RUMOR MSW.net Rumour emails - Any thoughts?

Making Star Wars just released some plot rumors related to some cantina fan fiction made here but I'll post it here because it could contain spoilers in the new Sith.

 

Rumor Dump.. what do you all think?


what angers me : is Luke again going to be made out be some kind of a not so good user of the force? isn't it time we got away from that old trope of story telling.. the older teacher who has failed (yet) again.. (see youda, obi wan, gandalf, dumbledore etc.)

 

Some of it sounds like it could be really cool. Other parts sound like the stuff one of the members on here came on and started telling us while saying goofy stuff like "I don't know when I'll be back next" "I'm close to the production" blah blah blah. Those of you who read it know what I'm talking about. That being said I really don't know if the stuff in the emails are existing rumors elaborated on by this persons imagination or what. The fact that they list names of some new characters is interesting. Having seen some of this stuff pop up elsewhere in scenarios where it seemed as though it was down right trolling, I have a hard time assuming more that about 20-30% of it is true.

The one piece of the info I do find very interesting is the talk about the new imperial and rebel weapons. This sounds pretty interesting and I think both of them sound cool without doing a rehash of old weapons like a Death Star III that has been mentioned a few times in speculation.

The emailer also supports the idea that the crystal in the Anakin/Luke saber is key to the opening of the tomb. This has been speculated on a lot and I personally don't like this idea. IF this actually happens in the film I want a few things to be explained about it.
A. How was the saber found after seemingly falling into oblivion.
B. How did this crystal within the saber suddenly have this ability of unlocking a tomb that has never been mentioned in the past containing a sith lord to which we have never had any knowledge of their captivity/existence in the past.

The situation with the "Ancient Sith Lord Tomb" is the biggest problem with any speculation I am having. It sounds like a really cool idea on its own but I just have a hard time feeling comfortable with it fitting in to the existing story. Palpatine and Vader were the remaining Sith through the OT and the story was focused on that in a way that now saying "oh well there was this other guy" makes that plot line seem a bit outlandish. It would all depend on how it's done but even in the 30 years between ROTJ and TFA I don't see how you could just say something like "After the events of ROTJ an ancient sith was discovered and locked away" or even " After the events of ROTJ an ancent tomb was found with a Sith Lord locked away inside." The only way I can see it playing out and making some sense with the existing story is if it's that Luke discovered the tomb and can feel a dark presence inside. He doesn't know if its a person or what just that it is extremely dark and feels he must keep the tomb protected from someone trying to discover what exactly is inside. That being said, the idea that they would know the crystal from his old saber would open the tomb still doesn't work. How does it possess that power and how do you know it opens the tomb? If you have a ring of keys and I tell you to open a door are you going to know which key opens the door? You cant know unless you have already opened it. The Tomb and the Saber crystal opening it just stand out to me as either the most misinterpreted or the most bogus details we have seen "leaked/speculated".

 

The majority of this we've already seen posted on here in the past few weeks. Not much new here. The Leia stuff goes into a bit more details

I read through this earlier this morning, like you say parts of it are a good read but the source does deviate and throw in their own speculation...
Also that this person vanished and cut contact after revealing their real name by mistake is intriguing and has left me leaning more towards this being speculation than a real itk leak.

Also, something that bothers me and I have been meaning to ask for everybody's opinion on- IF Kylo Ren is a Solo and the names are Kylo Ren Solo & Kira Rey Solo as these sources have stated (which I do like the sound of) why would Disney reveal that the son of Solo is the big baddy so early on in the playing cards? Would that not give away the identity of this mysterious masked cloaked figure as soon as his named is dropped in the movie as a Solo child?

EDIT: I don't really post much on this site and haven't logged on for a while (I just read what you all type without getting involved) but it seems some muppet has recently gone to all my posts to disliked them all and trolled my ratings since I last logged on.....very strange folk on the internet!

Completely agree. Like I said maybe 20-30% is true but that 20-30% we have already heard before. The most interesting thing to me is the super weapons section but who knows if it is accurate.

I would be SHOCKED if the Luke section and the dialogue is accurate. That much detail really makes me feel like this stuff is mostly speculation.

 

I agree that some of it is tough to swallow (being ridiculously salty and all). However, it would make sense that Luke goes on Force info finding sojourn or walkabout after ROTJ. Perhaps he found some references to this ... or simply felt the Awakening.

 

I thought it still canon, my bad.


About the whole rumor, I liked most things I read. There are things that sound silly but overall it sound good. But as @Viral Hide said, "This more looks like a collection of all the rumors we've heard".

 

There are definitely some points that make sense. Most of it we have already heard though.

I'm just really not into the "Sith lord in a tomb" plot line as it had been explained any way. It just stands out as "holey" to me.
Along with the saber crystal too as I mentioned before. Also he makes mention of info being stored in the saber.
So the saber has a crystal that opens the tomb with the mega villain AND it has plans for the imperial super weapon in it?

wow.....that saber no one seemed to care about before is really the s**t now a days.

Pretty tight space to go stashing stuff in....

 

Sounds like taking all the speculation from the Cantina and turning it into a giant fan-fic. No disrepect to Jason of course, don't shoot the messenger!

 

Most of it just seem recycled, but that's just me.

 

It's exactly what it is. The majority of that has already shown up here in The Cantina. Very little of it is new info

 

Very, very, very, little here that hasn't already been established as speculation or rumor. The Luke Skywalker reveal sounds dreadful. Kasdan and Abrams wouldn't let that fly. I'm calling BS.
