Yes, he does do parkour, acrobatic stunts, and mo cap work. That's why I don't think it would make sense for him to be killed off early in the film. That's why I think this is all just speculation, just like anything we hear. After all, they had to of spent some time casting Pip and the girl who got cast with him, so it wouldn't make sense to spend all that time casting for his character to be killed off early.

 

Pip could play an actual character earlier in the movie then do mo cap for other characters???? Maybe he was hired on only to do mo cap and they thought, we like this kid, so they gave him a role, although a small one.

 

How do we know that storm troopers aren't total bad-ass commandos now?

This seems to be an rehash of the recent character rumors much discussed in other threads.

 

Rumors reporting on speculated rumors... MSW questioned the credibility of these themselves, I believe... not questioning MSW, just saying they themselves were not 100% on this intel, and cautioned about it in their article

There are rumors that the Alliance is building it's own Death Star... perhaps, finding the tomb of the one who must not return, they have decided to dust off and nuke from orbit... it's the only way to be sure

Some would say it is overkill... those who have seen this one would say that any length to keep his presence from returning to the galaxy is warranted

Now that you mention it... his habit of materializing in my kitchen rather than sending emails does seem a little... spooky...

It's interesting to follow the journey of a rumor... as one channel reports it as questionable... fan forums dissect it like moths to a flame... the rumor gathers steam... and before long other channels begin reporting the rumor... and the only thing that changes is how long the preface becomes...

"I heard (INSERT RUMOR) from a questionable source"

Fan Site B
"So (FAN SITE A) heard (INSERT RUMOR) from a questionable source"

Fan Site C
"So (FAN SITE A) and (FAN SITE B) heard (INSERT RUMOR) from a questionable source"

and so on and so on...

It seems no one wants to lose out on the potential clicks a "rumour of a rumour from a questionable source" may provide. But each time, the original site to post the rumor (Fan Site A in the above) is putting their neck out on the line. They can preface it and asterisk it to make it abundantly clear that the rumor may be complete bunk, but the more they post things which don't pan out, the less stock their readership is likely to put in any story they run.

It's a tricky little dance. Every site loves the traffic that comes from a juicy scoop... but none of them want to be held accountable for posting things that amount to uninformed speculation.

Where does one draw the line?
Sacrifice easy clicks for journalistic integrity?
Or run the stuff under the guise of
'well my readers deserve to know BOTH the latest confirmed AND unconfirmed rumors?'

Personally, I think the three or four leading SW fan sites (You know who you are... lolz) should form an Alliance and be part of a circle of trust if you will. Create a logo/badge for this network of affiliated sites, which can then help fans easily identify which sites are most reputable when it comes to Star Wars scoops. Each site would benefit from cross-pollinating their readerships and, hopefully, enjoy the majority of traffic generated from these rumors. Hell, once a month the sites should get together and post a joint podcast too. It would be great to hear the different POVs amongst the leading fan sites together in one epic session every month.

In closing, I'd rather give my clicks to the handful of SW dedicated fan sites whom I can trust than random Hollywood gossip mongerer of the month.

Gotta be careful, one site will post stuff and then by the time it gets to site 20 it’s a whole new rumor. Remember that game where you get to read a sentence, you whisper it into the ear of the next person, and it goes around a circle until the last person says it out loud?

ultimately i feel like that's all good for me and Disney. I enjoy reading rumors and speculation, but i still want to be surprised when the film comes out. I cant help myself lol. i see the spoiler tag and i automatically need to click on it. For Disney its free advertising... people are talking about the movie trying to share what they believe to be truth and in reality only a handful of people know the real plot. Sure leaks will come here and there but just like Apple that will happen to get people more excited about the film. as with anything i go by the phrase "trust but verify".

Especially cool to me is Domhnall playing the "son of a major character." Of course, I hope it means Luke!

Months ago I speculated that the plot of TFA could include rival groups gathering artefacts to raise a Sith Lord from the grave for different reasons. Now I'm wondering if the plot might be more 'THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY'?

If you've seen that film you'll know the gist is: there is a treasure buried in a grave and two characters are forced to work together because one of them knows the graveyard, and the other knows the name on the grave. I love this movie and would welcome a SW riff on that general principle: characters who don't trust each other having to work together because they hold their half of a solution secret from each other.

(If you haven't seen it, see it: it's brilliant!)

Anyway, what do you think? Could it go down like this: rivals having to find common ground to share their halves of an enigma?

