Okay, I have short black hair. Haha!

 

Haha at the moment so do I, but mine is likely shorter than yours. When it's long enough I will do that Kylo cosplay I mentioned.

i get that people have different standards of beauty, but even though i agree he's not conventionally "gorgeous", there is nothing wrong with this face.



and frankly, i'd choose it over any so-called "good-looking" hollywood guy any day.

 

Same here. He's beautiful because what is inside is brought out, making him beautiful in a way that's not the Hollywood version of "good looking" and women like that.

sorry, i couldn't just let an attack go. i don't even think of him that way, but maybe if more people wised up that most women are only superficially interested in men's physical looks, we'd have less heartbreak in the world on all sides.

Star Wars casted Kylo Ren brilliantly; they took an unconventional actor with a beaming female fanbase and dropped him into a controversial role.
people identify with/hate him because he's a complete iconoclast (true of both Ren and Driver).
and that's a pretty crazy spot-on emotional maneuver calculated to make us as an audience feel his conflict (and feel for him in it--and even question those feelings one way or the other).

imagine any other traditionally "good-looking" actor in this role (even great ones).
it would have been a completely difference experience.

i love Eddie Redmayne, but that would have never worked.
also, i still don't believe he ever actually auditioned for Ren.
i know he said he did, but i still think (yes, put your tinfoil hats on, people!) that he auditioned for Hux, but for some bizarre reason they are covering up the necessity of Hux being ginger-haired and blue-eyed ~ hahahaha

@RockyRoadHux and i have been around and around with this one.
it makes no sense that he auditioned for Ren.
weirder still, Driver didn't audition for the part. he met with JJ who had to convince him to take the role (there may have been actual begging and Driver initially said no). even so, he gave an answer pretty quick, so why would they even call other people in?
also, Redmayne said his audition was terrible and that everybody there knew he wasn't right for it.
further, Gleeson said they basically cast him on the spot at his own audition and that the read-through was the very next day.

someone here is not telling the truth ~ hahahaha

 

We don't know whom Eddie Redmayne would have played. He only assumed that his casting was for the role of Kylo Ren. @RockyRoadHux made me aware of the possibility that Redmayne could have been casted as Hux.

Either way, it would have been terrible. Haha!

 

Well when you look at him, do you see Harrison or Carrie? I don't. I get more of a Hux vibe from him, but maybe there was a mix up or something? I know that's happened before.

@NinjaRen I think neither would have worked haha but that audition alone would have been worth seeing.

right ~ the only role that makes sense is Hux: he and Gleeson have the same physique, the same coloring, etc.
Gleeson is taller and definitely scarier-looking. it's hard to take Redmayne seriously as a military bad guy, whereas Gleeson pulls it off easily.

that's why i say there's something about Hux that required he look the way he does.

Ren Ben was obviously going to need to be dark-haired/dark-eyed and built like a powerhouse.

 

Maybe he didn't know of any other villains but Kylo, so when he was told to read for a villain, he went all DV!

 

possibly! he could just be working off the assumption that it was Ren when it never was.

 

That makes the most sense to me, and also why he would not get the role if they were looking for someone like Gleeson.

 

i can see the pride and prejudice thing being about playing it snobby. Hux is completely stuffy, just like a Jane Austen character ~ hahahaha
i can't imagine in any universe them wanting to play Ben Solo as that kind of brat. snarky, yes, but never that refined--look at his father!
