4 months later, and we're not much wiser on the home front.

Anyone find anything new or have any new ideas?

I wonder if what Yoda 2 said is true (enough time has passed), that there is bandolier hammock that looks like Chewie's inside the AT-AT or was it just concept?

Regardless of WHY she's there, remember; She's on a desert planet with (probably) limited available construction materials...a downed AT-AT is a ready-made structure. Survival of the fittest.

Are you saying that Rey is not Leia's daughter or that she is not a nomad?

The "Vicar" (rumored to be played by Max Von Sydow) and the "villagers" could be the nomads if they move around from place to place.

There were costumes labeled "Desert Nomad" and "Junkyard Thug" at Celebration 2015. I'm not sure which is which. (Fan site MSW character list & leaked Nomad/Tusken* concept art description.)

The Covergirl cosmetics line had a look labeled "nomad".

*The Tusken Raiders were/are nomads, weren't they?

I honestly don't think there is anything hard to think or imagine with this concept. What if something happened and they had to send her away? What if they lost her or she was kidnapped? Her being described as a nomad would even further the speculation and add fuel to the idea that she is Han and Leia's daughter. There are so many other ways they could explain why she's alone and grown up without her parents. I think the AT-AT house is awesome...I say heck yah.

Or maybe, just maybe, Rey isn't Han and Leia's daughter and we don't have to deal with figuring out that plothole?

Her true destiny is to defeat the Sith and be the most powerful Jedi in the universe. However that path will involve having her limbs chopped off and receiving force enhanced cybernetics.

I just want to see a good plot that comes together, IMO it's not really about who is playing who.

Have I said enough times how much I freaking love the AT AT Walkers?! Since my last name is Walker, I tried to trick my wife into naming our son Aidan Thomas and different variations so his initials would be A.T. Walker. I thought it was funny, but she knew what I was doing, and vetoed it.

That said, from the first time I saw this concept art, I loved it. The idea of living inside an old crashed Walker is awesome. Somebody should get a raise in the art department/concept room for this one. The idea of her walking around picking apart the salvage yard of downed space craft is great as well. I'm excited to see all of this in the movie.

If Mvs is an ex imperial or storm trooper defected, he could be leading from the ground?

I've missed 5 pages here and got excited, sorry if this makes no sense

Ever since that first leaked image of the AT-AT foot in the desert and hearing about Rey possibly living in an old AT-AT, I've been very excited to see this on screen. Even if just a brief shot, it should be pretty cool to see that on the screen.

Not only you, my friend! I loved the walkers from the first time I saw it. I remember back in.....81-83, when I didn´t know anything about Star Wars, I lived in Spain with my parents and one evening we came back home and there was a documental and I saw the Walkers and how they did it and remember one line - Some of this 20 m machines were just 12 cm tall -- not exactly, but something like that. A saw just few minutes because it ended but I totally loved it. Then in 83 I´ve seen Jedi and start with the action figuress and all, and sometimes when we went to shopping mall there was this small toys store full with Star Wars stuff, and besides the ATAT toy they showed repeatedly something I could call the trailer to Empire Strikes Back, so I was looking at it many many times....Of course, I didn´t know nothing about first two movies until 85, when we got the 3 movies on VHS...I always wanted the AT-AT toy, but it was too expensive....NOw my 4 years old son saw some pictures of the Walkers and he loves it too :) he recently saw E4 for the first time and next year I´m planning to show him Empire, he will be.....the whole Episode 4 he was like hypnotized, he watched the tv with mouth little opened and I enjoyed that moment - his first moment - very much. So I´m looking forward to show him Empire and the legendary Hoth battle....and I will make video of him when Vader says the Father line :)

Rey demonstrates great gifts early, people with gifts like that are kept hidden, if they are not kept hidden they can be seduced to the dark side. Makes total sense Rey is kept hidden in a remote planet, leading a life living off the land. Isn't that precisely the conditions we meet Luke in? Vader becomes obsessed with finding Luke and it takes Luke to come out and do something bold for Vader to realize he's even alive.

If Rey is who we think she is, she would be a very closely guarded secret, the bounty on her alone from the Hutt must be pretty steep.

Of interest is that the treatment suggests Rey has been on Jakku a long time, possibly her whole life as she's never seen Yavin IV. So like Luke, she's never really been anywhere yet. Instead of a moisture farmer living with Aunt Beru, she scavenges for herself among the ruins of the battle of Jakku. She has a solitary lifestyle that's closely watched by the Vicar (who is apparently an old friend of Han and Leia's).

Also she appears to win a mental duel of some sort with Kylo. There's some implication Rey figures out who Kylo is but not the other way around and this only angers him more. At the very least Rey resists Kylo torturing her then later uses the Jedi Mind trick, or so we're told.

She torments him too at one point. There's some implication Rey is more gifted that Kylo and that Han can sense good in him and begs Rey not to kill him. Chewie saves them so that Rey doesn't have to perhaps or perhaps Rey is faltering. Either way Chewie saves the day big time, Finn saves Chewie earlier at one point and Chewie saves Finn, which is cool. Finn and Poe help each other escape so that friendship is solidified.

It really is all starting to make sense, except for the move with the Array and location of Maz's Cantina and the nature of the escape through the catacombs that come with heavy casualties.

Speaking of which there was a question earlier in this thread about Korr Sella earlier and according to MSW the character does die, the spoilers on her character are:
    • It appears The Emissary is on a secret mission of her own.
    • The role is small but could be pivotal.
    • She has 3-4 scenes at most.
    • It appears she is working for Leia.
    • She is at Rose’s Pub when the Empire’s new weapon levels the pub and the castle next to it.
    • She doesn’t survive the attack.
    • Her death brings Leia and See-Threepio to the planet where they have an awkward meeting with Han Solo

The fan site MSW is back to saying that the desert AT-AT is Rey's home:
