You raise a good point.. We may be wasting our time a bit. It's an in-camera, pre-effects shot, with the blurry characters facing, and moving, away from camera... We're not gonna have quite enough to go on. A rifle, a character in the middle who seems to be limping, a corridor..

I agree we receive more info to discuss then what I expected, SDCc fro most fans was focused on the next trailer we got a BTS clip that was even better, I'm sure the corridor mystery will be solved soon.

That body really doesn't look like Luke to me.

 

All three are walking away from the screen moving forward. The guy on the left throws the staff away from the camera out of the hatch toward something. I know this because the staff disappears and their is no trace of it "behind" the middle character. It just vanishes because the middle character blocks out view of it.

Not to mention it looks like the middle character is holding a rope or something as he works his way towards the hatch. Look at the way he walks and arm postion, too low for a blaster stance especially compared to the character on the right. The whole scene to me looks like they are corralling a beast or getting ready to exit the hatch down to something.

 

Can you provide the quotes? Carrie and Isaac's?
That's very interesting, and I hadn't heard that.. Poe was at the medal ceremony? In ANH? Or am I misunderstanding? Harrison talking about character progression definitely keeps me from believing the most recent Han rumors as well.

 

Here is Oscar Isaac's quote.

“It was taking on the character, he takes on the legacy, not only of Han and Luke, being these heroic pilots, but if you think about it, these characters. They lived those stories that we grew up with, they grew up at the same time as those stories. Poe was probably there watching on Yavin, you know, with the medal ceremony.And I want that, I want to be that hero and take up that mantle, and I think that’s what he does, sometimes even recklessly.”

 

He means Poe was a young boy on Yavin when the medal ceremoney went down? It does seem to suggest that's where he's from. Nice catch, but he also could have been talking about his character poetically, in that all kids looked up to Luke and Leia for what happened over Yavin IV that saved their entire planet.

It would be cool if he's actually from Yavin IV and was saved by what Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie did to save them. Nice touch for Poe, who is a cool character it seems either way.

The race quote however is far out of context, it was in no relation to lineage, rather that it was written without type casts in mind. It's people desperate to prove the MSW is wrong in my opinion. It was also to address the Asian stereotypes Star Wars had been accused of with a firm promise that we're getting a big one in Episode VIII from Kennedy, which is long overdue and totally freaking cool with me.

We'll learn later that Rey and Poe's genders were switched at one point (based on wild rumors that was true very early after the film was announced only) and that Finn was written to be any race and they chose John Boyega because they knew he'd hit a home run with the part.

There is some hint Finn and Chewie become great friends in this one, so Finn will probably inherit the Falcon.

Rey is who we all suspect her to be, it's a significant reason why Han risks it all to save her. I'm convinced that's the soul of the film. It could be epic and very cool.

 

She should have said that the new people do it "faster, more intense." Lol.

I hate to advocate the one-scene Luke rumor in any way (because I think it's a red-herring), but I think all we can take for sure from her answers is just that the three of them were together on set at the same time. As we know, Mark was definitely on set a lot, so this doesn't necessarily mean they were all in character. Though I hope it does, and it makes sense for it to, especially if Han will die, in which case it seems logical, in a way, to have them all together one last time, before he does die.
