SPECULATION Possible hint of the TFA Plot in Rebels - Empire Day

My opinion is that we have been had. The rumors are the plot of the comic ( I did a bunch of internet research on this). If this were the plot of TFA, Filoni would be fired for letting the cat out of the bag. TFA is way way more important to Disney than Rebels is. We are talking about one movie that, in all likely hood will recoup 90% of Disney's purchase price of the Lucas empire. No way do they allow Filoni to drop the plot of TFA in an easter egg on Rebels.

I think this is Filoni's way of telling us we don't know squat. JJ has had a go at us for a few months now. I have said before it's not likely that anyone would give up their careers to feed us fans so much info because if they got caught they would never work on any film ever again (I'm talking crew here not major actors who know better). I think this confirms we have no idea what is to come in TFA. I think JJ told his PR team to leak false info with real info and that is what we have gotten. Bravo JJ.

If this is the plot shame on JJ for not coming up with an original story. I think JJ and company have come up with an original story and this wasn't it.

 

Okay, I am about to say something that may be a bit controversial.

But it is a common practice by Superhero comic companies to release an animated version of a film to test the waters for certain concepts. Take for example the animated Avengers movies, and the animated Iron Man movie. Both flawed creations, but incredibly similar to their live action counterparts. I believe very strongly they made these movies to work out the problems that their scripts may or may not have.

What if we have a similar situation here, where the original rough drafts of the script were made into this comic to test the waters for some of these concepts? Basically prototypes?

 

And shame on everyone who has ever made a movie based on a book, and shame on anyone who shows any love for the expanded universe in any way. I was actually in agreement with your comic until you had to squeeze in a way to be a total jerk to JJ Abrahms for no reason at all.

I could care less if hte story is original or not, as long as its done well.

 

We WILL SEE something on 27th! I have more proof !

This is a game changer, and has certainly taught me to be more cautious, lol! But for a while now I've felt like we've been discussing two things: the story as it relates to Luke, and the set up of the new young leads. This comic book revelation scuppers a lot of our assumptions regarding the latter, but it doesn't necessarily impact on the former. Hamill still has his monster beard and is "rumored" to have appeared on set for only a few days shooting, so the exiled, tormented Jedi still stands. Some of the concept art is backed up by photographs, like the desert cantina port with its bridged gate and the AT-AT foot in the desert; so maybe the speeder concepts and Walker homestead are safe? The only thing we've lost is the story kicked-off by the discovery of a lightsaber by a female scavenger. So, we lost Tank Girl and an intergalactic floating hand. No biggie, really.

(There, my best best-shot at a silver lining.... ) ....

I was not trying to be a jerk to JJ. I just think he will give us an original story and it will be amazing. I think he may use stuff from the EU but the story will be new and amazing. I have great respect for JJ.

I have no issue with the EU either. I think movies based on books and comics can be amazing too. I just don't think TFA is going to be based on a non-original JJ story based on the treatment by Lucas

The 11/27/13 may be a reference to Disney's Frozen which came out on that date.

 

11/27 is they day after my birthday and the day X-Ray and Vav premieres as well.

What are the plot points that match up with the rumors right now?

Junk dealer girl
Black ex-Imperial boy
Darth Vader like villain
Lost lightsaber

Not including Jason Ward, who has pretty much said "my rumors are correct, ignore the coincidence."

From Kyle and I think King, Boyega being an Imperial at the start of the film appears pretty much confirmed. Remember that his comic book counterpart is an "Imperial knight" while Boyega isn't a lightsaber wielding type of fellow (at first).

Ridley lives in a burnt out AT-AT and appears to be mechanically inclined, the junk dealer theory actually doesn't have any hard evidence supporting it.

Any Star Wars villain will have similarities to Vader, it's a moot point.

The context and meaning of the two lost lightsabers are entirely different, is Ania Solo's story the only one that involves finding a lost lightsaber in the entire EU?

We have a white female heroine and a black male hero in TFA just like in the comic, there appears to be coloration between the themes behind the two characters but the actual meat of the characters seems entirely different. Unless I turn out to be completely wrong and Ridley is playing a Solo despite EVERY rumor outside of the callbacks pointing the opposite way
