I think they have it perfectly set up where each option seems just as likely. They haven't tipped their hands at all.

    Also, he's mourning Han.

Surely he felt Han's death as Leia did, and now with Rey so close, the feeling must be terribly clear. The poor man looks on the verge of tears.

    Also, maybe guilt regarding this?

i think it's C or D (kinda the same thing).

seems like there's a lot of guilt to go around.

ATTN: People that don't pay attention / agenda pushers

Rey fights Kylo Ren on two separate occasions in The Force Awakens.

The first time (Takodana), she takes Kylo Ren on with her blaster and loses, gets mind-tortured and then knocked out and captured.

The second time (Starkiller base), she takes on Kylo Ren again with her blaster and she gets flung into a tree and is temporarily knocked out. Then she fights with the Lightsaber while in retreat from Kylo Ren for most of the battle* and then wins like a typical Star Wars movie hero (Episode I, Episode IV) in the climactic third act while using her magic ability.

    * Rey learned to fight while surviving on the harsh planet Jakku for most of her life and that skill transferred over to her Lightsaber wielding.

I'm really tired of reading how Rey didn't struggle and won her first battle against Kylo Ren. This is incorrect, and you're dumb for repeating it.

I don't even like the suffering they put the character through, but you don't get to ignore/lie about the events of the movie.

So... Rey has already defeated Kylo once. They are both going to presumably get training and encounter each other again. Does Rey win again, or do you think for story line they will avoid a light saber duel resulting in another Rey victory with another Episode in the Trilogy yet left to film?

I wondered out loud (previously) why Luke's face looked the way it did when he saw Rey, what about Rey's expression? It isn't stoic or emotionless. There is feeling in the look she gives Luke... why? What do we think she's feeling? Is she overwhelmed because she is in the presence of a legend? Or is she feeling some sort of Familial Force bond that is just now striking her when she sees him? Was Luke in her vision as well, and having seen his face IRL, she understands her visions now?

    Speculate... what is she feeling?

Think it was the meeting of the minds through the force, they could have already been talking, her revealing the lightsaber was a way of getting his attention that she had not just arrived back accident to seek him out.

I speculated earlier (I think in this thread) that maybe Luke had been reaching out to her (and possibly other Force Sensitives) to find one that was strong enough to locate him. Like maybe he was sending out an All Points Bulletin through the light side of the force, and that anyone that found him subsequently might be one who was strong enough in the light side to lead the New Jedi Council when he was gone. Maybe his face was one of relief because he was beginning to think there was no hope of finding that person and finally Rey arrives. I don't know.

But for Rey it does kinda feel like (and this is just my opinion) I finally found you. I don't know if she's been looking for Luke specifically all her life (I'm not one that believes she has to be his kin) but I think she's been wondering about the visions and this is a culmination of it all...

That alternate ending would have pushed even more people into the Luke's daughter camp. Which to me would have been a reckless screwup to mislead people that way with Rey's crying face finding Luke Skywalker. I remember watching an interview with Bob Iger after the movie came out with Bloomberg news and the female journalist asking him questions said that Rey is potentially Luke's daughter and Iger had his poker face on almost cracked to say something but said he wasn't going to give anything away. So there are people in the general audience already have been left with this impression (not me).

To me, it almost feels like they are going so "back-and-forth" on this situation that this whole thing COULD implode if fans aren't satisfied.

Lol so much for "check out Rey and Luke's themes intertwined!" and "Rey's theme sounds like Anakin's backwards" or whatever people were saying.
