I got a feeling that we're only going to see maybe three planets in this new movie. I think it's going to be almost a copy of A New Hope, where we only saw Tattooine, the Death Star, and a little bit of Yavin. Although episodes VIII and IX could introduce many more planets, some old and some new.

As Nijuni already said. Queens of Naboo are elected every 4 years. Padme was a queen for 8 years.

Padme was indeed the most popular and beloved Queen of Naboo ( in history of Naboo ). And people of Naboo wanted to change a law so that she can stay a Queen forever.
    But Padme refused.

Leia and Luke are not heirs to the throne of Naboo. But they are indeed the childrens of the most popular and loved Queen Amidala.
So people from Naboo would honor Luke and Leia because of that.

I wasn't aware of how Naboo Queens are elected, good to know. Where in the canon is this mentioned? In The Phantom Menace? An episode of Clone Wars?

"...Queen Amidala, recently elected ruler of Naboo..."
"I was not elected to watch my people suffer and die..."
"I wasn't the youngest Queen ever elected..."

I'm still appalled that Takodana looks exactly like Naboo but isn't, to be honest.

Cool, thx for the insight. I've seen the prequels a number of times but forgot those details. Apparently those characters (and Naboo's political system) didn't leave a lasting impression on me.

It will be interesting to see how much Luke and Leia have learned in the 30 years since ROTJ. Maybe they've had conversations with force ghosts of Yoda, Obi Wan, Anakin about the Old Republic and how everything went down with the Jedi order and Palpatine's rise. Maybe its already been explored in the old EU, but with the new canon, it would be cool for instance to see Luke and Leia visit Naboo to find out more about their family history. Like in the current comic with Luke on Coruscant wanting to know more about the Jedi. So many good stories waiting to be told during the times between ROTJ and TFA!

Considering the appearance of Naboo in Shattered Empire, and the Resistance troopers' uncanny resemblance to Naboo soldiers/pilots... could Naboo be the location of Leia's Resistance base in The Force Awakens?

I wouldn't mind Naboo back, perhaps a rep that talks with Leia and the other rebels or something.

Wasn't Naboo blown up by the Death Star along with Jar Jar?

That would be cool. In the new novels and comics it seems that Leia story is in fact connected with Naboo. And it seems that Naboo was important in creation of the New Republic.

Jakku=Jakku. Naboo=Naboo. Why can't some accept Jakku as a new planet? What is the allure of trying to make it a wasteland of an old planet just renamed? First Jakku=Tatooine. Now this.

The trailer can't come soon enough. We are in a dry spell and whenever that happens, imaginations begin to go wild. Next someone is going to state that Takodana is not a new planet but just Yavin in Ithorese.

I just found the final nail in the coffin of this theory. Shattered Empire takes place right after the Battle of Endor...
Lost Stars has Naboo being defended and secured a year after that (it was the third attempt to take Naboo by the Imperials). And... the Battle of Jakku is set up at the end of the same chapter (26). The defence on Naboo and the actual Battle of Jakku are only a few weeks apart if I'm reading correctly.
And there was already an established settlement of some kind on Jakku in the Aftermath interlude, which seems to take place before the battle (I am confused about that one, though. Why would anyone live there before the battle leaves wreckage to scavenge? But Wookieepedia does set the Interlude before the battle).

D-green - Why did you rate my comment about Jakku and Naboo both being in Aftermath as "Off Topic"? It was absolutely on topic...

Nope after his term as senator Jar Jar stayed on Coruscant for the rest of his life as for the death star it's first planet it destroyed was Despayre.
