SPOILER New Plot and Character Rumors!

SO I have yet to see any comments on the new main page article... I'm not sure I trust this source. The idea that Rey is not her name seems dumb now. Do we really think JJ would pull another Khan moment? I just don't see it. Some of the other info could work but sounds more like speculation than anything else. @Echo-07 What other info that has been proven correct did you get from this source?

Yeah, I expected more backlash on the forums from the new post. Its interesting stuff for sure. The crazy thing is the sheer amount of info we are getting on the opening scene/s of the movie. I like that we are introduced to new characters quickly and see some turmoil pretty fast.
What’s worrisome to me is this:
We have heard a lot of info on Xwings, Tattooine, and the new 3, but little on how they plan to handle the mystique part of the story involving Jedi and Sith. Im watching it one way or another, but im starting to fear its leaning more toward war and tech than the hokey old religion…but the movie IS titled as though it’s a big part, so im optimistic.

 

The openings I've read about so far including the new one are pretty good and action packed.

In the shooting script, Luke is introduced earlier in the story. It jumps back and forth between the Droids and Leia/Vader at the beginning with Luke on Tatooine.

In the film, he doesn't show up until like 16 minutes in.

 

I got goosebumps when he described Poe and BB-8 on the mountain looking down on the city being destroyed by stormtroopers.

 

Not a whole lot of surprises here, except BB-8's original owner and Rey's name, maybe. Can we assume the source is pretty solid? I thought the whole name thing was pretty concrete though?

Obviously, I expected her to be a Solo, and I expect Han to go buh bye.The other stuff has been speculated on over the last few months. The only thing I found interesting was:

"The three team up and Finn loves the light saber she has and he confides in her his wishes to defect and Poe convinces her his is a good guy."

I don't know if there is anything to it, but the way it is worded makes it seem that Finn strongly vocalizes defecting only after seeing the saber. Is he working as a double agent/bounty hunter for someone as an additional plot twist?

 

With the whole “Rey” name change thing, im beginning to question the other names, as others have. Hmm…interesting. I wonder if the original trading card releases were a test, as per what Gabriel Gray posted last night in his rant on the Gabriel Gray thread. Maybe they released these cards, with names that weren’t real, and maybe some were, to gauge interest in each character. For instance, some time passes and they google the names to see who has the most hits, what they are saying about them, who people want to see…just for future marketing purposes. I don’t know how smart of an idea it would be for them to just be like “Sike!!!” in a few months when talking about character names, but its worth discussing.

Apparentley, Kira, I mean Rey, I mean what's her name is someone's daughter because they are seriously going all out to keep her secret.

I still hope she is Luke's daughter. Everyone is assuming a Solo.

 

I wouldn't put it past Poe to use the ole peanut butter trick.

Stormtroopers with flamethrowers sounds absolutely wicked!

I'm thinking back to the charred skeletons of Owen and Beru, and how that one visual set in my
then 8 year old mind the idea that the Empire and Vader are just totally frakking evil.

 

As I mentioned in the main thread, one reason I'm skeptical is because there is no indication Isaac was in Abu Dhabi.

 

Isaac said he didn't start filming until the rest of them returned to Pinewood after Abu Dhabi.

Since I'm leaning in the direction of the names in this article from this source person being mixed up, the question instead moves to: why are the names mixed up?

Some kind of carnival/fairground ride. Like Waltzers, I guess. Does this mean the Xwing will spiral and spin out of the sky? A dramatic crash landing?

I'm not entirely sold on the new report, tbh. It makes the first act sound over-crowded and heavily-laden with OT homages, imho....

 

During the production BB-8 is always referred to as "Sally's Droid."

I dropped the code names and their meanings last week (the others are easy to make up but don't add up with my stuff on a few and none I haven't had a chance to write about yet show up in this report):

I don't have anything to add on the name change stuff. With so many code names out there, I'm hesitant about anything involving name changes.

I've never seen anything to make me believe BB-8 is owned by Poe. In fact, even in the early phases of the design which were radically different, it was always referred to as "Sally's Droid" or "Snow Girl's Pal" and that continued onward to Pinewood. There is never a moment where the two are reunited in the concept art and I will check the shooting schedule next week and confirm or deny this bit.

I'm not calling BS on this stuff. But there isn't anything in the report yet that stands out or tells me its real and accurate. Is there a chance at the last minute they made BB-8 Poe's droid and they get separated? Totally. But there is no indication of that and there's some work done for the brig indicating it's on the sand planet.

I'm not convinced report based on this information as it is presented. But the gang at Star Wars 7 News have reason to believe this source, I assume there's something they've seen they're being quiet about.

 

If her name ends up being Kira Rey there's no way Kylo Ren isnt Her brother like we have been speculating. That would just be weird if he wasn't and their names were like that.
