Yeah from my perspective the only thing this movie is building up to is giving reasons as to why ANH happens .

 

Well said. Rogue One is really only meant to set up for Ep4.

 

Agreed the TNH title was a good choice for a title given what will happen days, hours, before.

And what about Han and/or Chewie cameoing in Rogue One?

 

Exactly, plus there's the added issue of this movie taking place immediately prior to ANH. Last I heard, the new actor was playing a "young" Han Solo. It would be odd to have an appearance by a different actor who isn't the spitting image of Harrison Ford appear in the film when they are trying to make it feel connected to ANH.

The filmmakers say he's the reliable, stable one who counters her loose-cannon tendencies, sort of Murtaugh to her Riggs. (There's probably a fandom out there who 'ship the two Lethal Weapon characters, too.) No doubt Jyn and Cassian form a trust and a friendship, but does that always have to mean romance? Is there perhaps value in showing a man and woman whose partnership is strictly platonic, an example of two soldiers who share a deep affection for each other, but not necessarily in that way? It sounds like it's going to be like a buddy movie/opposites attract just like "Toy Story ."

I believe Jyn will not encounter Han, Luke, Chewie... It's a biiiiig universe. And we don't know if Jyn will survive.

 

I doubt they would kill her off in the first movie, she has so much trouble to cause the empire, this is just the first steps of a character's redemption.

 

The ONLY movie. IF she does survive they can continue her story in a novel or comic.

 

If she is a 'Joan of Arc' character , I can't see her lasting too long

 

I wonder if after Rogue One, Felicity will headline more action films.

 

Any interaction between Jyn Erso and Han Solo would be an offhand reference to "some cocky smuggler who claimed he could do it"

 

Off course, this appearance will give her a role boast.

 

Seeing as she's presented as an undisciplined, aggressive and generally someone serving her own interests, I took that the "Joan of Arc" comment was her character development, becoming a leader of a group of men, an inspiration to fight and serving a higher idea/goal, not her death.

And her suppsed death, honestly, they wouldn't reveal it in such a way. The appeal of and motivation to go and see Rogue One is not whether they get the plans; they do, we know this. It's whether anyone from the team survives that will constitute the "spoilers" of this movie.
