I do hope they find a way to accomplish this without using flashbacks... 19 years passed between RoTS and ANH (and yes, I know it came out first, but...) and there was no attempt to explain what Obi-Wan had been up to in that span. If Luke has that sort of role in the ST, there will be no need...

A Series Rebooted

It is a dark time for the Alliance. Following the destruction of the second Death
Star and the fall of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy has been thrown into total
civil war. Remnant forces of the fallen Galactic Empire have united over there
to do that thing, while our heroes are over here trying to build support for a new
Republic.

Luke Skywalker has built a new Jedi Temple in the ruins of the temple on Yavin,
the very base that was used in the assault of the first Death Star. Real Estate, it
seems, was at a premium. While new students have flocked to his side, he is
now faced with a much greater moral choice of where, exactly, the fork is
supposed to go in relation to the spoon on a formal setting.

Meanwhile, Princess Leia prepares for her first gala event without a drink or a shot
of synthstim, and while we don't even want to think about her in a metal bikini
again, we do acknowledge that she is looking mighty fine for her age. She is
supported by her husband, Han Solo, who has forsaken his life of
piracy to play a prominent role in rebuilding the Alliance Fleet, promising only to
ensure that next time nobody will ever doubt whether or not he shot first.

All the while, they are unaware that as soon as the crawl ends and the screen
pans down, there will be a large ship belonging to the bad guys, most likely about
to do some really bad blast...

Just like that, the audience is brought back up to speed...

Evil comes in many flavours... and the path to the Dark Side isn't necessarily about Galactic Domination... there are many paths that he could take. Apathy comes to mind... "hey, you know what, I just killed my dad. Game over, peace out, I am outta here... I've done enough"

You can't blame the woman for wanting to get her frog on....
