsaber though, just to be sure it's not the same.

Do we know if the gift lightsaber is the one he kept onto, which was passed on to Luke? If so, it COULD have come form anywhere, and writiers could in theory invent a funky backstory for the lightsaber involving how it secretly doubles as a memory stick with coordinates to a certain grimdarkian's tomb. (Note, I don't favor this theory at all. But if there is no canonical origin to the lightsaber, anything is possible)

It would depend on how it was framed. If Darth Sidious was the only person to ever defeat the Uber Villain, and was the reason for his current less-than-perfect state of health, it might actually make Sidious seem like even more of a badass. Maybe Uber was stronger, but Sidious was more connving and clever.

Perhaps Anakin had hid the coordinates to a secluded place he had found. Perhaps he was going to take Padme' and their kids there until he started having the dreams of her death. Kylo wants the saber because he collects Vader / Sith artifacts. Someone recognizes it as Luke's and tries to get it to Leia. They find the coordiantes and wonder if Luke might be there because he had found them too.

I didn't read all the topic posts yet.
I really don't see how or why Luke's blue saber or even Vader's red saber needs to be such a major plot point.
If, IF it's like the mythical Staff of Ra as in Raiders of the Lost Ark(Lucas and Kasdan; 1980-1981), this might be a key but to me that's lame storytelling, :( .
I also don't see MVS's role being the disgruntled Gran Moff or a retired Rebel Alliance general. Who or what role he plays should be significant considering a actor of Sandow's standing but I don't really know who or what he might have worth the wrath of the First Order or Kylo Ren.

My $$$ is a climax or 3rd act TESB type shocker where a young lead or main character will be revealed to be a Sith agent or in league with the trilogy's main villain(Darth Plaguis). A Raven type story or even a ADM Thrawn is possible but Plaguis makes the most sense.
Darth Plaguis ties all 9 films together.

I think the Saber is simply an Artifact desired by the New Sith Order. I highly doubt it contains anything significant as if it did Vader would have known and wanted it for himself, and the Saber could have been easily taken from Luke or found at Cloud City after the duel.

Anakin's saber in question is it not the one used when he fought Obi-Wan in ROTS and if so then Obi-Wan took it. Anakin going through his transition in his new life support suit and all the mental chaos from what he did and losing Padme the saber would be the last thing on his mind only pain and anger.

As far as I know it's never explicitly stated where he got it, but it's not the gift lightsaber (which had a green blade btw and was also destroyed by Dooku) and the lightsaber he's using in ROTS is definitely his own design, hence his AOTC lightsaber (which is destroyed in the Droid factory sequence) looking much the same, as well as the saber he uses as Darth Vader.

Hm... Did I understand you guys correct here, in that the lightsaber that Obi-Wan gives Luke was not used by Anakin in the PT? Or did I misunderstand what you sayd? (That can't be right?)

Anakin use the lightsaber from the arena battle in AOTC until he was defeated by Obi Wan in ROTS, Obi Wan picked it up after the battle.

(he can have constructed a new one after the battle at geonosis)

Has anybody even bothered to look at his "gift" lightsaber?

It's not only a completely different design, it's GREEN.

You are soo right! And I´m personally pretty tired of "tie" anytihing. I get it - they count stupid moviegoers too, but, what about us, with a decent IQ and IMAGINATION?

OOOOOOOOOOORRRRR......what if, because of what you´ve said - Luke said goodbye to Jedi and became normal man, with wife and daughter...... :) he taught her nothing, everything went well until one day.....wife killed, daughter presumably killed, Luke escaped....

I guess it's possible but while I can imagine Luke being reluctant to teach many new people I don't see him completely abandoning the jedi way. I don't mean the wife and daughter part, that is highly probable in my opinion and I don't see Luke following the dogmatic views of the jedi council in this regard.
