SPECULATION Poster and Trailer Next Friday

    Hello Everybody,

    Just wanted to toss this out there, as I am sure you are all as excited as I am for the new footage that was released today.

    I have been mulling over things in regards to the final trailer release date for a while, and I always thought that Sept 4th would be a no-brainer. From a marketing standpoint, you can't beat the buzz that the trailer would release online, buzz that would trickle over into social media and everywhere else, creating a logical tie-in to hype up your big merch reveal/release. Seeing as how it's almost unheard of for a tent-pole movie to not really have a one-sheet (final version) released and in theaters close to 3 months from release, again, one would think with this much riding on the re-invigoration of Star Wars, these would be missed opportunities to put it mildly.

    Oct 2nd was thrown around for a while, which would sort of work, but I always thought we would at LEAST get the real, actual final one-sheet on the 4th. Now it seems pretty obvious we will be getting the trailer.

    This new footage means several things-

    JJ and Disney can and will surprise us, subverting all of our expectations. Who the hell would have thought we would see brand new, spine-chilling TFA footage today, with no announcement of any kind? Just totally, like BAM! Here you go! And when you take the footage in concert with the 4th being essentially one week from today, this seems like a build up to a new trailer.

    In my opinion, this is not the last of the instagram teases. We probably won't see something daily, because by next Friday, the whole trailer would have been seen in slices, and there is nothing like seeing something more or less in one piece to fully appreciate it. I think we will be seeing teases like this every 2-3 days with a few new shots and a few old shots, intercut with great new score pieces, culminating with the final trailer on Force Friday. Then, bam, Disney can have this thing playing on loop in Target and Wal-Mart next to their toys. Marketing genius.

    What do you think? Whatever the case, the trailer is close, as the shots they release to the public are to be sure, very carefully considered, and the new shots of Rey and Finn are almost guaranteed from the final trailer.

    Several people have mentioned JJ saying that, but the connotation is everything in that sentence. Did he say we would et a trailer "later, in the fall." Meaning we would not get a trailer today, but at a LATER date sometime in the fall. Or did he say we would get a trailer "LATER in the fall." Meaning the trailer would come out at the END of fall. There's a big difference.

    I think Force Friday would be the perfect day to release the trailer. Between all of the new TFW merchandise, toys and the Aftermath book being released that day, there really won't be anymore information about the movie being released. A trailer would be the icing on the cake and more than enough info to tide us over until 12/18.

    I think per the earlier posts, he meant (JJ) Later, in the fall. Not later in the fall, as in, the latter days of fall. Late in fall, would put a trailer 6-8 weeks before release which would be absurd imho. Way too close to release, even for a marketing plan that values secrecy and seems to be trying to avoid over-saturation.

    I don't really care when the trailer is released, I'll be excited for it no matter how close to December the put it out. But my personal take is that it must be eminent. Usually when little previews like this get released, the full trailer appears in the next few days. I would be surprised if we didn't see one by Force Friday. I've said it before - to Hollywood, it is already Fall.

    I don't see why people think it would be Force Friday.
    1>Most of the world will be doing Force Friday on the 3rd (our Thursday)
    2>The big Force Friday unboxing event starts on Sept 2nd
    3>The biggest part of Force Friday is 12:01am
    If you want to release a trailer to hype FF, then release it closer to the 2nd. Or maybe the 3rd but not on the 4th when the whole Force Friday is about over. The whole idea to release it near FF is dumb anyway. Why wait the hype.
    I am staying with the rumor I heard, early Oct but i don't think any DATE is set or written in stone.

    Remember the toy video SW put up, said to be watching YouTube on Sept 2nd at 2:30, this is 15 min before the Star Wars unboxing even starts.

    Wait..hear me out here. If they're releasing masks with voices next week wouldn't a trailer make much sense since we'll hear the voice first with the trailer?

    I've been wondering the same thing.

    (18:03 if it's not working properly for you)

    He doesn't pause after "later" which make it sound more like "later in the fall" but he could have easily made a mistake, or it could just be the way he talks.


    Unless they want the voice changing mask to be the reveal?

    Am I the only one who feels satisfied by what we got on Thursday?

    I'm more interested in getting plot info now than another trailer.

    Plus, they got so much backlash on social media from spoiler-phobic fans for showing Finn with a light saber that it seems unwise to expect more for a long, long time. :(

    I'm expecting the new Trailer on October 8 at New York Comic Con. It would make alot of sense to release it at a big event like that with an online release at the same time. :)

    Yeah, I don't think the trailer will out Friday. Probably sometime in October. Late September at the earliest.
