I think the trailer's arrival was perfect timing.

I know I'm going to get flak for this, but BVS, Suicide Squad and Deadpool won Comic-Con.

Deadpool's trailer was pretty good, they seem to have captured the spirit of the character pretty well

If there is a thread where we can discuss the state of DC Comics on this site, I'll gladly join. But I will say that I think DC is in some trouble. They'll reap some sheckles out of Batman vs. Superman but to me they look at least 5 years behind the times. I'll gladly elaborate further outside this thread. But I think DC has had a LOT of missteps of late and haven't fully caught up to the culture of 2015.

As for Star Wars, I love how our film is going against the grain.

Star Wars is saying to us, "We want something different than a punch it out, blow it out mass media CGI stomp fest."

If Star Wars fails it will be because they aim too high. That perhaps, we live in a culture that doesn't want an intricate, clever, well crafted puppet like Bobbajo, they want heavy back lit rain, thundering bass drums to wake you out of your twitter slumber and a clear message that manhood is defined solely by willpower and violence.

We're getting something a little less catered to young men still discovering their own power and destiny. We're getting an action film that suddenly remembered Star Wars was beloved by all ages.

Your Mom is going to love this new Star Wars film as much as your kid brother.

To some, that means the film will be terrible and to others (like me) it's a sign Star Wars is truly back where it belongs.

I know I've missed a couple of pages, so if it was discussed forgive me, but I think my favorite thing that the OT crew said was when Harrison Ford sounded completely candid and said " It should have felt ridiculous coming back, but it felt great." Now, maybe that was just lip service, but I feel like he was being honest, especially in his praise for the writing. I think he was probably really upfront on coming back that it had to be a strong script that challenged him a bit, not taking a third chair like Han did in ROTJ.

Daisy is perfectly in the middle of the SDCC panel. She is clearly the main star of this movie and the whole ST.

The buzz from BVS already seems gone... It has an instant bang and then fizzles out quickly. Star Wars took their fans to a concert and brought HF on stage for the first time in forever. That has a lasting impact, a 3 minute cheap CGI trailer is fun to look at for a few minutes, but after that people forget about it. I agree with @Snazel that DC's product just hasn't wowed me... I had high hopes for Suicide Squad but the trailer was Mehh. Star Wars made a massive impact just by releasing a BTS clip, few films can do that.

The Off topic forums are a pathway to topics some consider...unnatural. But there is plenty of room for non-SW conversation there if you feel the need to rant about DC, Marvel, or anything else your heart desires.

Both of these have probably been mentioned somewhere in the depths of this thread, but I had two favorite moments from that panel:

    1. The anecdote Oscar Isaac told about asking HF about advice on how to fly in the movie, what buttons to push, etc. And HF's reply "It's fake." Classic Ford!! :D

    2. The chemistry between Carrie and Mark while HF is talking, how she's resting her head on his shoulder and he's holding her hand; they looked like the best of friends after these past 30 years, and it spoke volumes to me about how they'll interact on screen if/when they get screentime together. They also looked proud to have HF so firmly with them, and it all may have been an unconscious clue as to Han's fate in TFA.
