That's the end of that theory and also seems to quash a lot of the rumours we're hearing regarding the plot. Of course, it could all be a double bluff. In other words, I've no idea what the hell is going on.

Ree Yees in the house, dropping his two cents.

Sounds like another deadend trail leading us to this comic book. It's the second time. That, to me, screams MISLEADING!!!

As in, they have deliberately set up this thrice-cursed mystery box to contain stuff from these comic books to keep us off the scent.

Problem: I kind of LIKE what we've got so far - the concept art, many of the rumors..

...so it's kind of risky to launch false plot and character rumors because, you know, what if the actual movie isn't as good?

Which is confusing. The middle ground then would be that some of the leaks are true and others are based on the comics for misdirection.

But I find it to be a bit of a strange choice regardless to tie stuff so closely to the comic book whether the plot of the film will resemble it or whether it is all construed to confuse the poodoo out of us.

Oh hey now my two balls dropped too. Glorious day.

Back in August I acquired some of the Legacy Vol. 2 comics for research purposes. There are similarities between them and some of the rumors. That Legacy Vol. 2 story was baked a long time ago for Dark Horse.

@2:33 describes the series so far (as of July 20, 2013)

Wow so some of these recent "leaks" could just be concept art from the comics and we might know NOTHING AT ALL! Haahah hehe HAH! "lightsaber of Imperial Knight Yalta Val" I was sooo hoping that this was Gwendoline Christie's character. I wonder how much JJ is paying these reliable "contacts" to give out misleading info? Clouded the force has become....

You know, I got thinking about it, and Easter-Egg type messages in Aurebesh have been added to tactical viewscreens before.

My Hasbro "Big" AT-AT, the new one first released in 2010, has an Aurebesh message on the main viewscreen decal that lights up in the cockpit. Translated, it says- "Hope you enjoy the AT-AT. B. Parrish". Presumably a message from Brian Parrish, Hasbro's Star Wars Design Manager.

So, messages of the sort the O.P. appears to have discovered are not without precedent.

    Here's the screen-

Interesting to see how differently this topic is being treated here in contrast to the Jedi council forums :)

OK so let me get this straight... the story of Ania Solo as seen in the Legacy comics takes place well after the events of TFA and sounds waaay to similar to the recent leaked images for it to be a coincidence correct? So we can assume the leaked images of the young lady junker are NOT our hero from TFA movie because that would mean they actually borrowed ideas from a comic and that would imply lack of a creative voice from JJ's team correct? So they were probably concept art developed for the comics? Likewise the lost saber and Imperial Knight hunting it down are bunk as well because there is no way this movie is taking this many ques from that comic correct? Just saying this out loud to get my thoughts straight. So basically we know jack.... I need a giant hug from Gwendoline Christie... There were a lot of things I liked about those rumors but if that comic is real then there is noway this stuff is in the movie. A SW comic that pre-dates TFA in terms of development, takes place well after the events of TFA and isn't cannon but ends up being strangely similar to the movie? No way that happens.

    Do tell.

Nothing earth shattering and everybody feel free to correct me (especially Mike) but when I read it yesterday I had the feeling people were initially not fully taking this seriously and treated Mike kinda like an "idiot" (nobody called him that of course) stating that the comic stuff has already been posted and was old stuff etc. while it was pretty clear where Mike came from and that at least he had a point and made a very interesting find. In contrast to that people here seemed to react more welcoming and enthusiastic. Just MY impression though and I did not read the whole thread over at TFN. There are nice people over there as well of course but I thought the reactions were wrong.

Yeah it was met with a bit more skepticism than here, but, I can't fault anyone for being skeptical about it. What I didn't like is how they buried it with a thread merge, but, it's their forums, not mine. They get to do with their forums as they want.

I did start my post with saying I was gonna have some fun with my findings because I have no clue what any of it means. It's just hard to completely toss it off to the side as coincidence because of some of the plot elements to that comic that are similar to plot elements of Episode 7.

I am all for a real answer as to why the date shows up. Could it be the day an animator got hired, or one of the animators had a kid on that day? I don't think its the day that the scene was actually animated because it sounds like the animation process didn't get going til Dec 2013.

Or could it be Filoni messing with the fandom knowing someone would make the connection and get things buzzing?

Who knows, I would like to know the real reason why it's there, even if it's a boring explanation. It's an Easter Egg for some reason or another.

The more people that talk about it, the better chance the truth comes out.

it was mixed, and I had people that stuck up for me when the initial skeptics started to hit. I took everything tongue and cheek because I understand that some people would look at it with skepticism. I expected to get some slack. I will be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Since they buried it in the thread merge though the conversation about it died.

There's one guy over there that was skeptical (but not an ass about it), that seems to have taken a swipe at SW7news.com though... Just read it.

Great find and post Mike - thank you. This is a really fun topic.

I wandered over to that other forum to check it out - seemed very "young" to me over there. So sorry for how they were treating you. Need time outs or something. ;-)

Anywho, this is the first I'm hearing about this comic book but the similarities are absolutely striking. I'm not sure how anyone can learn about the comic's details and not immediately think that a lot of this artwork is total Mystery Box. The teaser trailer is going to be HUGELY interesting to see.

Ok, cool that you see it this way. Maybe I read too much into it. I'm just not a big fan of "arrogance" and stuff like that on the internet :). That being said I really like the atmosphere and the enthusiasm on these boards here.

In regards to the comparison between TFA rumors and the comic book's plot, I'm pretty sure Jason Ward posted an article about it when the same issue came up about a month or so ago

It's not just the leaked images. It's the actual rumored plots for Episode 7 that the comic is so similar too.

Please take what I am about to say with a huge grain of salt because I don't follow all the rumors. This is just my ramblings...

Now, it has always been my opinion that the concept art images that were leaked were legit. However, the people that had them didn't and don't have a clue about the actual story for Episode 7, so they filled in the story themselves and fed that to the various rumor sites. (possibly consciously or unconsciously using the comic plot). So the people that had the concept art fill in a back story themselves, then released the concept art and what they have done is basically proven their own made-up back story because the concept art looks to legitimize their made up story.

I feel this way because most of the rumors I have heard clearly revolve around the concept art. We have no real information about other aspects or characters of the movie that do not show up in the concept art. Examples are Leia, MVS, C-3po and R2, etc. I just find it a strange coicidence that we haven't heard any details of the story outside of the concept art, for the most part.

Again, I am not up to date on my rumors and spoilers. As evidenced that I was never aware of the discussion of the comic prior to me discovering the date in the show.

Edit: Hell I don't even know what the mystery box is...

I totally missed any previous discussion of the similarities between the comic and the rumors/art. If I had heard about that a while back I would have certainly looked at the concept art under a different light. I don't see how anyone could not consider the info about the comic when discussing those images. Might just be an act of desperation on behalf of folks running the forums because of the total lack of info. One thing is for sure, I feel like I am further from knowing what is going on now... thanks a bunch Mike (lightsaber)
