SPOILER Rey's Hide Out

Or she could be temporarily working for the rebels & has a side job as a bounty hunter.

 

Right, she could be on recon or something.

 

Recon thats the word, looks like she found something when she left in a hurry.

 

Yes recon.

And the fact that the hammock looks Wookie designed might mean she gets her supplies from her father and his pal Chewie.

And what better place to hide than right in the belly of the "beast".

 

Why would Rey Solo be out on her own? Well...ponder this:

HAN: She's got too much of her uncle in her.

LEIA: And her father.

HAN: That's what I'm afraid of...

I know Shmi having another child would be interesting plot going forward.

Yep very lazy but still a different interesting angle to look at I suppose

 

Rey could be in hiding because she (like her uncle) "craves adventure and excitement." Living under the protective eye of Han or spoiled by mom. She got sick of it and struck out on her own in the hopes of following in the footsteps of dad and scoundrel adventures. She got stuck working with scrappers and so far has been to proud to call mom and dad.

 

Totally. And when her father Han Solo dies Luke assumes responsibility, takes her under his wing and trains her to be a great Jedi master.

 

If Rey is the daughter of Princess Leia and Han Solo, then I don't know why she would be living on that planet, and inside the shell of a capsized AT-AT. It does make for a better story than if she lived with them in a house with a white picket fence, because conflict equals drama.

I just love the fact that the characters will live among the ruins of a drawn out galactic conflict. One of the better points made by Redletter media in their autopsy of ROTS, was that the prequels never showed us the collateral damage of the clone wars. Coruscant was the same place in TPM that it was in ROTS, and that rang false.

 

It's her "hide out". Like a disguise it's her place to live without being identified. I think it's obviously one of two senerios. A) She's on a mission not unlike Leia in Jabas palace or B) She's being hidden from the bad guys with the help of her parents. I'm leaning towards senerio A.

 

Why is it obviously any scenario? She could be there for a million different reasons. Maybe you've heard something that I haven't, but we're not even sure if TFA follows Finn or Rey's hero journey. If Rey is the "Luke" of the sequels, then it makes more sense for her to be uninitiated at the beginning, and not part of some mission like Leia in ROTJ. I only see your scenario A making sense if Finn is the central protagonist.

 

Maybe her & Finn are on recon duty on Tatooine.

 

This changed. She lives in the main town now. She simply salvages from the AT-AT now.

 

Well I saw a set photo of the interior of the AT-AT first hand. Someone is living in it and it has a hammock.

 

Well according to this her home is on "Mainstreet." Not to pull a Jocasta and say if its not in my archives it doesn't exist, but I don't see anything about interiors to AT-ATs, just an ext. shot for the salvage stuff. I'll have to give it a second look. But according to what I'm seeing it appears she lives in the settlement and is salvaging stuff from the AT-AT when she hear's BB-8 "cry" out.

All I can say is I saw what I saw and it was the only thing I saw. It was the inside of an AT-AT with tons of stuff in it like someones living in it, dirt floor like its buried partially into the ground and a hammock that kind of resembled Chewies bandoleer. Why they would fully build this set and then scrap it I dont know.

Also it was a fully finished set and it was lit as if light was coming from outside. So the photo was taken most likely during the filming of it.
