p.s. if Han wasn't originally showing up, who was the second medal for?

 

Chewie. According to that story, when the three of them were told about the ceremony, Luke immediately accepted but Han refused. The Princess went to talk to him to the MF to convince him, but he still refused. Chewie said he would go anyway to the ceremony so that's why they only had two medals - one for Luke and one for Chewie. Since Han decided to attend at the last minute, Chewie said they could give his medal to Han.

 

oh, i get it now. hahaha
it's silly (people typically make medals for people who don't show up anyway), but sure, we'll go with that. Chewie is just a humble wookiee!
all the more reason he needs a medal.
though i guess now he can have Han's.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I must had Sky something on my mind when I wrote that and merged it with Star Wars. See I almost did it just there, I almost typed Sky Wars...lol.

 

I'm almost positive Luke made both moves in Jedi. Great eye to catch these two though.

This is JJ doing a good job with a subtle echo of a previous chapter.

Or it was the fight choreographer.


I kind of have to believe JJ picked it out to repeat. And that's how a SW repeat is suppose to work.

 

In the Droid Tales lego series, Chewie's breaks and C3PO brushes it away and hides it.

Rey and Kylo Ren poked into each others heads and then she could do some stuff she didn't do before. I still think that is what happened. She wasn't using The Force really prior to that. When she and Leia hugged, it could have been some sense of that, but my inner self was all like "I just kicked your kid's butt and scarred his face, while Chewie bowcastered his kidney."

 

I'll be a little bit frivolous for once. Just wondering, would Rey in Episode VIII get to wear white?

 

hahaha ~ now i can't get the image out of my head: Kylo Ren's going to be pissing blood for weeks. (why is that even funny to me?)

i took that moment as Rey and Leia commiserating over Han more than anything else.

oooh, she was already moved on to grey at the end of TFA. i wonder now if she will make it back to white.

 

No, but Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.

 

I'm ready to hear them combine the two themes for Episode IX.

 

Once again a very strong light / dark symbolic in Rey's vision.

After witnessing the slaughter of the Knights of Ren in a very dark scene, it switches to a light scene in the desert with young Rey with Plutt. The difference dark / light is very pronounced.

And I'm wondering if the scene just a symbol of her path and not facts stricto senso.

Her power are as big as the light is and they are silented by her activty with Plutt ( she can't move by herself ).
The ship is her path, brilliant light but it fades to dark.
She's not witnessing her family go, she's witnessing the path her future.

The ship going representing her moving from Jakku.

 

That's exactly the island and ocean I'm referring to.

So midway through the movie, the villain reads the heroine's mind and sees an island in an ocean, a recurring dream that disturbs her sleep. Then in the last scene of the movie, the heroine arrives on an island and meets Luke Skywalker. But you don't think there is an obvious connection between these two plot points?

 

No, I don't necessarily feel the need to invoke a connection when we don't know enough about Rey, her history, her final future as it pertains to this story and this dream. Could it have been the Force simply providing a vision in her sleep about the future where she meets Luke on that island? Possibly. However, this wouldn't necessarily connect them biologically, just through the Force.

It may seem obvious that this is what Kylo saw, but again, we don't know. It was inside Rey's head and Kylo only gave us a verbal description of the island and it was pretty vague. How many planets are in the galaxy with islands and oceans? How many of them could Rey potentially have had access to in her past as a child and it left some residual memories of that landmark in her subconscious mind or for sake of argument about it being a Force Vision, how many of them may Rey come into contact with in the future besides the island Luke is currently residing on and she ends up on at the end, or I would say start, of her current adventure.

Which brings me to another issue here. To suddenly assume the dream was the island on Ahch-To she ends up on at the end of The Force Awakens, sort of ignores the possibility of another island of significance appearing later in the trilogy?

You may want to say I'm over thinking the whole thing, and I may very well be, but it remains to be seen if any of these issues will prop up as the current story has not been fully told to its consummation yet. In any case, I'm willing to accept the possibility as it being more plausible that it may be that island we already know of, but again, I'd like to point out that only indicates where she will be geographically as it would connect to Luke and that's about it. We don't even know if Rey connected those dots in that way. Thus we don't even know how significant that whole thing was. Was it just Kylo lording over her the fact she was vulnerable and he could see all of her thoughts and fears and trying to use her troubling thoughts against her to intimidate her as a Dark side user would? Or did that scenario have more significance?

 

I'm still contemplating, when Luke say Rey was his facial expression due to:

A) Seeing the daughter he left
B) Seeing a potential student he had identified
C) Seeing the return of his LS and recognizing he is being called to action again
D) Seeing the return of his LS and realizing a hiatus he wasn't ready to end, was over because the galaxy needed him
E) Seeing the return of his LS bringing back memories of his last failure at rebuilding the Jedi
F) Some type of combination of all of the above

What was the consensus here?

My opinion is C) and E), but I'd say any of them are possible.
