Just a thought,if someone legitimate leaked audio I would have thought that would be easy to track.wouldn't everything be mixed and mastered at Skywalker ranch? But even if it wasn't,there would only be a handful of people involved.i cant believe people would risk their whole career just to get something on the internet,its crazy stupid,which makes me think its a tea boy or someone working on equipment after hours.sorry its off topic,but it interest's me,the leaks from set kinda make sense cos there's so many people involved,but audio is different.I wonder if anyone got fired over it.
It makes me wonder how closely their watching all of the leaks whether true or not,a billion plus investment?

FWIW, I'm in the camp that believes Han dies. (Though chewie could be swapped in easily for Han on any of the story leaks, so I'm admittedly not 100%)

The redemption story we know (Vader) is redemption but not necessarily forgiveness. Vader committed outright atrocities, but realizes one person in the world (connected to the one he loved/turned evil to save) still believed in him down to the very end. He realizes he can't let the very concept of Luke die, and just chooses to end-the-madness. Killing the emperor and saving Luke doesn't make up for the all the bad things, but is a return to sanity and in a way a nod to what he wished he had done for Padme.

We don't really know Kylo's motivations yet. If it's Star Wars there's likely a mirror to kylo weaved into the story.

My guess is

1. Kylo wants to be Darth Vader, but doesn't know the true story that Luke knows. (See aftermath novel summary)
2. He does some terrible things to emulate Vader, then
3. has some encounter with Luke in VIII that mirrors the "they never told you what happened..." From ESB.. "Vader killed the emperor, I saved him. " Kylo freaks out, doesn't believe him. "That's not true, Vader was a bad boy."
4. Next film, Kylo is put into a situation to bring balance again, and saves Luke / Kira from who ever is" Big Bad", intervenes and saves someone critical to the story with a last moment rejection of the dark side (possibly dies similar to Vader...)
5. Kylo gets his wish to be like Vader, but not in the way he expected.

Han dying will suck, but Star wars is partially also a tragedy, and will help make sense of it in the end.

 

An interesting parallel... and it would certainly make a good plot were they to go that way...

I hadn't considered Kylo would be impersonating Luke... With the bootleg, poorly assembled red cross guard light saber, and Revan-esque mask... What's your angle? (Sounds fascinating)

 

I am also leaning this way with a couple of "rumors" heard. I wonder if Kylo was not very young when Luke's camp was attacked and taken as an infant. He perhaps has no real memory of what happened or even who he was prior to the event. He might really think he's Luke and searches for Vader's things in search of himself. More likely Kylo is saying he's Luke to commit atrocities in Luke's name and hurt his hero status and force him out of hiding. This is one of the reasons I think Han lives. There is one tried and true method in Star Wars lore to get Luke to come to you, kidnap his friends. Luke will spring that trap every time and thus far always has. it is one of the reasons we like him.

 

What if... Kylo and Rey are Luke's kids, they were taken when young and Luke isn't in seclusion... he is insane, scouring the galaxy for his children, literally looking under rocks... absolutely bonkers... until Rey finds him, and his sanity is restored...

 

I don' think his urge to be a dad to them would make go on an insane mission to find them

 

If Kylo and Rey were Luke's kids, which is a possibility, it would not be being a father that might have led him to go bonkers, but the death of his significant other during the aforementioned attack.

he does not have to go bonkers, simply has to realize that since there are people who want him dead, his kids are safer away from him than they are with him.

In the case of Kylo I think it just as likely that whoever his father is presumed him dead and he was raised to be a Sith. They could do the whole fallen to the dark side theme, but that's an awful lot of backstory that might be more interesting than the film.