It´s been said here many times - a desert planet looking just like Tatooine but hey, it´s a different planet. In E1 "it´s been ruled by the Hutts....the gangsters...." I´m just saying this seems the more logical cunclusion. Same when you hear that a virgin gave birth a messiah - seems more probable that she slept with someone to get pregnant rather than a holy spirit came inside her and made a miracle of course I don´t know the new Mickey plans for the franchise, anything is possible....and while we are speculating on this, I´d like to say that this is the same to me as december ante christmas time - I like the decoration and the feeling of the holiday time, those weeks just before Christmas Eve....same with Star Wars. I enjoyed a lot those 2 years of really slow modem internet, whe I had to wait munutes to see one picture of the Mos Espa sets, or a yard of Naboo, discovering new names and places.....great times......and now we have it back. To me, the best part is the waiting, the discovering, those months and years before the opening night......I love to discuss, to speculate, to argue, sometimes I love the news, sometimes I hate it, always I worry about the result product.....but always happy and counting days.....

MSW says that the source that told him all of this has been right about a lot of things before but still take it with a grain of salt!

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW!



The implication is that basically Rey and Luke go into hiding at exactly the same time for the same reason. She is the daughter of Han and Leia and she’s tasked with protecting a lightsaber that can open a proverbial Pandora’s Box of evil. Artifacts being sought after by Kylo Ren are collected because they’re trying to figure out which artifact will open the tomb. Luke Skywalker is guarding the tomb and being tormented by evil spirits that appears half crazed from the duty he’s been on.

Domhnall Gleeson was a rebel for many years and he’s the son of “a huge character.” But he defected to the Empire when he learned that the Rebels had constructed a super weapon in secret. With less than honorable people in the Rebel Alliance now, Gleeson’s character is tasked with hunting Finn while also on a secret mission to destroy both super weapons of the Empire and the Rebels.

Gwendoline Christie is his lead shock trooper. She’s a chrome trooper with black and red cape that is hunting Finn. She uses a lightsaber, is arrogant, demeaning, and kills indiscriminately. Her face is heavily scarred and she has a military haircut. Yes, the ability to cloak herself did come up and it supposedly is used twice in the movie.

Here is some elaboration:

• Luke is in hiding during much of The Force Awakens. He has put himself in a self imposed exile and is protecting an ancient Sith tomb from being opened by the main bad guy, Kylo Ren.

He goes on to say that inside that tomb is the body of an ancient evil being. Luke Skywalker doesn’t know how to open this tomb buy Kylo does. Luke’s stay in this place has had him tormented by evil spirits of the past.

• It is true that a simple lightsaber leads the trio to Han but what isn’t mentioned is that Han is extremely reluctant to allow his daughter to be part of this plan.

This source believes Rey is Han Solo’s daughter. Over the course of the film we learn she is in love with Poe and Han Solo does not approve.

• There is a scene which shows Finn trying to shoot a blaster and he is awful – it’s a little in-joke about how inept Stormtroopers were in the Original Trilogy.

They say that Finn’s family was murdered by The Empire and he was forced into recruitment along with his best friend. His best friend is killed in the opening sequence of the film in front of Finn. This role is rumored to be played by Pip Andersen. It is shortly after this scene that he meets his likely next best friend for life, Poe.

• Finn and Poe end up in an imperial brig after being caught.

Finn instantly dislikes Poe. But being in the brig they concoct a plan to steal a TIE Fighter. Meanwhile Rey fast-talks a guard and steals his keycard to break them out.

• Finn and company steal an advanced TIE and unfortunately it crashes, injuring Finn.

This bit is confusing to me and doesn’t necessarily line up with how I thought things unfolded. None the less, Finn being injured in a TIE crash does line up with how he ends up in the Wagon Speeder, and the source does mention that stuff too.

• There is a scene in the bar where Finn uses a lightsaber to deflect laser blasts at him and Rey says she thinks Finn has found his calling.

They also note that Finn is a total pacifist. He doesn’t fight those that killed his family but this is the pathway to Finn being able to defend the people he loves.

• Max von Sydow: A former Rebel Alliance veteran now dealing in antiquities – very much like a SW version of Brody from Indiana Jones. It turns out that Rey has a lightsaber which holds information vital to the rebellion and this is hidden inside BB-8.

The old guy reveals to Rey that the crystal in the lightsaber they are holding has the ability to open the tomb Luke is guarding. If accurate, this could explain why the lightsaber is so important and why our heroes only have one while on the sand planet in the depictions I’ve seen.

• Rey’s last name: Her real name is revealed through Han Solo much to the surprise of Finn and Poe.

I’m not exactly sure why Finn would be surprised she’s a Solo unless Solo is famous or something. They say she is reluctant to become a Jedi. Rey was put into hiding with the lightsaber crystal and forced to used a fake fake name to hide her association to her father and especially to Luke Skywalker. She is also angered to find out that her friend played by Max von Sydow was in on the ruse and was her watcher for all this time.
