I'm thinking Finn's struggle is that he was a part of the First Order and has a crisis of conscience and switches over to the good guys upon the discovery of his force powers? That said, I have no problem with Finn being a jedi (Lucas even said anyone could learn the ways of the force at one point, and that some were just more gifted than others at it and that it was like learning karate...hoping they keep to that in the new film).....but Finn being a Skywalker makes no sense because neither Luke or Leia are black, and even if they did get with a very black partner, their kid would still be mixed looking: Leia is white with brown hair and Luke is white with blonde hair and blue eyes....there is no way either of them are producing a child that looks like Finn. It has nothing to do with whether or not I'm "racist" (it's a shame I even have to point that out), but everything to do with common sense. Finn being a jedi is fine, but Finn being a Skywalker is moronic, and will just further illustrate how out of touch the filmmakers are if true.

 

Yeah I'd have to agree. I don't think Finn will be a Skywalker at all. The only logical way to make him one is by adoption and I doubt they will go down that route. He will be that new and fresh character for the ST. He might have a role that parallels with a Skywalker role, but no Skywalker. If they make him a Skywalker there would be too much explaining. He will be a new character that becomes a Jedi and will fight alongside Rey thought the ST.

 

Agree. And that fresh aspect of his character is what's going to him the best character in TFA IMO.

I too would rather see him as a new character(not related to any character).

Now THAT is something amazing.If your theory would be true,this would be a great way to show his ''bond" with Anakin.

 

But Luke stays single because he is part of a love triangle, and you know one of the males has to lose (in a manner of speaking). And yeah, Leia isn't his girlfriend, but up until the point he learns about their family connection, the interactions between the two of them suggest a possible romance. The true asexual main character of Star Wars is Obi-Wan, and again it's only if you don't count The Clone Wars (where he has history with Sabine).

It's possible the new female character who will be introduced in Episode 8 will serve as a romantic interest for one of our male heroes. But I think it's much more interesting to build a relationship on three movies, rather than on one movie with a new character we barely know.

I would say the main problem is that Rey being the only female character in the main trio, we all expect her to be what we all like to see in a heroin. Wanting for her to have a romance is okay, wanting for her to stay single is also okay, but as long as she is the only female of importance in the movie (I dont count secondary characters like Maz Kanata or Phasma), we all wish our expectations for a female character to come true.

I'm sure that's the reason the writers will introduce a new main female in Episode 8. If they envisage Rey to have a romance, the other girl will stay single ; and if Rey is truly asexual, so the new girl will fall in love.

Seeing the current direction of Disney and especially KK regarding Star Wars, the female lead that will be casted in episode 8 might aswell be the romance of Rey and then Finn and Poe get into a romance too

 

The fact we are speculating with such a far out theory is amazing. We really know nothing about this film! I like the idea of Finn remembering the horrors Anakin/Darth Vader committed. Another cool parallel is Kylo Ren, who is probably related to Vader. Kylo thinks He is the reincarnation of some kind when in fact Finn is the reincarnation. It's probably bogus but you've got one hell of a creative noggin lol

 

I wouldnt be surprised. Daisy and John have be hanging out a lot off camera since filming. It's not uncommon for actors to spend time together off screen to build chemistry for an on screen romance.

Will Poe and Finn share a bromance in this film/trilogy?

We have seen Anakin and Obi-wan share one in the prequels.

Han and Chewy (Luke and Yoda to a lesser extent) share one in the originals.

Now will Poe and Finn form a bromance to bridge all trilogies together?!

I think they will. I think they will hate each other at first, Poe is arrogant and refuses to ask for help, thinks Finn is a liability and doesn't take him seriously. Poe gets in over his head and Finn comes to the rescue, a friendship blossoms. Who knows. I think there is definitely going to be some conflict between them.

 

I think they will after off course when Poe is rescued, saving a life is a important way of moving a friendship forward, sure Han did that when he saved Luke on the death star run, they were like brothers after that.

 

Please Poe fall in love with Phasma.

 

Yes, absolutely! John and Oscar seem to have a very Obi-wan/Anakin-esque chemistry (the joke about getting John SW underwear in the Celebration interview cracked me up), and I'm sure it'll make for some great banter.

 

I am all about a Finn/Poe bromance! I've always thought they'd be really close after the first film (if the spoilers of Finn's toy dialog were to be believed). I can totally see a dynamic where Poe is (perhaps a little cocky and eager to prove himself) and Finn is a little more disciplined/uptight (seeing as he is a trained soldier).

But now that I've read some other posts, I'm really excited about their potential dynamic.

I think Poe will be the one that sticks up for Finn when the resistance distrusts the former storm trooper (at first).

 

Yeah I'm really liking their dynamic, can't wait to see how it plays out & develops over the course of the trilogy!
