Since we are on the subject of Rey's outfit modifications, here's she is with gloves looking very Anakin like:

 

AKA the reason I hope "Kylo Ren" isn't his real name.

 

I've been thinking Kira Rey and Kylo Ren Solo for a while, however I'm starting to wonder if those names were names given to them as Padawans at Luke's academy. Maybe they were both students. I'm starting to lean towards REY being a Skywalker and not a Solo.

 

This is off topic but that's the same reaction when people describe Plagueis as Luke's grandfather.

 

I don't recall seeing this picture of her before, but wow does she look young in it! Almost as young as the first Anakin... well not quite.

 

I was thinking about this on the way home from the shops just now. Has anyone noticed that wherever Rey seems to be, it ends up getting attacked? For example:

At the start of the movie, Kylo and a detachment of stormtroopers land on Jakku searching for someone, but not sure who. Finn is part of the detachment but thinks all they'll be doing is talking to the locals but is utterly shocked when the village is torched. The locals have no idea who they're looking for.

Arriving back at the Star Destroyer, Finn feels sick of seeing the burned bodies, it's not what he signed up for.

He sneaks down to the planet and is saved by Rey, unknown that she's who Kylo was looking for. Soon after, they're attacked again.

Later at Rose's pub, Rey storms out after the revelations and the place is attacked by Kylo's forces again.

 

I can't remember, due to an abundance of overwhelming information and speculation, as to why I'm starting to lean that way too. More than just the desert planet pictures of each supposed generation though. I think if she is Luke's her full past won't be fully explained in VII though. Or maybe it will be as simple as her being hidden at birth.

 

They're also attacked by a "gang" on the freighter when they meet Han.

 

Yeah, why does that seem to happen where ever Rey seems to be?

 

I think JJ is just toying with us on the names. People love using that "from a certain point of view" line and I think JJ is utilizing that as well. The only character released and confirmed as a full name is Poe Dameron. I think Rey is a partial first name and obviously we don't know her last name. I think Kylo Ren is a partial name and we don't know his last name and I think Kylo goes by something else.Possibly a Darth name. I'm really unsure as to why Finn's last name has been held back. Other than some minor connection to another character we know I can't see Finn being related to any character of real importance in the past films.

 

Who knows, Finn may be a last name!

If rumors are correct she is always around destruction because they are after BB-8 and the lightsaber he is carrying.

 

Yeah, to be honest, It's kind of like saying wherever Leia goes in the OT, a fight ensues...

 

Wherever Luke goes there just happens to be a damn lightsaber

 

With attacks coming where ever Rey tends to be, could it be possible that Finn gets blackmailed by the First Order into leading them right to her?

 

Don't thinks so. Rey's arc for this movie is likely not going to be one of being a wanted Jedi or force sensitive. She is going to come out of obscurity and then her powers will be recognized. She may be hunted later in the Trilogy.
The reason Rey is around all the attacks is listed in the spoiler tag as it outlines the prevailing spoilers and this is a speculation thread. However if true it clearly explains why Rey is always around the attacks at the beginning of the movie.

Poe gets lightsaber. Kylo wants lightsaber. Village burns. Poe gives BB-8 lightsaber. BB-8 flees. Rey finds BB-8. Finn does not like Kylo's and First Orders actions and deserts. Kylo sends troops after BB-8 and lightsaber. Rey meets Finn. BB-8 with Rey. Destruction occurs. Rey stays with BB8. More destruction occurs. Thus Rey is always around destruction.

 

Both Luke and Anakin are just two dudes stuck in their own little worlds that get caught up in events when the "universe comes knocking" and taking them out of their zone.

 

I haven't seen this posted here yet. With the notable exception of the very ending of this Reddit rumour, it seems to me like this is a viable plot for a version of The Force Awakens where none of our core characters, let alone Rey/Kira, ends up being a Skywalker: (possible SPOILERS)

Commentary: This seems to have to stemmed from a suspiciously deleted Reddit account and the broad strokes don't contradict any of the concept art we've seen. The plot plays as an homage to the themes and relationships of the OT but with brand new characters. It has the emotional punch that JJ/Kennedy seem to be going for but will, to me at least, be a very different Star Wars experience. If Rey/Kira is not a Skywalker in the end, how will everyone feel about it? Should the Skywalker line stay integral to the core episodes that Disney produces? I also wonder, if we're going a non Skywalker route, do we feel a little cheated that NONE of the next generation notion of the EU is being used? One must remember that's twenty years of storytelling that have been an important part of Star Wars fandom for a lot of people.

 

No thanks. That rumor has been said before using different wording, building up to Rey taking on Kylo's role.
Since we know Kylo torches the village this rumor is bunk.
