SPOILER New "Report" About Han or Chewie

If either of those two dies my money would have to be on Han purely for the fact that as much as it wouldn't be the same, you can always get someone else to play Chewie and a Wookiee lifespan means they can use him going forward as long as they need to. I was almost certain from the get go that Ford would be leaving after this film, also explains why so much emphasis seems to be placed on his character but after seeing how genuinely happy he was at SDCC I don't really know what to think anymore!

 

Due to Peter Mayhew's knee problems and other health issues, he can no longer act for longer periods. Maybe instead of having another actor play Chewbacca, Disney and Lucas Film have decided to retire the character.

 

I hope they don't pull a Vector Prime. I will be so disappointed.

 

It would be a little heartbreaking to see one of them having to live without the other! I vote for both of them crashing the falcon into the First Order super weapon with Blaze Of Glory by Bon Jovi blasting out of the cockpit speakers

 

I'v been thinking for a while now that it might be chewie and not Han that bites it.
Ford seems to have a renewed vigour with the franchise ,he comes across as being genuinely wanting to be a part of it all.
Also didn't KK say he would be returning for ep8? I'm sure she let that slip somewhere.
If you watch that scene closely from comiccon,where Han is following Rey into the falcon's cockpit you can see his expression ,its like he's in shock.
Its been along time since I read any EU but i do remember something about chewie sacrificing himself to save Han's kids?
Could be way off ,I really don't want to see either character die

 

My money would be on Han, primarily for the reasons @Endrance put forth. The "Han dies" rumor has floated around for a few months too I believe... though some believed that about the plot prior to the rumor coming out, so it could be that we're just shaping it to what we want to believe.

 

No way they're going to kill off Chewie, he'll probably end up in the most movies out of all the characters. I can totally picture him still in the Falcon in episode X

 

Someone did (not-so-seriously) make a thread pondering if Chewie's son Lumpawaroo from the special would make an appearance, and brief speculation went to "well if Chewie dies then you just bring him in."

Incredibly unlikely in the ST, but maybe for an XT... so... food for thought I guess?

 

I think it's obvious that Han Solo dies for reasons everyone has debated before. It is interesting that there are 2 Wookies that aren't Chewbacca though.

 

Maybe they both die?

I say that in jest, but I bet you it would make us all bawl our eyes out regardless of how cheesy it'd be.

 

I think Chewie's death would have more of an impact, as everone is expecting Han to go.

But, we might end up with a mega twist where at the end of film, only R2 and Luke are left of the legacy crew.

 

If you go with MSW's movie ending outline, it seems to align with the footage of Chewie and Rey in the Falcon's cockpit from the BTS video. Buh bye Han......

 

NOOOOOOO, NOT CHEWIE!! If it's Han, I think I'll survive because it's what Ford wanted since Empire, but if it's Chewie...I just don't know.

 

Han dying isn't news. And I don't get the impression this guy actually thought chewie died. He was just answering a loaded question.

I have stated that Han solo is going to die in the force awakens ever since Harrison Ford's casting.

Evidence.

1.The delay in casting.

2.He wanted Han Solo to die ever since Empires.


3.Script. Mentor leaves/dies. In every movie script there is a part where the hero meets the mentor or elder person. And they always either die or leave and find they're way back to the group.

4.Behind the reel scenes we see a section where Rey is sad and Mathew is getting his Chewie head taken off. This part of the movie the Hero's mentor/elder dies pushes the hero forward. In ANH when Obi-wan dies it pushes Luke forward. Hell even Chewie is looking sad, hint that Han Solo is indeed DEAD!


5.JJ most likely putting in the NOOO factor after Han dies Kylo Ren finds out he just killed his father. Homage to Luke almost killing his father.
