Hahaha. I fully understand what the "Mystery Box" actually is. I just think it's funny how it's become a term for JJ spreading misinformation.

What if Luke has been guarding the tomb for a long time and being tortured and communicating with Uber's spirit, then at one point in the movie Luke is forced to leave to save his loved ones leaving his guard duty. Perhaps this dialogue happens near the end of the movie and Uber is saying it in a mocking way to Luke "There has been an awakening, have you felt it?" (You have failed and I'm resurrected)

I like this idea. It mirrors Luke's dilemma in ESB. He didn't sacrifice his friends then and I don't think he will again, if this proves correct.

What's interesting is we've heard Jason Ward live by the idea that Luke is in one scene at the very end, but he has yet to tell us what he's been doing the entire movie. Or why he was in multiple filming locations. Or why everyone is looking for Luke. Surely it's not because they desperately want to return an old lightsaber to him that he hasn't needed for 30 plus years.

One last thing regarding the mystery box, JJ seems to be using A LOT of mystery box moments in this movie. I feel like he's going to have us asking TONS of questions even after the credits roll.

We are missing some big plot moments. I'm willing to put focus that the characters that are important to the plot, or important to the movie where sitting on that couch for the read-through. Andy Serkis' role is not being discussed anywhere. JJ is holding that one so close to his chest that it's almost sewn into his skin.

The irony is that he coined the term in a really nauseatingly stupid TED talk.

Reality is that he makes very formulaic movies that you anyone could make educated guesses about and be on the money. They should make a board game around it. That'd be a way to put the spoiler sites out of business.

Story telling in general is very formulaic. Screenplays for movies, even more so. You are constrained by time. When JJ has had the freedom to tell a story his way, he has not been at all formulaic. TV shows like Lost, Fringe, Alias, etc.

Back to the topic at hand....I think what intrigues me about these rumors and the story in general is why and how the lightsaber becomes important to the story. Will it be believable or will we be rolling our eyes?

Uh no it's really not. But what constitutes for storytelling in a big budget Hollywood film certainly is. Abrams takes it even a step further and directly attempts to imitate other filmmakers and somehow gets praises for it.

Let's not get into a debate on what makes a great story. You're dislike for Abrams is noted. I for one am excited and optimistic based on what I've seen and heard. Now move along.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize this conversation revolved around what you wanted it to be. If you can't handle disagreement I think it's you that needs to sit on the bench for a minute and stop giving people negative marks just because you disagree with them.

That's so cute how you casually dismiss what I'm actually saying here and try to bury the conversation like you can just do that. I get that you're giving me marks for trolling but that's not what's actually happening here.

You're the one that hijacked the discussion and made it about your dislike for JJ. If you're looking for debate on JJs ability, then don't just come out and bash his TED conversation and basically call him a hack. Sorry, this threads topic is about rumors that may or may not be true, not JJs ability to write a story.

Uh no that's not what happened. There was no hijacking I responded to what other people were talking about in this thread and you're taking this very personal and trying to kill debate when nothing was personally directed at you because you didn't like what I had to say.

Ya know some people like McDonald's but when you order a Big Mac, we know what's in that thing. It's not much of a mystery.

And it's okay if you like it, that doesn't mean the Big Mac is actually a porterhouse steak.

    You have two choices:

    or

Marvel Star Wars comic #56: Coffin in the Clouds (Oct 1981)
But that is out of sync with everything that came after (Bespin is not even a gas giant yet for example) :p

The whole Anakin's lightsaber being a key to the tomb. makes no sense whatsoever. It's a lightsaber!

Also, I don't think uber is in the tomb....i think the whole uber= bane, plagues etc etc....is a separate character from what's in the tomb. Uber is just a sith lord above kylo.

Sticking with Kylo being "the grave robber" in the old rumors. .....i feel it will just be a sub plot. His obsession of finding sith and vader related artifacts Gets the plot moving in the film. But it's not the driving force Of the plot.

The thing with the lightsaber is very strange. I mean... Luke lost it, did he hide the plans to his location and then lost it again?

I think its got such a strong connection to the force, having been held by luke, obi and vader.

I think its the artifact ren wants, and in looking find something greater

If that were the case, then why would Leia send Poe to get it?

There's got to be more to it than just being the ultimate Sith collector's item. I've read dozens of guesses, but so far nothing has managed to explain it's value/importance in a way that makes sense based on what we know about the story. I'm pretty sure there is, in fact, more to it. I just don't think anyone has figured it out yet. The sticking point may come down to some detail that MSW interpreted incorrectly that we've all been taking for granted.
