I'm on the non-Tatooine side. I'm leaning towards Pasher being the sand planet.

For those who don't know Pasher, it will be the central location of the upcoming Heir to the Jedi novel.

I can dig it. I really don't see why we need Tatooine yet again.

This makes a possible case for Hoth. Like if its elliptical orbit brought it further or closer to its sun and at times was ice another other times desert. Like it had a 50+ year solar cycle.

I don't need a new planet. Especially if you do a new planet you can make it a more dynamic place. Like the skies over Pandora or some of the back drops of Guardians of the Galaxy. What get me is that if Rey is a hiding Solo why on earth would you take her to Tatooine to hide. Skywalkers are from there, Leia killed a hutt there, Han was there and made enemies. That is the last place I would pick. For me I am not against returning to Tatooine but the reason needs to make sense.

I respect Jason and the info he provides but I have doubts about this. He commented on the Last Night Wannabe Spoilerman thread that he is 99.9% sure it's not Tatooine. That is almost saying he is definite it is not. At the time he did not offer much proof why. Now in the article he backs that up that up by saying his sources say there will be all new planets and he trusts his sources and that's cool. This is why I question this.

The inside TFA teaser special during the Rebels Marathon may contradict the not Tatooine theory. The Kirby Buckets kid says "recognize that planet". That leads me to believe that we are supposed to. This would make the most likely option that this is Tatooine if we are supposed to recognize the sand planet. This is coming from something Disney produced so I don't see it as a way to throw us off. The only other possibility I could see is Lothal since this special was shown after a Rebels marathon. Lothal does appear sandy. However, the more likely scenario is that he was referencing Tatooine.

Maybe those who know Jason can clarify this. Why would Disney produce something that seems to imply Tatooine and yet his sources lead him to believe it is almost absolutely not Tatooine.

No question it is Tatooine in the teaser.

    1. There are sand and rocks (in leaked concept art) just like on Taooine.
    2. There's some pods
    3. Of course there's only one light source, because it was filmed ON FREAKING EARTH and we only have one sun in here. Why should they care about two suns when they're not visible? Who will notice they think.
    4. It was kinda confirmed in that short clip where kid revealed some secrets from the teaser.

Other things though... the location of the shoot for Tatooine has always been Tunisia... and for those of you that ain't never humped sand dunes, let me educate you that all deserts ain't the same (and contrary to popular belief, it gets pretty darned cold at night) So, it's desert, but it isn't the same desert... which doesn't mean it isn't the same planet, but just sayin that 6 movies have used Tunisia...

Not sure what you mean about pods... but in none of the concept art (or actual shots) that I have seen are there any Jawas or Tuskan Raiders.. there are moisture vaperators, but not the same ones as the first six movies... and the "city" doesn't look like Espa or Eisley... which doesn't mean it isn't but it doesn't mean it is...

It isn't just the suns, it's the moons as well... however the one concept piece is called "binary sunset" which would mean, well, that there is a binary sunset...

The Viral thing I can't argue with... his ways are mysterious, and he may not know everything, but when he says it WILL be in the movie, you can be sure he is sure...

Well, that's because I asked my source today. Of course he could be wrong buy an entirely new desert planet that looks like Tatooine never made much sense to me.
I agree that the planet on the art looks kinda different but let's not forget the TMZ photos. It is Tatooine.

Hmm... Actually I'd like it very much if it is just another side of Tatooine... It always concerned me that most planets in the SW Universe have only one or two known places and every time somebody lands on it he is always at the same place... So I really want it to be Tatooine.

I think there are some reasons they can't shoot in Tunisia... Maybe ebola? No, no. That's just stupid.

And about this binary sunset concept art, I haven't seen it! Could you plz send me a link?

I'm not so convinced it is Tatooine but IF it is I could see it being "the otherside" or something. Nothing we have seen really looks familiar to Tatooine other than sand and cliffs and like many people have said, there can be more than one place with sand and cliffs in the galaxy. There are some odd coincidences with Hoth here and there but that seems a little extreme to me.

I haven't seen this either. Where is this concept art with the suns pictured?

Actually, you have seen it... you just didn't realize it... in fact, you just posted it. The title of this piece is (for whatever reason) "binary sunset"

Indeed you are right. I didn't realize that. I don't see any evidence to go either way though.

Looking at what looks like a space port or perhaps a Rebel/New Republic outpost and comparing them to some of the things they did in Abu Dhabi, I don't think Mos Eisley is going to make an appearance unless its something they did in studio. Looking at the TMZ photos I get the feeling that building may serve as a sort of open air hangout/our new cantina. This planet seems to be even more desolate than what we have seen of Tatooine or perhaps like I said earlier maybe just a more desolate area of Tatooine. The focus seems to be on this space port and we can see the falcon is there.
