Not for me. There were a few thematic threads strewn throughout the movie and one of them was that there are other ways to help than by going in guns blazing like a big shot, and sacrificing yourself out of anger and spite, instead of in a truely selfless way when there is no other option. (Holdo.)

Finn being the one to say "No, lets escape and continue to have hope to be the spark for others" in the Crait cave was the character pay off for his attempted kamikaze.

While watching the movie for the first time I hoped he would die ... it would have been another wtf-moment. Now I think it's okay he's still alive.

Well, maybe that would have been the best. I liked Finn in TFA and i think Boyega is a good actor but the character was pointless in TLJ.

Holy hell you know how hilarious that wouldve been. You wouldve never seen an entire race of people boycott a movie series so fast. Hey, not all movies will be black panther, i get that, but they wouldnt let rian johnson pull that blast. Force awakens was tone deaf but not thaaaat tone deaf.

Most of the characters are pointless. None of them make any sense. Killing them off doesn't resolve the problems of bad story telling. I still have no idea what this story is about.

NO! I'm soooo glad RJ put that in there. It mirrors Holdo. Holdo decides to commit suicide. Leia gives her an opportunity to change her mind, Holdo insists. Everyone says, "Wow! How heroic!" Rose puts a kabosh in the kamikaze mentality. If she'd let Finn do that what remained of the Resistance would be a Poe style free for all, orders meaning nothing, with everyone left going kamikaze whenever they decided to. There's no reason for Finn to actually DIE. To buy them a few more minutes? His life is worth more than that. He's worth more than that to Rose. It's one of the best moments in the movie. I mean, is the Rebellion going to be all suicide bombers? Where does it end? Did every single person on Snoke's star destroyer deserve to die? Every-Single-Person, even the "Finns" just mopping up? It has to end somewhere and Rose ended it with common sense and love. Great storytelling. So many stupid doors nailed shut by RJ in this movie LOL good job!

Yes, I was once happy to have a black lead in the Star Wars universe but RJ solidified him as Jar Jar 2.0, the films Stepin Fetchit. He can’t even commit suicide right for Gods sake. The whole Canto Bight plot was there to keep him a billion parsecs away from Rey. Disney learned from TFA and made sure to keep the foreign markets happy this time. No hints at miscegenation this time. Let’s have Rey fall in love with the dude that just tried to beat the blast out of her. No need to hide Finn on the poster, they just hid him for the entire movie. I want Finn to die. I hope that 9 opens with everyone on the MF taking turns tasing him, with Rey giving him the last shock that sends him into cardiac arrest, similar to how Olly did Jon Snow. But unlike Jon Snow I want Finn to stay dead, if only to preserve what little dignity he has left. No more tasing, no more drinking from troughs, no more cowardice or taking L’s. Just the sweet release of death. That’s what I want for him. To die.

Even though the scene was a bit goofy, I'm glad Rose knocked Finn off-course.
I thought he was dead for sure.

Honestly the Falcon should have destroyed the canon as Finn was approaching. Then it would have been Rey saving Finn. I have little interest in the Finn/Rose romance. The canon could have destroyed the door just enough for Ren to go through with Troopers.

To show how much Rose cared for Finn.

    YES !
His sacrifice was the only good moment he had in the entire movie. Writers obviously don't give a flying f#ck about this character and don't know what to do with him.

Now what ? Do we have to suffer him fumbling his way through yet another movie so that BB-8 can swoop in and save the day ?

When your character as sunken so low as to be become the sidekick of your astromech droid, it's time to let go.

Finns should have died at the end of TFA. This arc ended and now they have to make up foolishness for him to do

    Poe was always useless

The handholders are nice supporting elements but there arc is a stand alone movie

I just told you : put an end to his misery and give him a good heroic death.

(i would have given you a much different answer before TLJ, but it's too late for that now)

No reason to die. However, that moment was a great one with him ready to give it all away to save the resistence

I didn't think he was going to sacrifice himself, since he is ( supposed to be ) an Ace in shooting and that he has knowledge about that canon. He was going to shoot at a specific target to the canon and destroyed it.... Guess my hopes were too high at that very moment and was so mad was rose stopped him. Because I truly believed he was going to achieve a better thing that a suicide plan.... LOL but the movie wasn't that smart.

I was fine with him living, it fit with what they were doing with Rose/Finn. However, I did believe he should have died at the end of Force Awakens. I felt as if his Arc was pretty much complete; dying against Kylo Ren creates the feeling that anyone is expendable and anything can happen.

I think Finn should have died and it would have finally given his character some depht. I thought finally I can take him serious and then he was saved by Rose and everything felt strange.
