A weaponized EMT ? Isn't that an ion cannon? Maybe just a portable version of the giant one used on Hoth?

And (because this rumor keeps popping up) back to opening Sith tombs : perhaps the key to open this particular tomb/shrine is a weapon or power that has killed a Sith lord? Palpatine was thrown down a shaft, Vader died from force lightning-related injuries - so the most recent Sith death by saber was Dooku losing his noggin to the Bespin saber, no?
Or maybe simply a weapon that has killed Jedi? Vader and Palpatine's sabers were presumably lost in the Death Star II, so that would again leave us with the Bespin saber, used by Anakin during Order 66.

I don't get why the object used to open the tomb if there even is a tomb in TFA because there are multiple plot problems with it (see earlier posts) has to be a lightsaber crystal.

With all this talk of relics being hunted down in other rumors wouldn't it make more sense for something else to be the key and have characters on both sides hunting for it? That sounds better to me than the crystal out of the Anakin/Luke saber miraculously being the key to opening a tomb which we currently have no canon reference to.

The emails mention the crystal is the key and the saber also had plans to the Imperial super weapon in it......wait a second right there..

So the lightsaber than Luke lost in the ESB battle with Vader is just suddenly back and in Rey's possession and it has weapon plans in it (rehash anyone?) and the crystal opens a tomb now?

@MakingStarWars Jason, would you be willing to let us know when some of these emails came to you? Just thinking that if these were prior to a lot of rumors already out there, it might give additional credibility to these rumors. Whereas if they were sent to you over the last few days, then maybe they are indeed just taking the rumors already out there (picking and choosing) which ones to include or add their own substance to make it seem more like they have inside info.

I was just theorizing why the Bespin saber could work. It wouldn't have to be just that lightsaber. If someone found a clawhammer used to kill Darth Corky 1,000 years ago, that would theoretically work, too.

The Bespin saber is just the one that could most likely show up, and be something fans would recognize, instead of some arbitrary new macguffin.

We know of a Sith shrine, why can't there be more, or tombs? That was the motivation for the new canon. To make room in both the past and future for further exploration, story-wise.

couldn't agree with you more on that one. sounds fishy to me.

It's all just rumor, so who knows? I'm just trying to make a bit of sense of it, or some of it anyways.
    Good discussion though, sbs87!

Honestly much of this rings true to me (but what do I know). I'd definitely enjoy the movie described in the emails.

Feeling rather spoiled to the plot right now. Oh well, it was inevitable.

Han Solo will not die in this film. There are 2 Solo children. The character within the tomb will not be identified in this film.

All I'll say on this subject is ....... I'm yet to get past the first 10 minutes of a ' This is podcasting ' session on MKSW I've tried multiple times ! But I just find that panel cringe worthy beyond belief !

So when I read in this article Jason crowing about haveing a TFA script in hand very soon !

I tuned out ! Just like I do during the podcast .

I don't think he will die in this one either. I think too many people are just expecting it...even non-forum readers due to Fords views back in the OT time frame, i think it would be more shocking to keep him alive and have him go early in the second film. I prefer the rumor that pits Han in many death scenes only to come out alive, playing on all the individuals that think he will die.

As a filmmaker you usually don't have that at your disposal (it's not like JJ would kill Spock in star trek) but this way he can play on the rumors of Han dying and have him not actually die. That'd be brilliant.

I am not saying this will happen, nor would I even want it to happen, but It would be pretty hilarious if say near the end Han is in a life threatening situation his heart stops and you hear the beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sound, so the whole audience thinks this is it. Han is gone, Luke or Leia bring in the defibrillator and restart his heart. Han says to them, "what you thought I was gonna die, not me kid". It would be too silly for Star Wars, but I would laugh.

But to your post, I think that this is a very good opportunity to play on these fears of a main cast death.

    Well...

I must admit it does sound somewhat legit, but some of it might be wrong, or rather just doesn't make sense. So how is Rey suddenly fine with Luke after he kills Han a few minutes earlier, and helps him back to the Falcon. Meh, I'm not buying all of this. We'll have to wait and see. Next trailer will confirm or deny some of this.

As far as I am concerned, this just follows the same Spoilerman formula - weave together confirmed facts and spoilers from proven sources with a load of popular speculation and riffs on ideas that have already been suggested. But coincidentally omit anything which could be pinned down at the drop of a hat, such as being bold enough to provide a name for Von Sydow or Gleeson's characters.
As ever, it's what they conveniently omit that is telling, not what they "reveal"...

Again I always make the point that a leak doesn't look like a rehashing of ideas currently around, it serves to create something completely new that wasn't there previously.

Case in point when the Superweapon plotline dropped that was something new, there had been speculation of a super weapon but it wasn't a popular theory.

Does she though? According to the rumor only Finn helps Luke back to the falcon, nothing is said of Rey during or after this fight. Which I find confusing, the only other rumored saber fight in this film is with Finn and Kylo but nothing is mentioned here? Is this a removed scene or scene switched, I don't know. Also if Kylo is Rey's brother would she fight her brother lame? Would she not just run to the falcon if he is so laboured by his injuries?

Emails were complete garbage. There was nothing new in the emails. The grammar and spelling were rediculous.

I also have a weird feeling with the Crystal being the key. Just seems odd that a Jedi Crystal opens a Sith tomb. Unless the Jedi created the tomb as some kind of secure holding chamber, in which case it wouldn't or couldn't be Plagueis since the jedi has no knowledge of the Sith return. Unless the time line is Sheevster killing Plaugeis after they reveal themselves and perhaps Palp says "Oh man look, I found this dead guy." And the Jedi feels his power or soemthing and lock his body away. I mean, I always say they can write anything into the story and they can, but for me it'd have to be a great story as to why Ani/Luke's Crystal is the key specifically. I suppose they could go the way of "it killed Jedi" and such and since Sith Crystals are synthetic which would explain why none of theirs could open it but that feels way too magical IMO that somehow the Crystal retains the evil or whatever. Idk, im just spitballing here lol I haven't posted in awhile and this read intrigued me so just wondered what some of you guys thought the story would be as relating to the Crystal opening the tomb if it's infact true. Thanks folks. Nice to be back from a forum break...*wont do that again*
