Is there anything anywhere an that says that Genevieve O'Reilly is playing her in R1 because that would be super cool.

He DOES have a point that it doesn't feel like Star Wars but that's because it's not the SW SW that lUCAS made so it will obviously be diffrent with a different ownership.

Well... it IS meant to be set between the PT and the OT.

It'll probably sound better within the full context of the movie.

Why would she need to be a double agent? They are infiltrating the Empire to steal the plans which may actually be on the Death Star. Only way to get on and do that is steal some uniforms first.

I don't want generic characters regardless of gender. I don't feel any sort of connection to Jyn Orso at all. She comes off like the manufactured YA "badass" character that we've seen everywhere. Rey was badass, likable, and you could easily connect with her. She felt perfect for the Star Wars universe. Hell, look at the female characters in Rebels. Badass original female characters that don't feel like Katniss Everdeen rip offs. I apologize for wanting likable characters in Star Wars. Again, could be the takes they chose and the context. But that's the vibe I'm getting from this trailer.

It was at this point during the "Sad Little Men with Mommy Issues" meeting that Todd had blown the lid off the greatest conspiracy of our time.

This reminds me of something someone on here posted earlier this morning (Don't Remember Who) of a side by side comparison of Katniss Everdeen & Jyn Erso and they looked like almost the exact same image .

Jyn reminds me a bit of Ezra but certainly the fact that she's been on her own since the age of 15 is also similar to Rey. Star Wars really likes their leads to be orphans or orphan-like. In that way she is perfectly Star Wars.

I see the reason for them contacting her for this mission is that she has been a thorn in the Empire's side and she's been very elusive. She's fearless, maybe a little impulsive but she creates trouble without getting caught, or she escapes if she's caught. Very Ezra.

Also, and maybe this is what bugged me the most about the trailer, is that not even SW is immune from that insipid "BWOMMMMMMMM" noise in it's trailers. It's like that was some subconscious pinprick jabbing me and I didn't notice until my 500th viewing... now it's all I hear.

I'm looking forward to the day when a movie preview can forego the BWOMMMMM's, the fade-ins and fade-outs, and the main character stopping and turning to look back at us over their shoulder in an uncertain manner.

It makes things seem cheap and lazy.

Just because she's the Mary Sue to Luke's Gary Stu, doesn't mean it's fine. It's time SW got more serious with its characters.

That's why I'm really looking forward to this movie, and VIII.
    --- Double Post Merged, Apr 7, 2016, Original Post Date: Apr 7, 2016 ---
But those guys are attacking the movie because it's a female character. I'm not doing that. I thought Luke was a Gary Stu too, tho to a lesser degree.

Also, I'm tired to the usual badass. Lando is an awesome character, but not the usual badass. If They want to give us good to great female characters, then they need to be more creative, rather than following the same tired tropes that the "badass" male characters are.

Um, am I the only guy who has noticed that this guy is saying that he hates feminism with the passion of communism.

Honestly, there are two kinds of people I avoid like the plague: those who say that a woman receiving aid from a man in fiction is code for female enslavement, and those who think that having a female lead in a movie is a sign of some pending feminist revolt. Both kinds of people need to get out of their basement and interact with members of the opposite sex.

Man, reading comments here and elsewhere on the 'net has almost managed to suck all the fun out of today's trailer drop. So much complaining and negativity and loco theories. I think it's time for me to cultivate the necessary discipline to watch the trailer and then stay the hell off the internet. But that's just me.

It's funny how our expectations can effect our enjoyment of things. I've been looking forward to Rogue One, but not as over the top excited as I was for TFA. I think I had deep seated fears that, being an anthology with no Jedi, that it might not be star warsy enough for me, or have any cool duel type scenes or just not very good. So I was cautious in my excitement. But seeing the trailor, and seeing all the star warsy rebels, droids, ships and AT-AT's, I confess I had little joygasms and got very excited. Now I'm very much hanging out to see the film.

I think anyone who doesn't like this teaser trailer is in all honesty out of their minds. This looks and feels more Star Wars then TFA ever could. Edwards probably used storyboards when filming this movie. A film thats look has been planned down to the last detail will always look better then something just blocked on the day of shooting or "in the moment". Rogue one feels like a real film.

I don't think so, the teaser is still awesome. Just ignore the Uber (3rd wave) feminists and the "I overreact to anything a woman does, the matriarchy is coming!" people.

I stepped away from Star Wars for a few months because my expectations and obsession with TFA really did affect the way I viewed the film. Your take on the trailer is very cynical; a problem I struggled with. Expectation can be a really bad thing, especially with Star Wars.
