RUMOR MSW.net Rumour emails - Any thoughts?

Agreed. It seems like this person compiled a list of things that have been going around and haven't been debunked. Then they added a few things of their own to come across more genuine. To be fair to Jason at MSW, he mentioned this in his post. However, as to the person who sent the e-mail, if it was fake (seems likely) ... you have to wonder about their psychology. Just come here and share your ideas with us (of course without falsely claiming to have insider info). Why be an attention-monger?

 

Certainly an interesting read. To keep it short and sweet it has issues here and there, which could of course be simply due to incomplete or erroneous rumor, but all in all it does have a Star Wars feel to it.

I like the portion about Luke, which rumor has been all abuzz about that anyways. And I was very skeptical when I heard there would be two super weapons in the film, but as they are present here it makes me feel at least a little better about that.

However the Rebel weapon as described here will hopefully be different. I'm actually a fan of a big EMT weapon, but I'd prefer it to be indiscriminate as to which ships are affected. A big EMT blast should knock out anything electrical within range and lacking proper shielding, thus producing a moral issue to anyone using it.

 

At the very least ... the Rebellion's version would be different than past SW superweapons. The super duper Star Destroyer thingy just sounds like a faster and more mobile Death Star.

 

What I specifically like about the rumor they presented is that the Rebels have built the superweapon as a response to the Empire's superweapon. Basically, mirroring real wars like World War I and World War II, it's one side saying "we don't like the use of method X, but so long as you use it then so shall we!"

 

it all sounded amazing to me.. but haven't been on these forums long and it was mostly all new to me. the ancient tombs stuff really reminds me of knights of the old republic. excellent read true or not.

 

I agree that we have seemed to have heard a lot of this before and it is starting to get harder and herder to discern truth from fiction. Jason states in his article

I'm sure he will eventually get around to it but it would sure be great if he could clarify what lines up and what doesn't.

Agreed. While the weapons seem like the most tasteful thing of all the info, that doesn't make them true. The up and down fluctuation of who has the most power throughout the info is staggering. The Empire are so desperate for troops they basically create a mandatory draft then a little further down there is barely any existence of the rebellion left.

No knock on MSW here due to him clearly stating he finds a lot of it contradictory but us Cantina members will be all too familiar with most of this material than the average fan who occasionally checks SW news sites out.

 

I haven't heard any arguing yet on this thread, just civil discussion. Which is a good thing.

Only things that are new there for me:

-The EMT megaweapon developed by the Republic... seems to make sense given the downed star destroyers seen in artwork. At least it's not a Death Star 3.

-The forced enlisting of Empire troops, Finn included

-The specific characters in the Pirate's Cove

P.S. This sounds like a clusterfudge of a movie... lots and lots and lots of new characters with backstory after backstory with OT connections... eh... be positive! Hopefully some of this is fake.

 

Sounds a lot like a fake leak, speculation and the like. But I can tell whoever sent that email to Jason lurks on the cantina

The contradiction is probably Leia's role and Kylo Ren's backstory. We still have yet to hear from any solid source anything remotely confirming Kylo Ren Solo, just speculation

Yeah I completely agree with the poster who said that the source is a lurker here. There are just way to many references in those emails to past posts I have read here.

This is definitely a hoax.

 

I'm surprised by this move.

Surely he would have to know that this could deliver a major blow to his credibility.

Things that have been rehashed here several times and generally dismissed is the kind of stuff he's posing as possible spoilers now? (Disclaimers aside).

I realize that news is generally slow, and has been for a while, but sheesh.

 

On these rumors and these rumors alone, unfortunately I have to say congratulations on a film that comes across worse than TPM.

Am praying that this is a fake link.

 

Whether or not this is true, the lines "You’ve failed, Skywalker. Have you felt it? Your struggle with the darkside and the light" sent chills down my back. My faith in TFA is restored.

 

I think it's amazing just how many rumors even ones people think are new can be traced back to Spoilerman.

Whether he is just completely full of crap or he was someone meant to misdirect us ...it has no doubt worked.
People are still speculating on things they don't realize started with his posts.

I'm sure we will see the not directly SW related movie sites acting as if some of the info in the emails is a new "leak"

 

This lines up to a few previous rumors that have already been floating around. I still don't like the idea of Han Solo getting killed. If he does get killed, it needs to be in a heroic way. Either way, no matter how heroic they might make his death, there will be many people who won't like it either way.
