I know this has been done to death, but I'd like to see how members of this community rank the movies. You can include The Clone Wars if you like, but I haven't seen it.
    For me, it goes:
    A New Hope
    Empire Strikes Back
    Return of the Jedi
    Revenge of the Sith
    The Phantom Menace

    Attack of the Clones

By the way this may look like your typical list but it was actually really hard. Picking children is usually that way. :D

    Here goes another.

    1. STAR WARS 95%
    2. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK 93%
    3. RETURN OF THE JEDI 78%
    4. THE PHANTOM MENACE 42%
    5. REVENGE OF THE SITH 33%
    6. ATTACK OF THE CLONES a dead cat wrapped in layers of onion and tampons%

The numbers I have arrived at are not just random. They are the result of much pondering back and forth over the years. EMPIRE used to be my fave but in hindsight the ghost stuff ruins it a few %.
SITH tried to fool me for a while, but it could not withstand my all too total scrutiny; in the end, it was against me.

Yes I'm trying the naughty tongue-in-cheek method, do not rise in offense...or defense. After all, taste is like butt cheeks: divided (emperor)

    1. ESB
    2. ANH
    3. RotJ
    4. RotS
    5. TPM
    6. AotC

The clone wars movie was boring but I could see it being fun for little kids. I could maybe slot it in between Sith and Menace. At least it never made me shake with anger.

Seems like the majority agree that AotC is the least favored in the saga. I love to see where people rate Return of the Jedi, that was my favorite as a kid simply for the Boba Fett action on Tatooine (boba fett) and the Darth Vader unmasking.

I agree. As a kid I thought RotJ was the best because of the confrontation with Vader and the Emperor. I still think that might be my favourite part of the whole franchise. If the Ewoks were Wookies it might rank higher than ANH to this day. Empire Strikes Back is just an overall better film though and holds up better as you get older. Both ESB and ANH are great stand-alone films whereas you kind of need to take the rest of the franchise as part of a bigger whole.

Yeah that was a missed opportunity, with the Ewoks. It would have been so cool to see an army of Wookies (chewie):D

Return Of The Jedi > The Empire Strikes Back > Revenge Of The Sith > A New Hope > Attack Of The Clones > The Phantom Menace.

Not including The Clone Wars because that was originally going to be a TV movie (and it's not bad as far as a pilot goes). I'm surprised at all the dislike AOTC gets considering it basically addressed most of the complaints that TPM garnered.

Except for George's middle finger to the fans by including Jar Jar again at all, and then the complaints addressed were eclipsed by all the new problems it introduced. That god-awful "love" story by itself makes that movie the worst.
    And then this scene:

I apologize if that brings back memories that people were hoping to forget.

The other part I disliked was the whole C-3PO scene in the droid factory, I'm supposed to believe that, I know it was supposed to be funny but I liked C-3PO's humor from the Original Trilogy better.

Revenge of the Sith 100% George's Lucas' masterpiece as an experienced director
    A New Hope 99%
    The Phantom Menace 98%
    The Empire Strikes Back 97%
    Attack of the Clones 96%
    Return of the Jedi 95%

I put the percentages just for comparison's sake. It's really all one movie in different parts.

I find the whole idea of saying one is the least or the best a bit odd in that even if for example the people who put AOTC last it's still a Star Wars movie and hence way above most movies ever made for our own personal view of enjoyment.

I think the love story in AOTC is terrific. Well scripted and acted beautifully. I think the problem is that people are way too used to the form of the rom com romances which go on a certain track which this movie does not. It's an old school distant past kind of romance vibe. It's not meant to be along the more usual lines of the Han-Leia one which is more Gable & Colbert from It Happened One Night. Anakin & Padme is more the doomed from the start strand of love story.

Not at all. Meesa luv Jar Jar.

    All good times.

BEFORE THE BASHING, HEAR ME OUT. I put Ep 6 and Ep 3 as my top 2 because for me, they were the most emotionally-provoking films. Ep 3 broke us, showing us how the Chosen One himself leads the downfall of the Jedi, and Ep 6 fulfills us by showing us how the Chosen One, despite all that he's done and gone through, personifies his true self and destiny. I may be young (18), but generation bias and CGI aside, it's truly these 2 films that get me every time.

You have a total right to your opinion, so don't be worried about people bashing you for your specific tastes. That only happens at that other SW website that many of us here left a few years ago. ;)

It's interesting that Episode 3 & 6 are the most emotionally provoking films for you, because I am the exact opposite as Episodes 4 & 5 are the most emotionally provoking for me. It kind of goes to my theory that either you are a Darth Vader/Story Fan, or a Luke,Leia,Han/Story Fan, and different movies connect with that specific viewer. Once Lucas decided to make the story about Darth Vader (starting in ROTJ with Luke trying to redeem him and then making the PT about Anakin, those movies just don't connect the same way it did when they were all about Luke, Leia and Han in Episode's 4 & 5.

I think that's why the Luke/Leia/Han fans are more likely to like ANH/ESB/ST while obviously the Darth Vader fans will like the PT/ROTJ more when the 9 movies are all out.
