I don't get this 'Rey' character at all. I don't see the point of her, I want her to have relevance I just don't see it. If she's anything she's going to be Finn's chamber maid who throws a stick around. She's not going to pilot, that's going to be Poe, She's not going to have a sabre, she's not related to anyone. She has no part of the story apart from been a friend to Finn which will end up been his trophy missus. No point what so ever in this character at all.

I thought in 2015 things really would have changed but nope its not, sad times

 

Sorry, but I can't agree to that. At all. Trust me, Rey will be important. She will not be some pointless love interest or eye candy.

 

Its not me saying it am just collating general hypothesis from across all the different boards and twitter pages, the stuff I have written is what most seem to think, especially on here and and on the Force Net. It seems to be the general consensus within the media and especially after celebration.

 

I haven't really seen any of that. But, maybe I'm just not looking in the same places.

 

Looks pretty similar to Rey's staff... the right length too.

 

Wow... I think you'll be very surprised when it's Rey that is the hero. She's the pilot, not Finn, she has Jedi powers, and she may be a descendant of Anakin AND have her own lightsaber. Rey and Finn are going to be a team... but stick to old movie conventions and she'll just be a damsel in distress. (Forget all about that show Alias, where Jennifer Garner kicked ass.)

 

Couldn't agree more, my guess is Rey is already a well trained jedi by the beginning of the movie, and she already has her own saber staff similar to maul's (at the top of that plagueis like saber extension thingy). I don't know why but I see her like a Satele inspired character using a saber staff.

 

Rey is an orphaned scavenger on a desert planet. I will have a lot of hats and crows to eat if she is a "well trained Jedi"

 

Did you see the 2nd Trailer where she is the competent one and Finn is the awkward bungling guy?

I am reading this and it seems for whatever reason you have rejected all the rumors (some pretty likely at this point) that would suggest Rey is significant, related to Han and the star of the film. So that you can dis a movie that hasn't come out yet.

If its not about Rey why is she with Kenedy in Japan?

If its not about Rey why is she the center and most prominent on the Vanity Fair cover?

If its not about Rey why is she the first shown in the trailer looking visually like and appearing in every way to be just like the main characters of both the PT and the OT?

If she is just a chaimber maid to be rescued why is she helping Finn up? Why is she leading the run to where to go to rescue them?

Almost every point you make seems less and less likely every passing day and you keep slamming Rey as some sort of tired damsel in distress. I am not seeing it. What makes you think so?

 

Well, I guess that's an improvement from when you were going on and on about Rey dying in this movie.

Her point is to be the new main character in the new young trio of leads.

 

Kathleen Kennedy has all said just the opposite of this. She is a new generation force user who like Luke, was just kinda dormant and not living. She has dreams. Of what I don't know but then Finn comes along and kicks her butt in gear towards her destiny. She is the heroine of the story and lead or co-lead with Finn, so she is very important

 

Where does this info come from? I always imagined she is either in hiding or on some kind of important mission from Luke.

 

I think Daisy herself said that at Celebration (Maybe? I missed the stream).

 

I think it should also be said that SW has always pushed strong women. Leia was "rescued" and 3 seconds after the prison door opened she grabbed a blaster out of someone's hand and created a way for everyone to escape. That is hardly helpless trophy. Padme in both PM and AOTC is the one that steers things toward bolder action. She goes back to her planet under siege she comes up with a plan and is a member of the assault team. In AOTC she takes the ship into danger so that together she and Ani can rescue Obi-wan. Again hardly damsel's in distress.

 

Would you accept force sensitive? Possibly trained? And not necessarily "well" or "jedi"?

I still would not be surprised if this does happen, I don't want it to happen but I have fear it still could. I even put a wager on it.
