Your statement isn't "life miserable enough" may show you have a few more issues bothering you than Han's potential death right now. Makes me sad you can't rejoice that we are getting a new movie that we only dreamt would one day happen. Instead of looking at it ruining your childhood, look at this new movie participating in the new generation's childhood and giving respect to yours. All the original characters are near seventy and Han is a little over seventy. These characters eventually need to die and if they can do it the right way it's a perfect "emotional rounding" as Ford would say. Don't worry either, because there's a lot of hope that if Han goes, there is still a solo kin to follow him and hopefully he or she has a little bit of the Solo gene.

No way will Chewie die, he's one of the core merchandising hooks of the SW franchise along with the droids, and like both of them and BB-8 he is VERY Disney and able to appear at theme parks etc.

If Han does die, it would be very fitting to have Chewie become a sidekick for his daughter - there may even be confirmation of the "life debt" backstory. I'd wager that the Han Solo standalone film will build on the character of Chewbacca by showing how he got together with Han.

Because art reflects life. There's got to be a message in there somewhere; we've got to see people deal with highs and lows. There's got to be some pathos. A moral to the story. A journey.
Then we learn something and feel better about ourselves.
That's entirely the point. If they make you feel really bad in the moment Solo dies, then you will feel all the better when that death is avenged or atoned for.
Otherwise it just becomes "the boring saga of immortals where nothing is ever at stake and nobody feels or learns anything"...

The ending of ROTJ is intact. I just checked. I'll go back and check again in December, but I have a feeling the release of TFA won't change the end of ROTJ...

 

Forget Han Solo, I'm more worried about Harrison Ford. The man ALMOST lost his life in a plane crash.

 

Yep he has quite a near death experience of a year, I doubt his wife Calista Flockhart can take much more.

You can surely add weight to storyline in otherway's.
If I was going into this movie with no rumours attached I would have never even considered any of this as a possibility,Han especially,but now I'm not so sure.
I love it,I'm going to be blown away in that theatre no matter what happens.if JJ goes down this path I hope to the force ghosts that the following directors step up and put their Hollywood ego's aside and realise what they are working on .

What I think is interesting is that the way they break down Act III in this newest post makes no mention of Leia/Wookiee scene described in the other report, which makes me really start to believe that multiple endings were shot. And since that's not without precedence in the industry, I have a feeling there's still some surprises in store for Dec. 18.

 

Oh man. That's gonna be tough to watch. Incredible, but tough.
