SPECULATION Official Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) Discussion

Maybe she just works for whoever will pay. If you add in the theory about Daddy doing work on the Death Star and wanting to undo it, it wouldn't be a massive leap that she could work for the rebels one month and Vader the next - bounty hunters have been mentioned with regard to Rogue One. Also, would tie in with the idea of Rogue One being more about grey areas than clear cut black and white, good v evil.

More a hopeful theory than anything as I think Aphra is an amazing character.

 

I really don't like that approach, think is unfair for the spectator to wait forever to conclude a story, but i know it's the way the big budget movies go nowadays, it's pure studio exploration and i just don't find the all situation fair for the people who watches the movies.

With this continuity thingy the studios grant the audience will attend at least 5-6 movies to see a story, not to mention that is nearly impossible to just see one movie and understand that single movie. The hardest thing is that all of this takes forever, it will take 5 years to tell the new Star Wars big story, is way to much time for the audience. I prefer to watch a 4 Hour movie at once than a couple of 2 hour movies separated by at least a year.

Star Wars changed the way movies were made, mainly spliting the story over several movies, and of course milking the huge cow of toys and merchandising but thats an whole new story. Just like comics, i hate the mensal issues that keep me waiting for the next event on my story, i prefer to buy the TPB and read the whole story at once.

Great movies like "Gladiator", "Blade Runner" and "Fight Club" work so well as a single movie why not Star Wars movies working as singles, the repeating and evolution of some elements and characters make the saga continuity but make a movie start-develop-end a story in a single movie like "A New Hope".

Actually this going big over movie time might be a good anti-piracy move, it's incredibely hard to internet pirate a 4-5 hour movie doe to his sheer size.

In the old days there were three years between each installment. What is it with modern society and instant gratification? The suspense is half of the fun. The stand alone movies will be self contained, what is the point in a trilogy if you don't spread the story out over time?

 

Then we end up with things like "Matrix II-III" and "The Hobbit", movies over extended and split in halfs to get a few more dolars.

Ultimately this is a question to each one decide, i don't like the waiting, i hate the waiting, then i get mixed fellings about movies i could like and get my daughter saying that i over antecipate the movie and then nothing will fullfill my expectations, ending up with me disliking a movie i should normally enjoy (it happen to me with the SW Prequels and a little bit with TFA despite i tried my best to pull my super expectations over board).

 

Whoa. I had not considered this, and it makes so much sense. I don't really know enough about Aphra to know whether the theory concerning her being the character that Felicity Jones is playing could hold up. If it turns out to be the case, that would add some intriguing depth to the character. His wife flipping and becoming a nemesis of sorts would certainly tear Luke up. In a way the character would be the reverse of Mara Jade. That said, I think it's far more likely that Felicity jones is playing a new character we haven't seen. If she make it out at the end of the movie there is definitely room to set up a romance between her and Luke.

I strongly suspect she won't be linked to Luke in any way, but it's still an interesting theory that does hold some water. It would be contingent on at least one of them getting out alive and I have a strong suspicion that everyone is going to die at the end of this.

 

my hope as well. My guess also. They need to provide some onscreen backstory for Rey's mother. My guess is that Felicity Jones and Luke had Rey. Luke continued training the Jedi. Jones raised the child herself. She either dies, the child is taken from her, or she or Luke hide her from Snoke. And by the way Daisy Ridley did say that she looks up to felicity jones. :O

She seems to be older than Luke Skywalker during this time period so I will have to disagree...soweyyy .

 

Rey also looks like Padneeé EXACTLY and has a passing resemblance to Leia and has the same facial expressions as Luke Skywalker ...

What about her hair though? We've seen a cast photo and her looks mighty differ from Aurra Sings

i still think the plot is some what around bounty hunters along what we know the death star plans.

 

While anything is possible, I would say it is not very likely

If her code name as reported here is correct ... I mean, you guys know what color jades are, right?
Just sayin', there's no reason why she wouldn't be retconned as a bounty hunter instead of an emperor's hand for the new canon....

 

I don't really want to see it personally. Now I would LOVE to see Mara Jade re-canonized, but I don't like the idea f trying to crowbar in "connections" just for the sake of them. If they make sense in-context, then fine. For example:

-Darth Vader maybe being in the film, makes sense.
-Some of the team maybe knowing Leia, or at least having crossed paths with her before, ok.
-Some cameos, like say Bail Organa, possibly.

But the idea of "oh it turns out that Felicity Jones is Luke's wife, or even Mara Jade, or Rey's mom," etc, no. It feels like doing a "connection" just for it's own sake, and it's not necessary. I like the idea of these anthologies being mostly standalone, it expands the universe. This idea, shrinks it.

Plus nothing about Felicity Jones's character's look or seeming backstory even remotely screams "Mara Jade" to me.

 

I am getting caught up on the Darth Vader comics and I got introduced to an interesting character, Doctor Aphra. I thought, "Dang, she looks like Felicity Jones." And I think that is who she is playing. The timeframe is right for her age. And I think Alan Tundyk is playing one of those droids who follow her around. As for her being allied with Vader in the comics, she was playing both sides at the start. I think she is more of a mercenary to than a rebel.
